Modern computing accessories like Seagate storage solutions help boost productivity and security and are great for anyone who works from home. Some people want an ultra portable solution like the One Touch SSD that is light-weight and compact yet still able to store a lot of information. Others prefer a massive Firecuda Gaming Dock with the super fast Thunderbolt 3 connection to get the data to and from your computer with minimal delay, you know Seagate is a great option to handle your data. This contest has both options available as prizes: one winner will get the portable solution, one winner will get the high-capacity solution.
Seagate protects you from putting all your eggs in one basket
Idioms are beautiful language tools that, among other things, enable us to address complex topics in simple terms that are accessible to everyone. The idiom above about eggs in a basket is a great example: the eggs are your data; the basket is the harddrive in your computer; the risk is to lose all data if that one storage location fails or falls or is stolen, etc.
Industry experts have been advising people for decades to back up data. There was a time when that meant using multiple floppy disks; now it is much easier thanks to the options like those from Seagate.
How much storage do you need?
More than you think, is the short answer. If your data is mostly word files, pdfs, some image, for a small family or small business, then get 500 GB or 1 TB. This amount of storage is available in very small packages these days: like the Ultra Portable prize offered in this contest. Learn more about this prize in this article on the blog.
If you are a gamer and you need storage for huge game files, game downloads, or video files, then you need at least a couple terabytes and this contest has a 4TB prize that will serve your needs. I actually sent this product to Dave Neufeld for a review from a gamers viewpoint, and to Brad Moon for a review from a productivity viewpoint. Dave found that as a gamer, this was the ultimate epicenter of his gaming setup. Brad, however, suggested that you might not get the most from this unless you regularly managed large files, and had a computer capable of capitalizing on the high data transfer rates from the Firecuda.
So think about it: how much storage do you think you really need in your home? That’s the question to answer.
How to enter
Entering is easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us how much storage you think would be ideal in your home to backup data on your computers. Is 500GB enough or do you need a lot more?
What you can win
At the end of this contest we will draw two winners. One will win the 500GB One Touch SSD and the other will win the 4TB Seagate Firecuda Gaming Dock.
This contest runs from April 1st to April 15th.Â
Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably have a friends or perhaps someone in your family who should backup their data more often. Tell them about the contest so they too have a chance to win.
I teach, so I have a lot of backup files from students (2TB needed)
I am divorced (single) and retired, so a 500GB NVMe is my current boot drive. A portable 500GB drive would be valuable as a backup.
I have a gamer in the house so I would need 2 TB
4TB would be awesome for myself & family gaming needs. Fantastic contest.
#COVID19 #StayHome #StaySafe
I like to rip my DVDs and BluRays, so the bigger the better!
500 GB to 1 TB would be good for me!
With a gamer son, I would need the 4TB. Thanks for the contest
Realistically, you can never have enough backup. But 1tb is probably fine.
And wow, RGB really is everywhere now eh
I believe you can never have enough storage. 4TB would be a good start. Also having a few so you can take what you want elsewhere (ie just photos) without having to take it all.
500Gb would allow me to backup all I need!
I think 500 GB would e enough for my needs right now.
4Tb Would help me back up all my SD cards And camera shots
4tb + would be perfect at our home. With 4 pcs that are used for work, media streaming, archiving and gaming, room to grow is always welcome.
I think 500 GB would be great especially depending on how you use it. It should be enough. Thanks for the opportunity be safe out there.
@kareemslick
Two terabytes is good for me.
That would be perfect for my son who needs the space for school.
just for photos probably 1tb
I think 500GB would be enough to backup my important documents and photos
500 gb would work for me
I always figured i’d never need more than 4TB for gaming….
and then my son noticed it lol.
I need at least 2 TB
I actually do my backups with a 256 Gb USB key. All the important info is saved on that key. Pictures and videos are backed up somewhere else. I guess that the 500 Gb SSD would be perfect for me.
I’m actually eying up 3 of those 10tb Seagate drives right now to throw in my Nas. I’m a data hoarder.
I’d be so lucky to have 4TB extra for storage for video s of my new born son, and adding more material to my personal cloud to my family to share memories all together.
On a personal note, it’d be fantastic to have extra days for my movie, music, and other program back ups for running Plex Media as well as open cloud solutions for helping business in January side job.
I think I would need more than 500GB if I could choose since I delete a lot I would maybe like to save. 2TB to be sure
My sons would love the 4 T gaming block. Thanks for the chance
In my case, I have a 2TB that is almost full. So I suspect 5 to be a good amount for me. But 4GB would do just as well. I store and catalogue a lot of media.
I would love to win this for my son, he is a gamer and would need at least 2TB. Thank you for the chance!
I need at least 3 tb because I work on large datasets. So, 5tb is ideal for me. But 4TV works as well
It is never enough to have several storages. 500gb SSD is a good replacement for OS. 4TB will be just a backup.
I remember when 500gb come out, it cost over $250. Now I have at least 10tb. I have a backup of backup of backup for Picture, VCD, DVD, HD quality of all kind souvenir with friends and families.
For me, 4x 1tb is better then 1x 4tb
I think bigger is better. A 500GB drive wouldn’t be enough for me. Pictures and videos of family and friends add up quickly. A 4TB drive would help backup everything for a few years.
I definitely could use a big hard drive. I think the 4TB Seagate Firecuda Gaming Dock would be great for everything I need.
More is always better! We always underestimate what we need but life isn’t getting smaller. Even in these uncertain times we are taking pictures, saving files, creating content, and it adds up. Plus we want to protect our memories of times past. If I could get both storage devices I would be thrilled! Back in the day 500GB was stellar, now I think it’s a minimum, even on SSD. 4TB is good, more would be better to account for having the device for a reasonable period of time for more than one person’s use.
I’d say I would need at least 1TB of storage to back everything that I have up. I have thousands of photos that I back up on a hard drive plus hundreds of videos. 1TB is a little overkill but having that much would keep me from having to purchase multiple hard drives
5 or more TB would be wonderful. I always seem to be running out of space to store videos, pictures, and apps.
Basically the more the better however between 4tb and 8tb it is now affordable (cost per GB).
I would need 5 TB for storing all of our photos
I think we would need 5 TB for all our photos.
I currently use an old 500GB drive but it’s pretty much full of pictures now. As picture and video file sizes have increased over the years storage just doesn’t go as far as it used to. I think 4TB would be a good upgrade, with enough room to keep my family’s memories backed up for a few years.
4TB +
Lots of documents, pictures, videos, games, etc..
My computer is sluggish with the amount of photos! 2 TB or 3 TB? Would take any extra storage! Thank you!
Since I started gaming on PC again, 4TB would ideal for games. I have a 3TB external drive for my Xbox One and it’s over 50% full.
With more time, I’m starting to scan old photos dating to the 1960’s … and I have a couple dozen albums. 500GB could suffice, I hope.
We need a lot more my husband is a music junky and he is now converting his LP’s to mp3 so we need more storage a long time ago!
That’s a good question! I think 1 TB would suffice! 🙂
One terabyte should be enough for me.
With just the one computer I think 500 GB would suffice
Any additional is always nice, but I think the portability of the One Touch 500GB SSD fits me better right now.
I think that 1tb would be ample for us
Martin, thank you for the contests and great product reviews.
We would need 2TB FOR ALL OUR COMPUTERS AND PICTURES
For me a 10 TB HDD would be ideal for storing movies, videos, and music.
