Nintendo delivered a packed June 2026 Nintendo Direct with one of its strongest looks yet at the future of the Nintendo Switch 2. After PlayStationSummer Game Fest, and XBOX events helped kick off the summer gaming showcase season, Nintendo stepped into the spotlight with it’s own exciting show.

The biggest announcements covered a wide range of games with some incredible surprises. One of the most exciting reveals was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being remade for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo also offered a strong first-party showing with new looks at Star Fox, the newly announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and more footage for the single-player-focused action game Splatoon Raiders.

With a mix of Nintendo exclusives, action titles, and third-party releases, here are the biggest announcements from the June 2026 Nintendo Direct.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake

Nintendo’s biggest announcement was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being reborn exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 system in 2026. Bringing one of the most beloved games of all time to a new generation of players.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been revisited before, but a full modern remake for the Nintendo Switch 2 has me incredibly excited. Between its legendary dungeons, time-travel story, and place in Nintendo history, this was easily one of the biggest, if not the biggest, reveals of the Nintendo Direct, and I can’t wait to see more.

Splatoon Raiders

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: July 23, 2026

Splatoon Raiders brings a new single-player-focused adventure to the Splatoon universe. Players explore the mysterious Spirhalite Islands alongside Deep Cut. Using ink-based weapons, upgradeable gadgets, and a powerful Bot Buddy to battle Salmonid enemies and hunt for treasure.

Star Fox

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

Star Fox returns on Nintendo Switch 2 with a cinematic take on Star Fox 64. The game features overhauled character designs, revamped stages, detailed cutscenes, fully voiced dialogue, and an orchestral soundtrack. Nintendo also confirmed several modern features beyond the visual overhaul. This includes optional Joy-Con 2 mouse-controlled targeting, GameChat support, new modes, and online multiplayer. 

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: October 22, 2026
Availability: Upcoming

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort brings players back to Wuhu Island for a new motion-controlled sports collection. Players can create a Mii character or “Sportsmates” avatar. Joy-Con 2 controllers as rackets, bows, handlebars, and more across 12 sports.

The lineup includes Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Skateboarding, Power Cruising, and Prop Plane. There are even Jump Rope warm-ups. I’m really looking forward to this one; it’s sure to be a hit in my household.

Kingdom Hearts IV

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

One of the biggest surprises was Kingdom Hearts IV, and Square Enix gave us an exciting first look. We got a glimpse at Quadratum, the mysterious city tied to Sora’s next chapter. Seeing Kingdom Hearts IV return during a Nintendo Direct was one of the highlights of the presentation.

Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III]

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: October 8, 2026

Before Kingdom Hearts IV arrives, Nintendo Switch 2 players will be able to catch up with Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III]. The package includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind. This is an essential collection for anyone who has wanted to experience the series natively on Nintendo hardware.

Xenoblade Genesis

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

Monolith Soft revealed Xenoblade Genesis, a new beginning for the Xenoblade series coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Nintendo did not reveal many story details, but the announcement alone was enough to make it one of the Nintendo Direct’s biggest RPG moments.

The timing was smart, too. Nintendo also announced Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of the existing Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy. Which means fans will have a stronger way to revisit the series before Xenoblade Genesis arrives.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave received a strong new showing during the Nintendo Direct. The tactical RPG introduces the Heroic Games and four new central heroes: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. Between battles, you can explore the capital city of Dagsion, train, strengthen bonds, recruit new allies, and travel beyond the city walls to gain experience.

The Duskbloods

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: TBA 2026

FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods returned with news of a closed network test coming this summer. The multiplayer action game lets players take on the role of the Bloodsworn. You’ll be able to fight against and alongside up to seven other players.

The game remains one of the most interesting Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives on the horizon. From Software’s name alone brings major attention alone. The PvPvE structure, blood-based powers, unique weapons, and multiplayer focus make this especially interesting.

