Video gaming keeps growing. The major consoles have been out for a while now and game developers continue to bring out more action, stunning details, and incredible gameplay in the newest games this year. We expect some amazing announcements this June as we celebrate gaming with Play at Best Buy. Follow us as we cover the biggest announcements and preorders in the gaming industry. You can learn about all the gaming news in our articles and preorder many of the games soon after they are announced (or learn when preorders begin). And like every year in June, Play at Best Buy will include a huge gaming contest!
Innovation and nostalgia make gaming better every year
The gaming world is constantly adapting and building on its previous successes. Each new game is an iteration on the programming, animation, videography, and sound design that came before to bring an immersive blend of storytelling, interactive entertainment, and competition. This year we have already seen amazing games, including Star Wars: Jedi Survivor by Respawn and EA games. And Nintendo just released the highly anticipated: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Fans have been waiting for years to play this game and many are already calling it the game of the year.
Both of those titles bring a healthy dose of nostalgia with new game play features that stretch the limits of technology. We expect to see more of this trend in many of the gaming announcements over the rest of this year, especially from now to the end of June. Be on the lookout for several more reboots and sequels. Additionally, watch for potential future franchise games in the many indy titles vying for our attention.
Prizes are huge part of Play at Best Buy
The announcements started early this year with the PlayStation Showcase on May 24th. The buzz of gaming month is driven in a large part by gaming announcements, but also by the great deals that Best Buy will feature all month long. It’s just a great month to be a gamer! To top it off, Best Buy has the best gaming contest anywhere in Canada! Look at these amazing prize packages.

How to enter
Entering this contest will be fun and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below: tell us the name of a game you played in the past that you think should be redone soon. A valid entry must include all three of these parts: 1. what console you played it on; 2. what changes you suggest would make a new version exciting; and 3. on which console would you like to try this new version of the game.
- Social post: For two additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel sharing with your friends and followers that you are entering the Play at Best Buy blog contest. Let your friends know which prize package you are hoping to win and what new game you will play first if you do win; include the hashtag #PlayatBestBuyContest, so we can find your post, and include a picture from this contest page. Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
- Email a photo: If you visit any Best Buy store, take a picture with your smartphone of the gaming section in a store showing several of the games available that you love to play. Then in an email to bestbuyblog@bestbuycanada.ca with the subject line “Play at Best Buy Contest” tell us the location of the store (city, street) and attach the picture.
What you can win
At the end of the contest, we will randomly select six (6) winners from all eligible entries. These winners will be randomly assigned to the six prize packages shown above so each winner will get one of those six prize packages.
This contest runs from May 31st to June 30th.
Remember you can enter up to four times as mentioned above. Perhaps you’ve been trying to win a prize in a Best Buy Canada contest for many years and just have not been lucky. Hedge your bet by telling all of your friends and family that you really need their support for this amazing contest. They’ll likely be happy to enter this contest too. If they win, I’m sure they’ll share the prize with you.
Win a Play at Best Buy gaming prize
Good luck.
Halo 3, which I played originally on Xbox 360… just update the graphics to make it more realistic. Would be great on any platform, but especially on a new Xbox X!

I would love for the first Kingdom Hearts to be remade for current generation consoles. I originally played Kingdom Hearts on the PlayStation 2, but the worlds — although very nostalgic — are very small and limited. I would love to play it on an Xbox Series X and have it look and feel like Kingdom Hearts 3.
I played Red Dead Redemption on the PlayStation 3. I’d like to see it redone with extra content/missions for the PlayStation 5.
Tell us the name of a game you played in the past that you think should be redone soon : Zelda Ocarina of Time, Nintendo 64
What changes you suggest would make a new version exciting; just new graphic and more to explore
Which console would you like to try this new version of the game : The Switch
The game that I think should be made is red dead redemption. I played it on ps5 and will pay it again on that.
I think they should consontrate more on side story as no much info provided while playing. Game is beautiful and main story line is very interesting
Halo 3 (X360)
Give it the MCC treatment/update with more modern graphics and video settings, but preserve pretty much everything else.
Would love to play it on XSX or PC.
A game that I think needs to be remade is Metal Gear Solid 1. The game still holds a deep connection between me and m Dad. Going back to almost any game from the PS1 generation is a hurdle in itself. Getting a fully realized, highly detailed, 3rd person perspective, retelling of that story on any current platform would be a treat. Especially on PS5.
For me its gotta be Paper Mario Thousand Year Door.
1: Played it on Gamecube
2: Just update the graphics and id be happy. Maybe some extra bonus areas and bosses with more content.
3: put it on the switch where it belongs

