Earlier this month we gave away some of the top laptops of the year. Now we are giving away two of the top televisions. Learn about the new Samsung TVs, then enter for a chance to win.

Why you should be looking at Samsung TVs in 2023

Have you looked at the range of TVs on display at a Best Buy store these days? I have. Impressive. Almost all of them are LED TVs, though there are a range of types of LED TVs. In the store your eyes will first be drawn to the stunning Samsung Frame TVs. We gave one of these away earlier this year on the blog. Then you’ll look at some of the other types of LEDs and, if you are like most people, you’ll be confused by the terms: OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED. All three are great. All three do some things better than other things. For example, OLEDs have the best blacks thanks to individual self-lighting pixels. QLED has the best brightness (great for bright rooms) thanks to the backlighting. Neo QLEDs are the best combination thanks to their arrays of mini-LED backlighting. Samsung QLED and Neo QLEDs have other advantages too including lower costs.

Why do you want a new TV this fall

Each year, the fall season seems to usher in not just pumpkin spice lattes and sweater weather, but also a surge in people bringing home new TV sets. Here are the top two reasons why:

1. New models and clearance sales

Television manufacturers often release new models in the spring and summer so by fall, these new releases have had time to be reviewed so you know which ones to buy. This not only help you make more informed decisions but also puts pressure on retailers to clear out older inventory to make room for the next generation of models. So whether you are looking for the best new TVs or last year’s models at significant savings, this is the best time of year.

2. Ready for holiday entertainment and sports events

The fall season is a precursor to major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, all of which are synonymous with family gatherings and home entertainment. People anticipate needing a better or bigger TV to host movie marathons, special broadcasts, and, of course, holiday specials. Additionally, fall is a significant season for sports with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons bringing excitement into our homes. The lure of watching big games and key matchups on a shiny new screen can be hard to resist.

Fall is a perfect storm of incentives; it’s the season not just for falling leaves but also for finding the perfect new TV for your home on television sets. And it’s the perfect time for us to have a contest giving two of the newest and best TVs away.

  3. In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the QN90C, tell us how many hours of TV get watched in your home, and one thing that you learned about this television from Shelly’s review.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly draw two winners. One will receive the Samsung QN90C TV that Shelly reviewed and the other will receive the Samsung Q70C TV that Shelly reviewed.

This contest runs from Sept 15th to Oct 1st.

  2. I would like a new TV this fall because my TV doesn’t have any smart features and it lags at times. The two shows are I am most looking forward to watching if I win this contest are The Changeling and The Walking Dead.

  5. My old television is not a screen resolution and image quality have improved drastically over the past several years. Older televisions may not allow you to take advantage of shows and movies that are available in HD or 4K quality.
    A new smart TV would be awesome to own! We would be watching Amazing Race and Outlander my favorite shows

  7. I’d love a new TV for the advanced smart features and better picture quality which my current TV does not have. A couple of shows I’m looking forward to this fall are Lupin and Annika.

  19. I’m actually looking to get a new TV. The TV I have at this time is 17 to 18 years old and not compatible with today’s tech. I’m interested as well that with wi-fi I can stream on a Smart TV. I only have basic channels and it would be nice to view programs that others comment about during lunch time, so I can feel like part of the group. I like to watch Young and The Restless once I get home from work and I would like to see Castle Rock as well as several other shows based off of Stephen King books.

  21. I’d like a new tv cause we have a tv in the house that’s not a smart tv so an upgrade would be nice. I’d also like a new tv cause that same tv has to be plugged into a sound system cause the sound went on it years ago. It’s an old HD LCD so it’s pretty old now, over 15 years old. The picture is still great though surprisingly! If those aren’t reasons enough, having a t.v. in my room would be pretty nice! The two tv shows I’d watch? Does hockey count? No?
    Actual tv shows I’d watch are The Great Canadian Baking Show, and The Kelly Clarkson Show. I’m not really into scripted stuff as much, as you can see!

  35. NFL season and the holiday video game releases are the perfect time to upgrade a TV for better motion clarity and colour vibrancy

    • Our old smart TV (Samsung btw) no longer supports many TV apps, this is one big reason for a new TV. Also the dogs ball put a dent in the middle of the TV which I see anytime there is a bit of black light on the tv.
      Can’t wait to watch Succession season 4 on crave and White House Plumbers on Netflix.

  37. I would looooove a new TV this fall. We’ve just moved, and we have so much more space now for our entertainment. Our current TV is very small and old (it won’t update anymore). A new smart TV would be awesome! We would be watching Amazing Race and Outlander. Woohoo!

  38. Our basement TV is pretty old and could use a newer upgrade. I love watching most sports, and I can only imagine how crips a footy pitch would look on this tv. Two shows that we are behind on watching that have their newer seasons recently released are “Flag Means Death” and “Loki”.

  43. I would like a new TV! My current one only displays up to 1080p – it’s also not the best in terms of smart features.

  44. I would love a new tv – I’m currently on leave and could use an upgrade to the living room as ours is small and yearsss old. It would also double as a nice ‘gift’ to my husband for him to play games.
    It would be great to cheer on the Canucks on a new TV and watch the upcoming season of The Amazing Race US.

  50. My number one reason for getting a new TV this fall is to upgrade to a smart TV to be able to sync with other devices. Second reason is a new smart TV instead of my dumb TV would be to able support screen mirroring feature.
    My two favorite two shows this fall are Family Feud Canada and the Still Standing, both fun to watch Canadian productions.
