Video games and music go hand in hand

Finally, a game’s soundtrack can help brand it—and leave a lasting impression while creating many favourable memories.

As a direct result, video game concerts have become popular all over the world with gamers. Many concerts travel the globe to sold out crowds. Not only is it a great way to connect with other gamers in the community but it also is an incredible experience that you won’t soon forget. Let me tell you about my experience with a recent video game concert that I went to not too long ago and the impact it had on me.

Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World of Tres World Tour

To help celebrate the launch of Kingdom Hearts III earlier in the year, the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra concert series went on tour all over the world with a brand-new program—Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World of Tres. Luckily one of the stops was here in Toronto and I had the esteemed pleasure of attending.

The orchestra and choir were composed of more than 100 musicians who put on a stunning performance. The live orchestra included woodwinds, brass, piano, percussion and other instruments. The concert started with spectacular renditions of iconic music from the Kingdom Hearts franchise. To add even more impact, behind the orchestra and choir was a large screen. It showed gameplay footage in perfect harmony with the music.

However, the highlight of the concert was when the orchestra played music from Kingdom Hearts III. They went chapter by chapter through out the game. You could hear many people in the audience humming along, and were cheering and clapping at the end of every piece. Not only did several of the songs send chills down my spine but they also brought back fond memories and times when I was playing the game. It’s like the moments were frozen in time and by listening to the music I could replay them as many times as I wanted.

  7. Rock and Roll racing for SNES if we are talking my childhood. It was the best because it had the amazing song Born To Be Wild on while racing

  12. While there are some masterful soundtracks to video games, Super Mario has to be my favourite. One simply can’t avoid a smile when the theme begins to play!

  13. Zelda: The Ocarina of Time – Classic songs that are equally melodic and fit extremely well with the various environments! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how beautiful the songs are performed by symphonies worldwide. Absolutely the best soundtrack of any video game!!!

  15. I would have to say Crono Cross and Resident Evil. The music set the mood so perfectly that you forgot everything else.

  17. Nier: Automata had the best soundtrack for a videogame I’ve ever heard. You can feel the intensity and every emotion that is being portrayed through the masterpieces of music throughout your playthrough of the game. The music is packed with do much emotion and just listening to it by itself always gives me goosebumps.

  19. I would have to say resident evil has the best sound track as it really set the mood for the game.

  20. Fez has the best video game soundtrack, Disasterpiece (the artist) has gone on to other great things but this may be his best

  24. Borderlands because every time I hear Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked it makes me want to play the game.

  26. Halo 3 hands down ! Theres not one of us here you tried singing the intro in the shower atleast once !

  28. Fallout: New Vegas. The music helps set the tone so well in this game and creates a rich background.

  30. I think the Silent Hill games have the best soundtracks. I like how the music alternates between both light and dark and It adds to the creepy atmosphere while playing.

  31. Skyrim has the best soundtrack. Its epic and atmospheric music allows me to truly immerse in the game. So much so that when its iconic tracks play at the start of a dragon fight, my heart races before I even see the dragon!

  33. Best soundtrack is Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2. Nothing gets you fired up like Guerilla Radio and Blood Brothers as you’re racing the clock.

  43. I like the Super Mario soundtrack- it is happy and upbeat and reminds me of playing Mario when I was young and then my nieces and nephews playing it!

  44. super Mario for me as I feel like a kid again every time I hear.. im hearing it in my head right now. 🙂 im trying to win this for my grandson though. hes the big gamer of the family and I would be the best grandma in the whole world 🙂
