The coolest toy tech for father’s day fun

One of my favourite things about Father’s Day is how it lets me be a kid again. When my kids were younger, this often meant building a LEGO kit together. Now that they’re older and into high tech toys like drones, robotic kits and R/C vehicles, Father’s Day means I get to relive being a kid while playing with gear I find genuinely fascinating —all while bonding with my own kids. If there’s a dad in your life who’s just waiting to unleash his inner child, I’ve put together some high tech toy suggestions from Best Buy’s extensive selection of gear that will have dad (and his kids) pretty happy on Father’s Day.

Review – Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, The MIlitary Sim Steps Forward

It’s Call of Duty, not like I’m talking about some unknown quantity… but that started working against this juggernaut of a franchise by the time the heralds of a new hardware generation started sounding.  We were done with Modern Warfare, and we’d had our share of Black Ops, what’s next?  Well Activision and Sledgehammer Games had an answer, it was ‘advanced’ warfare, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Fifa 15 – World Class Soccer Never Looked So Good

A global sport, Soccer (or Football, depending on where you live) has long been paired with another platform of universal acceptance and immersion, the video game.  From pixels of color crudely punting a block on a dimly rendered plain, to cutting edge in facial animations, ball physics, crowd reactions, you name it, the Sports Game is sitting pretty, and never more so than with Fifa 15. With 600 new animations, dynamic AI, increased competition on the pitch, and more, the ‘Beautiful Game’ has never looked better.

Review: Sphero’s Ollie spins circles around its Robot competitors

For the most part, many of the iOS based toys nowadays have potential, but are very limited to what they can do. The Parrot Mini-Drones for example were fun, but not that expansive in ability. They both also cost more than the Sphero Ollie, a brand new challenger into the fold. Ollie comes from the same science and physics loving minds behind the Sphero and promises to continue branching fun and physics at an affordable price. You know what? It’s great fun too.  Come check out the Sphero Ollie.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to offer a terrifying look at future conflict

Can you imagine what our world would look like with private military for hire, and all nations struggling against each other constantly at war?  Sledgehammer Games and Activision want to give you a look into that this year in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. With a completely new dynamic to the series, and a voice cast including the likes of Kevin Spacey, this November promises to be an earth-shattering look into war many years from now.  Find out more after the jump.

Review: Sunset Overdrive might just be the best Xbox One game yet

It’s been a little while now since Sunset Overdrive was initially announced, and it’s been on the minds of gamers (especially Xbox One owners) for well over a year now. The game, looking reminiscent of some famous titles of old like Jet Grind Radio, throws you into a modern open world full of mayhem, terror and a lot of laughs.  It should get some consideration for game of the year, and is a must for Xbox One owners.  Find out more by clicking to read.

Sony MDR-HW300K Wireless Headphone System

The Sony MDR-HW300K Wireless Headphone System transmits uncompressed audio between the base station (TMR-HW300) and the headphones (MDR-HW300). These are not bluetooth headphones, so putting them up to products in that category is not an apples-to-apples comparison.   A nice little package that sets up seamlessly and will get you enjoying wireless audio quickly. Although I wouldn’t recommend these headphones for critical listening applications, they could be just the ticket when you need that home theater punch without bothering the neighbours.
