Epson EcoTank ET-4760 review

Who wouldn’t want to save 90% on printer ink costs? And who wouldn’t be thrilled about being able to go two years without having the hassle of replacing ink? I know lots of families, students, parents of students and home office owners that would jump at this. Ink is the big draw of the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 wireless all-in-one printer. As in it comes with a two-year supply of ink (the equivalent of 80 standard individual inkjet cartridges) and with super-sized refill tanks you won’t ever have to swap out cartridges. Simply insert an ink bottle every few years and be done with it.

The appeal of a supertank printer

The Epson EcoTank ET-4760 is part of an increasingly popular category of printers known as “supertank” printers.

A supertank printer offers all the advantage of inkjet printers, including high-resolution, brilliant colour printing and support for special media like treated photo paper that makes the colours of printed images absolutely pop. But a supertank printer eliminates the two (related) disadvantages of inkjet printers: the frequency of ink cartridge refills required, and the cost of consumables.

Epson EcoTank ET-4760 review

Instead of an ink cartridge that must be replaced every time one of the colours runs out, the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 uses four big ink tanks. Each has a clear window so ink levels can be seen at a glance without needing to open the printer, check the display, or run a supply diagnostic on a computer. You can see exactly how much ink is remaining, so there are no “out of ink” surprises. Epson includes four EcoTank ink bottles in the box (Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow) and you use these to fill up the tanks. Once done that’s it. With an estimated 7,000 pages of black and 6,000 pages of colour printing, you won’t need to worry about refilling for a long time—an estimated two years.

When you do need to fill up a tank, just buy the colour that’s run out—you don’t waste ink or money by having to replace them all at the same time. Speaking of saving money, the EcoTank ET-4760 also supports two-sided printing.

This all-in-one printer does everything

Unless you have a home office, you probably won’t use the fax functionality, but this all-in-one printer is packed with other features. It includes a built-in flatbed scanner, and uses that capability to also act as a photocopier. Load up to 30 pages in the feeder and copy in colour or black and white. The paper tray holds up to 250 pages of letter or legal-size paper and it supports printing on a huge range of paper sizes and types. you can even manually feed paper up to 8.5-inches by 47-inches for printing banners.

Epson EcoTank ET-4760 review

Print quality is excellent. Epson’s MicroPiezo and PrecisionCore technology offers print resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch). Colour pages print at up to 8 ppm (pages per minute) while black can print at up to 15 ppm. In testing, text was black and crisp. I didn’t have any photo paper handy, but I printed several high-resolution photos on letter-sized copy paper. The images came out sharp, colour-accurate and despite the fact that I was using porous paper and printing over a large area, there was no sign of banding. The ink also dried very quickly with minimal rippling of the paper.

Lots of connectivity options and even voice control

Wireless printers are very popular (especially for home and small office use) because there’s no need for cables and they can be placed anywhere there’s room. Once connected to your Wi-Fi network, the Epson EcoTank ET-4760 offers all the advantage of wireless including the ability to easily print from not just a PC, but also your mobile devices. While I did print some documents from a Mac (no installation required, by the way, just pick the new printer from a dropdown), for the most part during testing I printed from my iPhone.

Epson takes the wireless connectivity to the next level with support for voice assistants. With a supported smart speaker or similar device and a little extra setup (including an Epson Connect account), you can tell Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant to print on the Epson printer.

Perfect for students and home office use

If your household prints a few pages here and there then you aren’t really the target demographic for a printer like the Epson EcoTank ET-4760.

  1. The best thing is obviously that you don’t need to replace ink for 2 years!! That would be amazing. I also like that it prints photos colour accurate and sharp. That’s an important feature to me.

  2. The best feature is the large ink tanks for colour printing – my son is just getting to that stage where he has to print a lot for school (and more now with remote learning!)

  3. What a great giveaway. This Epson EcoTank would come in handy with 5 kids now doing they’re school work from home. I love the idea of the huge ink reservoir. And the savings in cost and waste! The wireless voice control and the high resolution are also pretty cool.

