Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra design and everyday use

Samsung Galaxy Fold8 Ultra foldable phone folded and unfolded side by side

When I first started using Samsung’s new phone, I immediately noticed the change in design. Samsung has focused on making the device slimmer, lighter, and more ergonomic, so it feels more natural to use whether it’s folded or unfolded. Checking messages is easier, replying to an email is quick and effortless. When you unfold the device, you instantly have a spacious workspace at your fingertips. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is no longer simply designed to impress tech enthusiasts; it delivers a more advanced multitasking experience.

Large display for work, multitasking, and entertainment

Since I rely heavily on my phone for work, screen size is incredibly important to me. This is where the Fold8 Ultra really stands out. Equipped with an advanced processor and a large, bright display, it’s designed to keep up with even your busiest days. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X display delivers smooth scrolling and vibrant, true-to-life colours, while the ultra-bright screen ensures a comfortable viewing experience both indoors and outdoors.

The inner display provides an immersive experience for reading, productivity, and entertainment. You can easily read a report, annotate a document, watch a show, or work with two apps side by side. I find this particularly useful when I’m in a meeting, grading my students’ assignments, or travelling to meet with a client. After just a few days of use, going back to a traditional smartphone makes the smaller screen feel surprisingly limiting. In my opinion, the ability to seamlessly switch between a phone and a mini tablet remains the Fold series’ greatest strength.

Performance and Galaxy AI features

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra packs high-end components that can handle multitasking with ease. I find this particularly appealing because it makes it easier to run demanding games and use a variety of creative apps.

The real star of the show is Galaxy AI. For the past few years, Samsung has been steadily refining its artificial intelligence to make everyday tasks simpler, faster, and more efficient. For example, you can use the large display to access smart summaries, real-time translation, writing assistance, and contextual search tools. AI doesn’t replace the user; instead, it helps save time and stay focused on what matters most. The result is greater productivity and, ultimately, more time saved.

Photo, video, and content creation on Samsung’s foldable phone

Photo taken with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra camera

For content creators, whether amateur or professional, Samsung continues to build on its strong reputation in mobile photography. Photos are detailed and crystal clear thanks to the 200MP camera. Colour balance and low-light performance are also quite impressive. The foldable design offers a practical advantage when taking photos or shooting videos. You can place the phone on a surface to film without a tripod or use the main cameras to capture high-quality selfies. I appreciate this flexibility.

The 10MP front-facing camera takes clear, vibrant selfies. The Super Steady feature with horizontal locking keeps your video footage upright for smooth, stable videos.

Battery life and everyday use

While testing the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, I found that it easily handled a full day of work, web browsing, photography, and entertainment, despite its large display. Fast charging lets you quickly regain several hours of battery life.

The Fold8 Ultra is still a large phone. If you’re looking for a more compact foldable phone, check out our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 review.

Who should buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra?

Samsung Galaxy Fold8 Ultra review

This Samsung foldable phone is no longer reserved for gadget enthusiasts or tech-savvy early adopters. It’s designed for professionals and students who juggle multiple tasks and often need to work on the go. I’d also recommend it to frequent travelers, content creators, and anyone who wants the benefits of a large screen without having to carry a tablet. If your phone is your primary tool for both work and entertainment, the Fold8 Ultra deserves a spot on your list.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra review: My final verdict

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with its large inner display

During my test, I particularly liked the slimmer, more comfortable design. It feels great in my hand, and it’s easy to work on whether the phone is folded or unfolded. The large display genuinely changes the way you work. I really love the form factor, which makes it easy to watch shows, create content, and even make quick edits to documents. Over the past few years, Galaxy AI has become increasingly seamless and intuitive, making everyday tasks and activities faster. I particularly like the routines and document summaries. I also have to give Samsung credit for the excellent photo and video quality. The creation and editing tools make it easy to capture great shots, even in low light or with moving subjects.

Like any premium smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a significant investment. Users who primarily use their phone for social media or calls won’t get as much out of its full potential. On the other hand, those who work, create, or consume a lot of content will quickly discover its value.