A game I have fond memory of are the Golden Sun games on GBA. Would love to see a remake in the same vein as Advance Wars
My favorite game of all time is Celeste and my most recent playthrough was on my 8 year old Xbox one. Playing the game with a full second of input delay was definitely a new and fun twist. Recently I’ve been saving up for the ps5 VR set and have been imaging one day getting Celeste in VR. It probably would not translate that well but it’s fun to think about.
I would like a new version of Fat Princess from PS3 updated for PS5. Some more character classes would be cool, or just more players in one game to really feel like part of a massive cartoon battle. The game was very simple and unique and wouldn’t need much to stand out, it would lend itself well to modern games-as-service models with potential cosmetic items and whatnot.
Would like to see a The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess remake.
I played it on WiiU.
I would play it on whatever console Nintendo is working on.
I hope the game will include better control scheme, like one-button wolf form swap, or a remastered item wheel similar to the one for TOTK.
Would love to see a remake of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
– played on xbox
– updated graphics and extended story
– on any next gen console
Need for speed Most Wanted (the first one they did on PS2, xbox and Gamecube).
1. I’ve played it many times on PS2.
2. Some updated graphics, more cars and customization and also a bigger map would be awesome.
3. With the power of the xbox series x, this game would be vers exiting to play again!

I’d love a remake of Final Fantasy 6, which I first played on GBA. I’d like it to be done in the same vein as the 7 remake, with new graphics, but keeping the originals battle system, and done for PS5.
Parappa The Rapper and Un Jammer Lammy have been sorely under looked and under loved over the past few years. A remaster would be nice, but a style-focused, full on remake that makes it feel like a more modern rhythm game would be godly.
I used to love playing Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, on PC.
A modern reboot would be really cool. I would like to see the same concept of the original game, but with new Porsche models added.
I would love to see the game on any of the modern consoles, or PC. But I’m more of a Playstation guy these days, so I’ll say PS5.
I would say a remake or more excited a new entry would be Gargoyle/Demon’s Crest for new consoles. Love the platforming and metroidvania aspects of this Capcom Classic but it getting a 3d aspect of it could be really cool. I played all 3 games, Gargoyle’s quest I and II on gameboy and NES respectively and Demon’s crest on SNES. Would love to play it on anything new PS5/Xbox Series/PC. I generally play the most games on Steamdeck but I have everything and play them all.
Follow up or another option would be Power Stone. Played on Dreamcast of course. Would want an expanded roster, arcade mode, online, new graphics, it’s the best game, need it. Same answer for 3, all the consoles and platforms + dedicated arcades <3.
Zamboni please, ty
I would love to see a remake of Black Ops 2, I played that game so much years ago. I would definitely add newer maps and make the frame rate up to 240 FPS, and potentially also change the sound effects of the weapons. I would play it on PS5, as that is the console I have
Conkers Bad Fur Day ! Would love to see a remake of that.
Played it on my N64 which I regret selling long ago, would love to play it on the switch with friends. If I had to change anything I wouldn’t just better graphics and hopefully some new storylines
Metal Gear Solid 4 needs a remake!
1. Played it first on PS3 since that time it was never released anywhere else
2. Needs a full graphic redraw and Kojima himself involved!
3. Has to be available and playable on all of the modern platforms incumbent PC for future preservation.
Forza Horizon, the first game that started the series. Played it on Xbox 360. Improvements could include 4k textures, more open world and better multiplayer. Be nice to try the game on Xbox Series X.
Final Fantasy VI redone with the octopath traveller engine.
I posted on Twitter @mattanasio2