  4. I love the idea of having the big ink tank and that you can actually see how much ink there is in the cartridges as you can’t see how much there is in others only by what the printer tells you and that is not always true, It may say there isn’t any but in actuality there is ink left but the little chip is designed to say there isn’t any left. If you know how to get around that you can make cartridges stretch a bit longer, but alot of people don’t know that or how to get around it. I learned this when I worked for an ink and toner company. I would love to have one of these in our home for son’s projects as well as my own. Would be a great addition and well used for sure. Best of luck everyone.

  5. Must try! It’s a supertank wireless printer. Super ink tank can last up to 2 years without a refill. It’s a smart printer with voice control. Save money, save time, save space, save in everything that you can imagine. What else do you want. Must action fast!

  6. I have students at home and yes we do print a lot as more kids are being home schooled during Covid-19. This printer sound great with it’s large reservoir which means we can print more and not have to worry about the ink running out. Great article.

  7. This review is very informative! I love the speed of the printer…15 pages for black ink is great! I also love that I can connect it to google home and it works wirelessly! That is an awesome feature I would love to have! It would be so awesome to have one of these because I’ve been working from home more frequently these days.

  8. This looks like the printer for me!!! So many great features but that large ink tank with the ability to refill as needed is fantastic!! Would really appreciate this and use it often! Tha is for the chance to win!!

  9. I love the huge ink reservoir I hate having to refill my ink all the time and this one sounds awesome

  11. Wow that’s amazing! I’m loving the amount of ink it can hold. It would last forever! Thank you for doing a review:)

  12. The super ink tank sounds awesome! If I didn’t have to worry so much about ink and the quality of the images I would have more pictures printed and up on my walls!

  13. Love that you can scan more than one paper at a time as our current printer requires us to lift the lid and put one in at a time. It is also rather finicky about which computer it lets us scan from. We need an upgrade either way. LOL

  14. Wow, that’s a lot of features! I think the wireless connectivity and voice assist would be interesting, but the ink management is the biggest draw here!

  15. The quality of that picture on regular paper was amazing! I also love that clear window so you can see the levels on ink left.

  16. there are numerous features on this Epson EcoTank ET-4760 printer that are great. I love that it comes with a two-year supply of ink. Love that it works with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant to print and also the huge 250-paper tray and 30-page document feeder. All fantastic features!

  17. I love the refillable ink wells. Changing cartridges and their expense is what I dislike about printers in general.

  18. what I love most about the Epson Ecotank 4760 printer is it will save me money because it uses refillable ink tanks and will print for up to two years with ink included with the printer. thats “big” for me! I also love that the printer works well with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant to print

  19. I love that I can refill the tank which saves me $. I’d never have to wonder if it’s cheaper buying a new printer.

  20. Duplex printing is definitely my favourite feature, but the large reservoir is definitely a close second.

  21. The massive reservoir is the top feature for me. It would be great to avoid having to refill frequently!

  22. This is a dream printer . Is it weird that I’m getting teary eyed thinking about owning it ? Lol . Everything about this printer is great but the best thing is that it’s refillable and it can last 2 years without having to refill it . Thanks doe the Chance .

  25. I love the fact that it has large tanks and I can control it using voice.oh I can also send faxes…amazing

  26. Somehow what was supposed to be a paperless generation has resulted in a lot of paper and printing! Quality products are essential in my home as we want the the children to succeed – to not run into poor quality print jobs because Dad was not on top of the ink would be great! We need a super tank!

  27. I like the low cost for the ink. So many times I have wanted to print but have not. Thanks for the review.

  28. This would surely save on dried up ink cartridges. I love the idea that it has large tanks and you can buy single colours. Even more that, I love that I can control it using voice commands. How cool is that.

  29. Great review. I like that you showed with detail the printed photo.
I was on the fence about purchasing the printer until now. Thanks!
