At NVIDIA‘s virtual CES 2023 press conference, they announced brand new high powered GeForce RTX 40 series laptops coming from some of the world’s top manufacturers, including Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, GIGABYTE, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer and Samsung. Powered by the Ada Lovelace GPU architecture, these new GeForce RTX 40 series laptops are up to three times more power efficient than the previous generation and offer up to four times the performance in AAA games.
They also feature the Ada architecture, NVIDIA DLSS 3, and fifth-generation Max-Q technologies for the first time in laptops. These RTX 40 series laptops are suitable for both gamers and creators. They offer strong performance in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and fast acceleration in creative apps like Blender. According to Jeff Fisher, senior vice president of the GeForce business at NVIDIA, the Ada architecture has allowed the company to “transform the performance and power efficiency of gaming and creator laptops.”
The RTX 40 series laptops usher in a new class of high performance laptops
The Ada architecture has resulted in the creation of the world’s fastest laptops, suitable for gaming enthusiasts. The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 laptops are capable of powering a driving simulator and can support gaming on three 4K monitors at 60 frames per second.
Creators can also utilize the NVIDIA Omniverse platform to build 3D virtual worlds with photorealistic graphics, simulated physics, lighting, and materials. Additionally, streamers can livestream games at 4K 60 fps with AV1 encoding to Discord, with Ada’s dual encoders reducing video export time by 50%.
On the other hand, RTX 4070, 4060, and 4050 laptops offer improved performance compared to the previous flagship models. Using significantly less power, these laptops are capable of delivering 80 fps at 1440p ultra-gaming. And, can significantly reduce the time it takes to complete tasks such as rendering scenes in Blender.
14-inch RTX 40 series laptops are more powerful than ever
Another benefit of the Ada architecture can be seen in 14-inch laptops, the fastest-growing laptop segment. Equipped with GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPUs, these laptops can now perform tasks that were previously impossible. Ultra-fast 3D rendering and the use of AI tools in apps like Photoshop and Premiere Pro are now possible.
Twice as fast as a PlayStation 5, these 14-inch RTX 40 series laptops are also powerful gaming devices. They are capable of playing AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing and DLSS.
NVIDIA brings the power of RTX 4080 to their cloud gaming service GeForce NOW
In addition to the RTX 40 series laptops, NVIDIA announced that a RTX 4080-class gaming upgrade will begin to roll out later this month to their cloud gaming service GeForce NOW. Existing 3080 tier members will automatically be upgraded to the new Ultimate membership. The upgraded GeForce NOW RTX 4080 SuperPODs will provide gamers with over 64 teraflops of graphics horsepower. This is more than five times that of an Xbox Series X and almost 1.75 times the previous-generation SuperPODs.
The Ultimate membership provides a high-quality cloud gaming experience, allowing gamers to stream games at up to 240 frames per second with full ray tracing and DLSS 3. With the addition of NVIDIA Reflex, GeForce NOW Ultimate membership will offer a click-to-pixel latency of less than 40 milliseconds. That’s about half the latency of a console game played natively in your home.
Moreover, The NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture will allow for 120 fps 4K game streaming, and ultrawide monitor support. Resolutions up to 3,840 x 1,600 and popular variants such as 3440 x 1440 and 2560 x 1080 will be supported.