I played Dragon Age Origins recently again on the Xbox One and would love to see it as a remake for the Xbox Series X with updated graphics and combat gameplay!
Timesplitters should be rebooted. I used to play it on gamecube and it was so much fun. It could have much better visuals than before and smoother controls. The scenario could be a bit better too. I would love to play those games on PS5 with today’s graphics.
I played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 on the original Xbox. Updated graphics and new skaters would make it a lot better to play, it would be great on Xbox Series X
Red Dead Redemption was released back in 2010 and still remains one of my favourite games of all time. I played it via backwards compatibility on Xbox One and it serves as the finale to John Marston’s character in the game franchise. Unfortunately since it’s an Xbox 360/PS3 only title, PlayStation 5 and PC players don’t get to experience this game and it’s graphics are outdated at this point. I think a remake borrowing elements from the newer prequel: Red Dead Redemption 2 would allow new gamers to get into the series.
I would like E.V.O.: Search for Eden redone. I played it on SNES. just a graphic upgrade like they done to ActRaiser and maybe more upgrade option/ species.
I Would play it on Switch or Steam.
GAME: Dino Crisis
1. what console you played it on; PS1
2. what changes you suggest would make a new version exciting; Over the shoulder camera
3. on which console would you like to try this new version of the game: PS5
#PlayatBestBuyContest
Final Fantasy 9 should be redone soon. I played this on PS4. Surround sound 5.1 would make a new version exciting. On PS5 I would you like to try a new version of the game.
Final Fantasy IX on ps1
graphics remake and next-gen combat gameplay on unreal engine 5
Want to play on Playstation 5
I would love to see a Fire Emblem Awakening remake. Originally from the 3DS, it would be so nice to have this game on Switch with updated visuals and maybe even voice acting!
I’d love to see a remake of Bethesda’s classic Fallout 3
1. I played on Xbox 360
2. I’d love to see it remade in a modern engine with 4K 60fps support!
3. I’d be ecstatic to be able to play this on Xbox Series X!
Would like a remake or remaster of Chrono Trigger. First played this on SNES. I would love to play a pixel remaster with music remastered and ability to speed up combat or turn of encounters entirely. Would like to play this on PS5 or Switch.
Double Dragon on the SNES, with the advancement in fighting mechanics like in Spiderman I think it would be a great update to a classic game. Works live to see if on the ps5
I’d love to see Xenogears remade.
I played the original on PlayStation. They could redo the graphics, add full voice acting, and properly add the parts of the story that were rushed over on disc 2.
I’d want to play it on PS5!
Halo 3: ODST was a great game I enjoyed playing on the Xbox 360 and added more Halo universe lore outside of Master Chiefs story. A remake or a new Halo ODST game would be great to play on Xbox Series X. A change I would make would be to have a game mode that had short stories linked with events that happened in the main Halo games but from the ODST/non-Master Chief perspective to go along with a regular campaign story.
Bloodbourne. Demon’s Souls received a very solid remake and Bloodbourne deserves the same treatment.
I played X-Men Legends on the Xbox, which could make a great remake. A third-person, over-the-shoulder view and the ability to play as versions of characters from the newer films and comics would be fun. I’d love to see an Xbox Series X take on this game.
Posted on Twitter: kencho416. I hope to Win!
I would love to see a Chrono Trigger Remake which I played on the SNES and Nintendo DS. Still the best RPG ever made and it would be amazing with modern 3d graphics with the power of the PS5!
Need for Speed: Underground 2
Classic game I played on my first ever console, a Nintendo Gamecube!
A simple remastering of the game for current gen consoles would be perfect! The game is a masterpiece as it is!!
Bring it to the Xbox Series X!

Midnight Club Series, This needs to be released on all consoles and PC with cross play. Would love to see this game in HDR.
Death Rally on PC
Would just need to redo graphics in 4k basically, it was an amazing game. Would be great on PS5 or Xbox
A game I played in the past I would love to remake is inFAMOUS. I played it on the PS3. If I were to have it remade I would definitely improve the visuals with 60 FPS. I would add improvements to the Karma system.
In inFAMOUS it’s usually pretty black and white when it comes to good and evil. I’d hide the choices karma effect and add more neutral options as well so people will have to see how the world reacts to their decisions. I’d bring it to PS5 exclusive to take advantage of the hardware.

A game I played recently was Quake on my Nintendo Switch, I don’t think that the game needs much updating asides from graphics, it’s a fantastic game purely for it’s gameplay and a ton of fun, I’d like to see a revisit to the series as there hasn’t been a new Quake title for quite some time and hopefully on the PlayStation 5 and Series X.
