XBOX delivered one of its biggest June showcases in years with the XBOX Games Showcase 2026. From returning franchises and long-awaited release dates to new hardware celebrating 25 years of XBOX, the event gave fans a clearer look at what video games are coming next for XBOX Series X|S.
The biggest announcements covered a wide range of games. Halo: Campaign Evolved brings back the original campaign with new missions, Gears of War: E-Day returns to the start of the Locust War, Fable has a new February 2027 release date, and Spyro: A Realm Beyond marks the purple dragon’s first new original mainline game in nearly two decades. The event also included Minecraft Dungeons II, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, Senua, State of Decay 3, Clockwork Revolution, and the XBOX Series X25 Limited Edition console and controller.
With a mix of XBOX console exclusives, multi-platform releases, co-op adventures, RPGs, and anniversary hardware, here are the biggest announcements from the XBOX Games Showcase 2026.
XBOX 25th anniversary console and controller

XBOX’s 25th anniversary hardware was one of the biggest non-game reveals from the showcase. The XBOX Series X25 Limited Edition is a 1 TB XBOX Series X console with a translucent design inspired by the original XBOX. It also includes an illuminated green XBOX logo and a 25th anniversary mark on the front of the console.
The XBOX Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition uses the same translucent OG Green look. It includes original ABXY button colours, a transparent back case and battery door, and bumper details that reference the black and white buttons on the original Duke controller.
The console and controller are planned as a limited-edition collection in November 2026, and the controller will also be available separately. Pricing details are still to come. You can also browse current XBOX consoles, games, and accessories while waiting for more details.
On the game side, the showcase quickly shifted into release dates and major franchise updates, starting with Halo.
Halo: Campaign Evolved

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: July 28, 2026
Halo: Campaign Evolved is an Unreal Engine 5 remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, with the original 10-mission campaign and a new three-mission story arc called Operation: METEORITE. The new missions take place one year before the first game and follow Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson during a UNSC operation behind enemy lines.
The big thing here is that this isn’t just a visual update of the original Halo campaign. The new missions, cross-play, cross-progression, and PlayStation 5 version make Halo: Campaign Evolved one of the more interesting franchise returns from the show.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: August 27, 2026
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy brings another story-focused adventure into the 2026 lineup. It’s set 15 years before A Plague Tale and follows Sophia on a journey tied to Minotaur’s Island.
The earlier timeline gives the series room to explore a different part of its world without losing the familiar mix of danger, mystery, and emotional storytelling. The game also includes close-quarters combat, exploration, and dangerous trials.
Minecraft Dungeons II

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC
Release date: September 29, 2026
Minecraft Dungeons II continues Mojang’s action-focused spin on the Minecraft universe with a new dungeon crawling adventure. The reveal trailer showed unexplored lands, mysterious locations, new enemies, and a new quest tied to a new threat in the Overworld.
This one should be easy for families and co-op fans to understand. The game supports solo play, online co-op, and couch co-op for up to four people. Character customization is tied to weapons, armour, artifacts, talismans, and other gear found along the way.
Gears of War: E-Day

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S and PC
Release date: October 6, 2026
Gears of War: E-Day received a major main-show spotlight with gameplay focused on Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago at the start of the Locust War. The game takes the series back to the event that changed Sera and shaped the relationship between Marcus and Dom.
The big news for longtime XBOX fans is that Gears of War: E-Day is an XBOX console exclusive, launching on XBOX Series X|S and PC. For a series this closely tied to XBOX history, going back to E-Day feels like a strong way to bring longtime fans back while introducing the origin of the conflict to newer fans.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 also appeared during the showcase with new DMZ details. DMZ is returning as an extraction mode with solo and squad deployment, a changing combat zone, and objectives tied to advanced military technology.
The game is already available to pre-order at Best Buy Canada for XBOX Series X and PlayStation 5, with a SteelBook offer and Open Beta early access included while supplies last. You can read more in our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 pre-order details article.
Persona 4 Revival

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: February 18, 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Persona 4 Revival launches February 18, 2027, as a full reimagining of the RPG set in Inaba. Fans got the first teaser during last year’s XBOX Games Showcase, and this year’s show finally gave the remake a date.
The updated version includes refreshed visuals, gameplay improvements, and quality-of-life changes. With the February date now set, RPG fans have a return trip to Inaba to look forward to in 2027.
Fable

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: February 23, 2027
Fable returns on February 23, 2027, with Playground Games bringing Albion back as an open-world action-RPG. The new story trailer focused on Isabel, played by Hayley Atwell, and positioned her as the game’s main villain.
The cast also includes the Hero of Briar Hill, Humphry, Arden the Cobbler, Dave the Giant, Jenny, Jacob, Connor, Samira, and Nigel the Sheriff. After years of waiting, Fable finally has a firm release date and a confirmed PlayStation 5 version alongside XBOX Series X|S and PC.
METRO 2039

