When late May arrives, like clockwork, excitement amongst gamers across the world begins to grow. In previous years, myself and Melanie from Blogue de Best Buy head down south in early June for E3, the annual trade show event for the video game industry.

Last year, E3 was cancelled. As a result, all of the groundbreaking announcements and surprise reveals were spread out over the entire summer. This year, E3 is back! E3 2021 is an all-virtual event that engages everyone, everywhere. The event takes place from Saturday June 12 through Tuesday June 15. And, while there are other events outside of E3 this year, you can expect the majority of big announcements to take place during E3 2021.

What companies will be at E3 2021?

You might be wondering what companies will be at E3 2021. While the list of companies attending E3 2021 continues to grow, we can confirm several high-profile video game publishers and developers, as shown below, will be making announcements and showcasing games.

  • Xbox
  • Square Enix
  • Capcom

Play at Best Buy returns

Last year, to cover all of the announcements and surprises, we launched our Play at Best Buy event. I am happy to say, just like E3, Play at Best Buy is back and better than ever! Both myself and Melanie, along with the rest of the Best Buy Blog Gaming Team, will cover all the exciting news and announcements from E3 2021 and surrounding events.

During E3 2021, you can expect the majority of the announcements and surprises to happen over the course of the week from June 12 through June 15. That means, the Best Buy Blog will have articles covering all the big announcements as well as deals throughout E3 2021. And, as we have done for many years, Best Buy will have a huge gaming contest to celebrate the festivities. Stay tuned to the Best Buy Blog for more details on the massive gaming contest. Believe me, your jaw will hit the floor when you see the prizes!

Let’s take a look at some of the events and what you can expect on the Best Buy Blog and from Best Buy during E3 2021 and Play at Best Buy.

Summer Game Fest Kickoff – June 10

Outside of E3 2021, Geoff Keighley kicks off his Summer Game Fest event on June 10 with a world premiere showcase event. Not really much is known at this time as to what will be shown, but some big names are part of the event including PlayStation and Blizzard Entertainment—to name a few.

Ubisoft Forward – July 12

Ubisoft is one of my favourite publishers and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us this year. As of yet, nothing has been confirmed as to what they will be showing. However, I expect we’ll see and hear more about Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Riders Republic—to name a few. You can probably also expect a few surprises to be thrown in during Ubisoft Forward.

PC Gaming Show & Future Games Show – June 13

As part of a double header, the PC Gaming Show and the Future Games Show will take place June 13. Both events are sure to be filled with surprises! The PC Gaming Show will be jam-packed with tons of exciting PC game reveals, announcements, interviews and never-before-seen trailers. And, the Future Games Show will showcase a mix of indie and AAA games across all formats.

EA Play 2021 – July 22

EA Play is always an exciting event, and I am expecting EA Play 2021 to have a few surprises. It goes without saying that we’ll hear about Madden NFL 22, but what else does EA have up its sleeves? You can count on Best Buy and Play at Best Buy for all the exciting news from the event.

What you can expect from Best Buy during Play at Best Buy and E3 2021?

As always, the Best Buy Blog will be your one stop for all the great gaming news and announcements during E3 2021 and surrounding events. So, what’s next? Well, for starters, you can expect a great contest to win gaming gear as we always do at this time of year. Last year we gave away a Sony 55″ 4K HDR TV with a HTG700 Sound Bar, a PlayStation 4 Pro prize pack, a Xbox One S 1TB prize pack, a Nintendo Switch prize pack and 4 PC Gaming prize packs!

What contest will we have this year for Play at Best Buy? Keep a watch on the Best Buy Blog! Soon, Martin will reveal the amazing prizes that will be part of the contest. Furthermore, you can expect to see deals during E3 2021.

  1. I have been gaming more during the past year due to covid.
I game more in the night.
I connect with other gamers and we talk about good pc setups.

  2. It’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for us all especially now that we’re well into the new (current) gen :)!

Oh, and games are getting closer and closer to movie-like quality with each generation.

  3. Like a lot of things this summer (hopefully), the return of E3 feels like we’re taking steps back towards the return of all the events we love. Don’t get me wrong: in the grand scheme of things, the concentrated effort towards public health and safety far outweighed a game conference – but maybe we can have both??

The prizes in the contest are once again amazing – and I’m most looking forward to some new Rainbow Six news and footage.

  4. Ps5 was what I was excited about. Finally got one last week. Super happy with it. Not sure whats on the horizon for new stuff.

  5. Can’t wait to see what happens this year. Thank you for all your reviews they help to make important decisions.

  6. Those pre order deals during E3 are the highlight of my year. I guess this is a bit on the sad side…

  7. Jon, I’m so excited to see what E3 brings this year. I’m really excited to see what Nintendo brings. I’ll definitely make sure I keep checking the Best Buy Blog for updates! Thanks so much to you and Mel and the gaming team for keeping us informed!

  8. Nice write up. It got me excited again for E3. I am really excited for Zelda news and Stadia info on upcoming games.
