Samsung smart monitors fall somewhere between these two.

My daughter recently bought a monitor and I offered to send her a Roku streaming stick so she could watch movies on it in her apartment. The best monitor for the room would depend on the space available. The M5 is a great monitor/TV for any student, but if the space allows it, then the M7 is larger and better for videos and gaming.
The M7 32″ 4K UHD monitor would be better – a larger screen is always the way to go especially for gaming.

I think the double purpose of being a gaming monitor and a movie/tv monitor would be amazing for students especially when space is tight.

I’d go with the M7 for a dorm. It’s not physically that much bigger than the M5, but offers better screen real estate. It already saves space that a TV would use, so it should work even in a small dorm.

The Samsung M7 4k monitor with its ultra-large display area would be perfect for a busy student. Yes, it could do amazing gaming, but the screen resolution and real-estate would give any student, more than enough space to be more productive with multiple windows going: Zoom, Chat, and a PDF of notes or an e-textbook.
I have 2 future students and I think the best one for them would be the M5. First the price is more of what they can afford but more important is the dorm rooms these days are very small so this size would be a better fit.

Either of these amazing Samsung monitors would be great for students since they can be used as a computer monitor, Smart TV or even a gaming monitor. This would be the ultimate space saver in a students room. I think that the M5 would likely be best for a student though because of it’s lower price point and more compact size.