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: TBA February 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
METRO 2039 is coming in February 2027 from 4A Games and Deep Silver, with a story set in the tunnels beneath Moscow. The first gameplay trailer focused on Hunter, a new stealth weapon called The Shatun, and the series’ mix of exploration, combat, survival, and stealth.
After several bigger franchise comebacks, METRO 2039 adds a darker survival-focused game to the 2027 schedule. The February window also puts it close to Persona 4 Revival and Fable, making that month one of the more packed parts of the showcase lineup.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC
Release date: Early 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is Team NINJA’s sequel to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, set during the late Eastern Han period as warlords fight for control and the heroes of the Three Kingdoms begin to emerge. The game follows a nameless champion across demon-filled battlefields alongside historical heroes.
Combat is still focused on Chinese martial arts, with evolved action mechanics, larger battlefields, and powerful enemies tied to the dark fantasy setting. It’s also coming to Game Pass on day one in early 2027.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC
Release date: Spring 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Spyro: A Realm Beyond brings Toys for Bob back to the purple dragon with the first new original mainline Spyro game in nearly two decades. Tom Kenny returns as the voice of Spyro, and the game introduces a new world, expanded exploration, and full dragon flight as part of Spyro’s regular move set.
What caught my attention is how much bigger flight seems this time. Spyro has always had gliding and aerial moments, but A Realm Beyond makes flight part of how you explore, not just something saved for certain sections. Going from ground-based charging to open-air flight could make this feel like a true new Spyro adventure instead of a comeback leaning only on nostalgia.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC
Release date: TBA 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Crazy Taxi: World Tour brings SEGA’s arcade driving series back in 2027 with original creator Kenji Kanno leading the new game. The story follows Axel after masked villains steal his taxi, sending him across five cities filled with missions and challenges.
The new entry includes multiplayer modes, vehicle customization, new maps, new missions, and a Classic mode for anyone who wants the arcade-style Crazy Taxi experience.
Clockwork Revolution

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S and PC
Release date: TBA 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Clockwork Revolution from inXile entertainment is coming in 2027 as a time-bending first-person action RPG set in the steampunk city of Avalon. You play as Morgan Vanette, who uses a device called the Chronometer to manipulate time, reshape events, and change how the city responds.
The big XBOX news here is that Clockwork Revolution is an XBOX console exclusive, launching on XBOX Series X|S and PC. The time-bending idea also helps it stand apart from the other RPGs in the show, since changing the past can reshape Avalon around you.
Senua

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: TBA 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
Senua is Ninja Theory’s next game in the Hellblade universe, but it isn’t Hellblade III. It takes place after Hellblade II and follows Senua through an action-adventure structure with a larger world than the previous games.
The biggest gameplay shift is scale. It has a single interconnected map, deeper combat, freer traversal, boss fights, puzzle solving, and multiple weapons, while still staying tied to Senua’s perspective and mental health themes.
State of Decay 3

Platforms: XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
Release date: TBA 2027
Availability: Pre-orders coming soon to Best Buy Canada
State of Decay 3 moved into clearer focus with its first gameplay reveal. Undead Labs is building the game in Unreal Engine 5, with open-world survival, settlement building, weapon crafting, zombie combat, solo play, and shared-world co-op for up to four people.
The sequel adds up to three bases, larger playable spaces, new Plague Nests, and more flexible co-op. The shared-world setup is the part that sounds most useful if you like survival games with friends. You can build toward one settlement together or split off to different parts of the map.
More games and updates from the XBOX Games Showcase 2026
The XBOX Games Showcase had a lot more games after the major release-date reveals, including returning series, DLC, live-game updates, and one more major RPG teaser. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse brings another classic series back into the spotlight. It’s set 23 years after Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse and follows Rose Belmont against Dracula, Death, and other enemies. It’s coming to XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The darker action continued with DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations, which launches July 7, 2026, as campaign DLC. It adds new levels, puzzles, demons, and the Chain Spear weapon. The Ripatorium 3.0 update also arrives free for existing DOOM: The Dark Ages owners. Live-service updates were part of the show too. Sea of Thieves Season 20 arrives June 18, 2026, with Custom Seas, letting you create custom modes, add items and enemies, assign crews, and use a Free Camera mode.
Fallout 76 received the free Infestations update on June 7, 2026, while Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is getting World Update 22 in early July 2026 with more than 30 U.S. national parks and National Championship Air Races planned for fall 2026. The Persona news went beyond Persona 4 Revival. Persona 6 is now official as the next main Persona game, with more details planned after Persona 4 Revival. No release date was announced.
