PlayStation’s June 2026 State of Play had a lot for PS5 owners to get excited about, from big franchise updates to surprise reveals and long-awaited gameplay. Marvel’s Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall, Rayman Legends Retold, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and God of War Laufey all helped make this one of PlayStation’s more packed showcases of the year.
The show also gave a clearer look at what’s coming next, with several PS5 games now set for late 2026 and early 2027. Some are already available to pre-order, while others are now easier to keep on your radar as launch gets closer.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: August 6, 2026
Availability: Available to pre-order
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls brings Marvel characters into a 4v4 fighting game from Arc System Works. The latest State of Play showing added Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage through the Knights of Doom lineup, with Doctor Doom leading that team.
The fighting style already looks like a strong fit for Marvel’s roster. Magneto uses debris and surrounding objects, Green Goblin attacks from the air with projectiles, and Carnage brings fast symbiote attacks that can break through guards. The Marvel’s New York at night stage also gives the game another familiar comic-inspired setting.
Marvel’s Wolverine

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: September 15, 2026
Availability: Available to pre-order
Marvel’s Wolverine was one of the biggest games shown during State of Play, with Insomniac giving a longer look at Logan in action ahead of its September 15, 2026 release. The single-player action adventure puts Wolverine at the centre of an original story involving captured mutants, the Reavers, Bolivar Trask, and Jean Grey.
The gameplay looked much more aggressive than Marvel’s Spider-Man, which fits Logan perfectly. The State of Play trailer showed close-range claw combat, parries, healing abilities, team-up moments with Jean Grey, and a motorcycle sequence tied to the Reavers.
Marvel’s Wolverine is rated Mature, so keep that in mind if you’re buying it as a gift. Pre-order bonuses include early access to the Classic Brown suit, early access to Reflective Claws, one additional Technique Point, and four PlayStation Avatars.
Dune: Awakening

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: September 22, 2026
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Dune: Awakening arrives on PS5 on September 22, 2026. The console version brings Funcom’s survival game to Arrakis with exploration, crafting, combat, base building, and full single-player support.
This gives the September PS5 lineup a different type of experience alongside the action and horror games shown during the State of Play. The PS5 release includes scalable difficulty, console-optimized controls and UI, a Book One finale, and a 60fps target in Performance Mode.
Silent Hill: Townfall

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: September 24, 2026
Availability: Available to pre-order
Silent Hill: Townfall launches September 24, 2026 on PS5. The game follows Simon in St. Amelia and uses a CRTV device as part of its puzzle and exploration design.
The new details point to a mix of story-driven puzzles, combat, evasion, and DualSense features. Adaptive triggers are used with firearms, haptic feedback connects to enemy movement, and motion controls are tied to CRTV tuning. That gives the PS5 version a few controller-specific touches alongside Silent Hill’s usual psychological horror.
Control Resonant

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: September 24, 2026
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Control Resonant launches September 24, 2026 on PS5. Remedy Entertainment’s follow-up shifts the focus to Dylan Faden as the sole playable character, with Manhattan affected by paranatural forces.
The story continues the Faden family thread from Control, with Dylan searching for Jesse after waking from his earlier containment and coma. His shapeshifting weapon is called Aberrant, and his abilities evolve as the story moves forward. If you liked Control’s strange world and supernatural combat, Control Resonant is one of the bigger September game releases to keep on your radar.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: September 25, 2026
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Onimusha: Way of the Sword brings Capcom’s action series back on September 25, 2026. This new entry follows Miyamoto Musashi in Kyoto during the early Edo period, with Oni powers, Genma enemies, and a darker historical fantasy setting.
Combat is built around timing, close-range swordplay, and knowing when to defend instead of rushing in. Parries, deflects, Issen attacks, Oni Armament, soul absorption, and Musashi’s Oni abilities all factor into battles. A PS5 demo is available now and covers part of the early story at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, with demo save data unlocking the Charm: Kubi Akari bonus in the full release.
Rayman Legends Retold

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: October 1, 2026
Availability: Available to pre-order
Rayman Legends Retold brings Ubisoft’s 2013 platformer back as a 3D reimagining using the Snowdrop engine. Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus, and Murphy return, along with a new realm and four musical stages.
The big draw here is seeing Rayman Legends rebuilt with a new 3D look while keeping its colourful co-op energy. Couch co-op supports up to four people, Kung Foot returns, and the Cave of Trials adds a challenge mode for anyone who wants more than the main adventure.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: October 2, 2026
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches October 2, 2026 on PS5. The campaign returns to Strangereal and puts you in command of Joker Squadron during a conflict involving the Republic of Sotoa and the Federation of Central Usea.
The game includes more than 30 aircraft, with missions covering air-to-air combat, ground attacks, anti-ship objectives, and large weapon battles. That mix points to a campaign with more than standard dogfights, including larger battles in the air, on the ground, and at sea.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: February 12, 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis now has a launch date. Lara Croft returns on February 12, 2027 in a full reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider.
That date was the big news here, especially for anyone waiting to see where the remake would land on the early 2027 calendar. The game sends Lara through locations tied to Atlantis, Peru, Greece, Egypt, and other dangerous areas. Traversal, puzzles, dual pistols, unlockable weapons, and the T-Rex encounter are all returning in updated form.
Until Dawn 2

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: TBA 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Until Dawn 2 is coming to PS5 in 2027 from Firesprite. The sequel follows a ghost-hunting crew tied to a paranormal channel called Dead True as they travel to an abandoned tropical island for a fully funded episode.
Like the original, choices shape which characters survive, but this is a standalone story with a new cast and setting. That makes it approachable even if you didn’t play the first Until Dawn, while still keeping the choice-driven horror structure the series is known for.
God of War Laufey

Platform: PlayStation 5
Release date: TBA
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
PlayStation saved one of the biggest surprises for the end of State of Play with God of War Laufey, a new mainline entry starring Laufey, also known as Faye. The reveal included roughly 20 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay, which made it feel like much more than a quick teaser.
The story begins after Faye’s funeral and moves into the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. Deborah Ann Woll returns to the role, and the reveal introduced Phranque, Rue, Sekhmet, and Begtse. Combat keeps parts of modern God of War but gives Faye more mobility, air movement, magic, and soul manipulation. A firm release date hasn’t been announced, but this was clearly positioned as one of PlayStation’s major future PS5 games.
PlayStation Plus and live-game updates
State of Play also included a few updates outside the main retail release calendar. Marathon Season 2, Nightfall, went live on June 2, 2026, with an Open Play Week running until June 9 and no PlayStation Plus membership required during that trial period.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is coming to PS5 later in 2026 as a day-one Game Catalog addition. PlayStation Plus Premium adds Gitaroo Man later in June 2026, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy in July, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in August.
No Rest for the Wicked is coming to PS5 in October 2026 with its 1.0 release, and Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered launches on PS5 on October 1, 2026.

More PS5 games from the PlayStation’s June 2026 State of Play
Several other PS5 games were shown during State of Play. Kemuri is coming to PS5 in 2027 as a yokai-possession action game from Unseen, the Tokyo-based studio led by Ikumi Nakamura. The Lost Wild is coming to PS5 in 2027 with survival horror built around dinosaurs, hiding, evasion, distractions, and exploration.
Stuntman: Hollywood is coming soon to PS5 with stunt-driving movie shoots, licensed properties such as Back to the Future and Knight Rider, and arcade racing structure. Bancho The Chef is also in development for PS5 as a standalone Dave the Diver prequel built around cooking and travel across Asia. Phantom Blade Zero is planned for September and will receive a dedicated State of Play later this summer. ILL is planned for PS5 in 2027.
