Play at Best Buy contest The past year was great for video game lovers. Let me begin with where we left off last June. If you remember E3 was cancelled and Best Buy introduced “Play at Best Buy” to keep the momentum going with great gaming announcements and deals. Our usual June contest was late (we ran it in July last year) but it still gave everyone a chance to win a new console and some great games. The rest of the year brought some fantastic new consoles and games.

Play at Best Buy is back and on the blog we’ll be posting articles about events during E3 2021! Included will be great announcements, great gaming deals, and … this contest. Read on to learn about the amazing prizes we are giving away, then enter for a chance to win!

A year of great new gaming tech

Many of us were hunkered down in our homes playing games with new technology this past year. With the introduction of new consoles from PlayStation and Xbox and new VR tech from Oculus, the year certainly delivered! I remember the excitement in our gaming community last September when these announcements were made. That was a crazy month: PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Oculus Quest 2 were all announced within a couple weeks of each other.

Of course, they weren’t available for purchase until later that fall, and we were quick to get reviews posted for each new device so you could learn more about them. Here are links to those reviews.

Pokemon Snap
Nintendo did not give us a new console this year, though they did release many new games including the New Pokémon Snap! for the Nintendo Switch. We have reviewed almost all of the games and will be anxiously awaiting new games or console announcements from Nintendo over the following month (who knows what surprises they will bring!).

What new tech and games will be offered over the next year

The month of June is known for gaming announcements and usually a few surprises. Follow our coverage, and contribute your comments to the discussions on our articles. First, I’d suggest you enter our contests, which require a blog comment to have a chance to win. Second, I’d suggest you contribute to the conversation on other gaming articles. I have a bunch of gaming related samples at my desk and I’ll be surprising several people who leave clever, interesting, and thoughtful comments placed on E3 2021 articles with great gaming gear like headsets, gaming mice, and more.

How to enter our Play at Best Buy contest

Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in two different ways:

  1. In a comment below this article, tell us what new tech or game announced during our Play at Best Buy event are you most looking forward to in the next year.
  2. Send an email to bestbuyblog@bestbuycanada.ca with “Play at Best Buy Contest” in the subject, and tell us what new tech you are most interested in that is available at Best Buy; you must include the link to that product from the Best Buy website in your email. This could be a game, a console, a home theatre item, an appliance (airfryer!) etc … anything that will make your gaming experience better.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will randomly draw six (6) winners from all eligible entries posted on the blog (in English and French) and sent via email; each will receive one of the prizes listed here: Oculus Quest 2 package, PlayStation 5 package, Xbox Series S package, Sony Home Theatre package, Nintendo Switch package, or NETGEAR XR1000 router.

This contest runs from June 3rd until June 27th.

  11. I was fortunate enough to win a PS5 earlier this year and get a Series X on launch so I am most looking forward to either Halo Infinite, the next God of War game and hopefully playing both on a 4K tv with 120hz.

    Theres been a lot of support from Microsoft for 120fps on consoles and I want to be able to take advantage of the technology but the price point isn’t affordable yet for a TV with 120hz. The Sony Bravia XR televisions would really round out my gaming set up.

  19. I’m a sucker for anything Pokémon, so Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl as well as Pokémon Legends: Arceus are definitely on my list. Never got a chance to play the original Diamond and Pearl on the DS so that should be fun!

  31. I’m really looking forward to the Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes. I agree with everyone else that the graphics leave much to be desired but these games are the literal first thing I think of when I look back on the games I played as a kid. I’ve already pre-ordered the double pack and I started re-playing the entire series around a year ago to see some of the games I missed and to enjoy old memories again. I’m currently on Pokémon Crystal so I’ve got a long way to go but I’m enjoying every second of it.

  32. I am definitely looking forward to the Ocukus VR system. It’s a great family fun experience. With teen aged children boys hard to find things they still want to do together. With this system I know they will be happy to laugh at us parents!

  33. Definitely Horizon Forbidden West! I absolutely loved playing Horizon Zero Dawn and now with all new machines and enviroment as well as all of the new technology that’s has been put into the new upcoming game will be insane. Would be awesome to play on the ps5!

  35. I am definitely most looking forward to the release of Far Cry 6. I have been playing this series from the very beginning.

  36. A PS5, we have been trying unsuccessfully to get one since it’s release. My son graduates at the end of June, but because of Covid he will not only miss going to prom, but will not have a graduation ceremony (just like his brother who did not get a proper graduation last year). No getting together with friends to celebrate. Handing him a very long awaited PS5 would be at least one bright spot!

  38. Definitely a PS5, my girlfriend hasn’t had a PlayStation since her childhood PS3 and I’ve been frantically searching trying to find one for her as a surprise gift!

  40. I’d love to try out the Oculus Quest 2! It’s great that it works as it’s own system and doesn’t need another console. VR is so mindblowing to me and if I owned this I’d love to bring it with me everywhere to share the experience with family and friends. I think virtual concerts, games, and communication would be epic on this thing.

  45. I recently just purchased the PS5, and I got a say, I am amazed at it. I am looking forward to Horizan Forbidden West, I played and platinumed the first one and looking to do the same to this. One of the best games I have ever played.

  46. Definitely Horizon Forbidden West! When I played Horizon Zero Dawn I immediately became immersed in the open world and astonishing graphics, and when I thought it couldn’t get better the story kept getting better and better as I advanced. Can’t wait for this next one to come out!

    • I’d love to get my hands on that Xbox Series S Package with the 12 months of Game Pass Ultimate!! I’d enjoy all the endless amount of games included on Game Pass, play with my friends via online and overall, experience all the Xbox exclusives coming out in the near future.