Rhythm Heaven Groove

The game includes more than 80 solo rhythm games and over 30 co-op and competitive multiplayer games, all built around simple timing challenges and catchy music.

The Rhythm Heaven series has always had its own wonderfully strange personality, and this new entry looks like it fully understands that charm. It also includes local multiplayer for up to four players and an unlockable mode called Beatspell, where players use rhythm to cast spells and defeat monsters.

Pokémon Pokopia free update and Expansion Pass

Pokémon Pokopia is getting more content this August with a free update and a paid Expansion Pass. The free update adds the new Dive move, letting players explore the ocean floor, plant grass, build structures, and create underwater towns alongside Pokémon.

Part 1 of the paid Expansion Pass, “Bubbly Basin,” introduces a new underwater town with new furniture, outfits, and Pokémon friends. It is exactly the kind of update that fits the Pokémon Pokopia game’s cozy structure, expanding the world in a way that feels natural for players who enjoy building, decorating, and exploring.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Platform: Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: December 3, 2026

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World brings Square Enix’s monster-collecting RPG series back to Nintendo platforms. Players will be able to discover, scout, train, and synthesize monsters, creating new companions and building customized teams.

Final Fantasy Resonance

Platform: Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
Release date: October 22, 2026
Availability: Upcoming

Final Fantasy Resonance brings the Final Fantasy series into HD-2D style with a new standalone adventure. The game features turn-based battles, a strategic battle system, voiced characters, dramatic cutscenes, and classic Final Fantasy elements like chocobos, airships, and an overworld. It looks to be a nostalgic celebration of the series while still giving fans a new adventure to play.

More games and updates from the June 2026 Nintendo Direct

The June 2026 Nintendo Direct had plenty more after the major spotlights, including third-party sequels, updates, and more.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 25, 2026. The experience will include intense swordplay and Joy-Con 2 motion-control support. 

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches October 9, 2026, bringing Capcom’s open-world action RPG to Nintendo Switch 2 with a new icy region called Norgan. 

Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition arrives June 23, 2026. It includes Dante’s rival Vergil as a playable character and 60 fps performance in both TV and handheld modes.

Rayman Legends Retold launches October 1, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, reimagining Ubisoft’s beloved platformer with new 3D visuals, narrative twists, a mysterious sixth realm, a new villain, expanded music, and a revamped Kung Foot multiplayer mode. 

Orbitals launches September 3, 2026, as a two-player co-op adventure built around teamwork in a retro anime-inspired universe.

Exciting RPGs coming to the Nintendo Switch 2

RPG fans have so much to look forward to with the announcement of new and returning role-playing games to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy gets upgraded for Nintendo Switch 2

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, available now digitally, with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition coming July 30 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arriving December 3. The first Nintendo Switch 2 Edition includes 4K resolution on compatible TVs, full HD in handheld mode, 60 fps gameplay, a high-speed vehicle, racing modes, new equipment designs, and new Heart-to-Heart voiceover. Physical versions of the three Nintendo Switch 2 Editions are planned for July 30, October 1, and December 3, respectively.

We also got a look at the critically acclaimed Metaphor: ReFantazio, which comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12th. While Deltarune Chapter 5 launches June 24 as a free update for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 players. Other announcements included Lies of P: Complete Edition, arriving digitally on August 6th, and Lords of the Fallen II, in Fall 2026.

Nintendo Direct “sizzle reel” highlights

Nintendo also packed several more games into a quick sizzle reel, highlighting a mix of ports, updates, and upcoming releases for Nintendo Switch 2. The lineup included Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, available now, followed by Observer: System Redux on June 18 and Fitness Boxing 3: Your Personal Trainer – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on July 16.

Final Fantasy XIV Online is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in August 2026, with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 arriving this summer on August 27th.

Looking further ahead, DayZ Cool Edition is planned for later this year, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is set for this holiday season, and Everbloom is coming in Spring 2027.
