What’s in the box of the KitchenAid Pure Power blender?

In the box of the Pure Power blender, you’ll find the blender’s motor base, which peaks at 1700 watts. You’ll also find a 2 L (68 oz) BPA-free jar and a 500 mL (16 oz) BPA-free personal blender jar. The 2 L jar comes with a vented, removable lid, and both blending jars come with asymmetrical stainless steel blade bases.
Also included in the box is a user manual and a quick start guide.
What are the features of the KitchenAid Pure Power?

The KitchenAid Pure Power blender is designed for powerful blending performance. It’s meant to be a workhorse of a machine that has a lot of flexibility in every aspect. It can handle personal blending, family meal prep, hot, cold, and more.
The Pure Power 2 L jar is perfect for use with both hot and cold recipes. It’s spacious and easy to clean, and it’s great for blending smoothies, purées, and even hot soups. It’ll be your go-to for large recipes like soup and meal prep, and it’s designed with a heat-release vent to safely blend up to 1.18 litres of hot liquids at once.
The base of the Pure Power features an on/off button, a smoothie button, an ice crush button, and a clean button. It has a precision speed control knob with 10 speeds, but it’s sensitive to speeds in between those numbers, too.
For single servings, the Pure Power comes with a 500 mL personal blender jar.
What’s the advantage of a personal blending jar?
Personal blending jars are great for those on the go. They’re the ideal receptacle for large, single servings of smoothies—of all types. Whether you like a citrusy green juice or a sweet, thick milkshake, the Pure Power’s 500 mL personal blending jar holds a perfect two cups of your favourite treat.
It perfectly fits protein shakes, frozen fruit smoothies, and crushed ice lemonades. I really love the option of having the two separate sizes for blending. The smaller jar is great for bringing with you to the gym or to an errands run, and it has other uses, too.
I opt for 500 mL blending jars for smaller recipes like salad dressing and single-serving hummus. They’re recipes that you might have to double or even triple in a large blending jar in order to get a super-smooth blend. But, with a personal jar, you can achieve similar results with way less waste… And way less clean-up.
What makes this personal blending jar so great?

KitchenAid uses the same four-leaf, asymmetrical blade design for the Pure Power’s personal blending jar as it does in its two litre jar. That means you get the same power- and ice-crushing-optimized design in their personal container as you do in your large batch container.
That isn’t always the case, so it’s great to see in this blender.
As a result, you’ll never have to sacrifice blending power for batch size in the Pure Power. You’ll be able to use the personal blending jar not just for small servings of smoothies, but also for grinding, ice crushing, puréeing, and any of your regular blender needs.
I really like 500 ml blending jars for making salad dressings. With its asymmetrical blades, I can add nuts and seeds and know they’ll be perfectly incorporated.
How does the Pure Power perform with ice?
This KitchenAid blender is a versatile appliance, but it’s really designed with the extremes in mind: soup and ice. It’s optimized for hot liquids with its heat-release vent, and for ice with its asymmetrical blades.
The staggered blades of this blender curve up on their ends and hit your mixture at different heights. This asymmetry is a small detail, but it helps the blender effectively crush ice, nuts, frozen fruit, and other tough ingredients.
In my testing, I found that the Pure Power effectively uses its blade design and motor patterns to essentially “bounce” hard ingredients, facilitating a more homogeneous end result. The “bouncing” movement pattern means that each piece of ingredient comes into contact with the blender’s blades at multiple angles. Each piece gets crushed or blended equally.
With this blender, I was able to crush ice and water into a fine powder that resembled snow (or shaved ice)—a very impressive feat at its price point.
What I made in the Pure Power

To test the Pure Power, I made a strawberry milk slush over brown sugar tapioca pearls. It was a two step process, and this KitchenAid blender did a fantastic job of both steps.
First, it crushed my freeze-dried strawberries into a super fine powder. The result was fairly consistent, and took only a few seconds to achieve.
I was able to achieve a cornmeal-like consistency in the Pure Power’s personal blending jar despite only blending 20 grams of whole, freeze-dried strawberries. It also did a great job of integrating the strawberry powder into soy milk when I was ready.
Second, this blender turned my strawberry milk into a slush with incredible ease. I blended about 12 large ice cubes with about a cup of strawberry milk.
The Pure Power’s “Ice Crush” setting wasn’t as effective as I needed it to be to create a slushie-like texture, but it did an excellent job of creating crushed ice. Its cyclical speed pattern created the “bounce” effect mentioned above to get a very nice, crushed result in the blender’s 2 L jar.
Then, I was able to blend my crushed ice mixture into a snowy, slushie-like drink by turning the Pure Power up to 10 and running it for 45 seconds. The results were lovely, smooth, and icy.
