The Polysleep Mattress Review

When a Polysleep mattress shows up at your door, compressed and snugly wrapped up in a tall, thin box, you may have immediate expectations as to how that mattress would feel when you sleep on it. The logic would be that if it can compress like that, it can’t be as comfortable as some of the mattresses you’ve tested in the store.

The striking purple and white foam mattress is delivered in eco-friendly packaging straight to your door, and when you unroll it, it’s immediately ready to sleep on. And what a sleep it is; I’ve never slept on a mattress this comfortable before. It’s supportive, yet so soft it’s like floating on a cloud. If I had to use a word to describe it, I’d say it was squishy.

I brought home the Polysleep mattress for my daughter, but I’m strongly considering getting one for myself. Life’s too short to sleep on a mattress that doesn’t feel like floating on a cloud, and did I mention Polysleep has pillows to go along with the mattress?

From packaging to delivery and what could be the best sleep you’ve ever had, here’s what it’s like when you choose a Polysleep mattress.

Polysleep is a Canadian company

Polysleep boxDon’t you love it when you can buy Canadian? Polysleep is a Canadian company based in Montreal. They’ve been around for three years, and that’s been long enough to establish the company as an eco-friendly brand that makes seriously comfortable mattresses, pillows, and crib mattresses.

Everything that’s put into the Polysleep mattress is made in Canada, and not an ounce of foam is wasted when making the mattress. Anything that’s leftover from stuffing the mattresses goes straight into the pillows.

The difference is in the delivery

Polysleep’s dedication to environmentally friendly practices is evident from the moment your mattress is delivered. It comes wrapped up in a box that seems impossibly small for how big the mattress is when you open it up. The box itself is compostable, but you might want to let your kids play in it for a while before it ends up in the compost pile. There’s no tape on the box either. Polysleep uses water-based glue so everything can be recycled.

The other thing to note is that there’s very little ink on the box, and there are no included tools or excess instructions required to cut the mattress out of the packaging. Simple scissors, something we all own, is enough to unroll this comfortable mattress.

Unboxing the Polysleep mattress

Polysleep wrappingThe Polysleep mattress isn’t that heavy. I’m not sure what the exact weight of the box is, but my new mattress is a double/full and I had no issues pulling it inside on my own. Once I brought it into my daughter’s room I pulled it out of the box, laid the rolled-up mattress on the bed, and cut the top of the packaging as instructed.

It didn’t pop out of the plastic all at once; I had to pull it a bit to get it to come out, but once it did, it began to unroll quickly. We placed it right on the wood slats of her bed frame. She doesn’t have a box spring as her last mattress was very high and her bed frame is quite low.

There’s no waiting period for the Polysleep mattress to break-in. It’s unbelievably comfortable from the minute it unrolls. I was the first to lie down on it and I was shocked at how cushy it feels. While you know it is foam, it also feels supported in a way that I’ve never felt with a foam mattress. You can roll from side to side and it doesn’t compress, and you can even sit on the side of the mattress and it won’t sink down.

My daughter had a thick mattress cover and a featherbed on top of her other mattress, just for extra comfort. With the Polysleep mattress, she didn’t need either. Because the mattress isn’t as thick as her other mattress, I’ll probably use a box spring for height, but it’s not needed for comfort.

What’s it like to sleep on the Polysleep mattress?

Polysleep mattress

I made sure my daughter slept on the mattress for at least two weeks before we formed a concrete opinion on it. I’ve gone in there and had a nap or two, just to test it out myself. Yes, that was hard work, but I was happy to put myself out (literally) for the purposes of this test.

Straight out of the box, the Polysleep mattress is one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve ever slept on, and my daughter agrees. I like soft mattresses, and this one is so soft you feel like you can snuggle into it. While you can tell it is a foam mattress, it’s also extremely supportive.

My daughter said she had an easier time falling asleep because she was able to snuggle under the blankets and enjoy how comfortable the mattress felt. She also has an issue with a pressure point on one of her legs, and when she’d sleep on that side she would wake up in pain. She hasn’t woke up with any discomfort from rolling onto that side since she started sleeping on the Polysleep mattress.

Why is this mattress so comfortable? Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s going on under the Polysleep cover.

Oh, that Polysleep foam

 foam layers

Polysleep foam is antimicrobial, so it provides you with a healthier sleep by preventing the growth of bacteria inside the mattress. It won’t stop you from having allergies, but it will prevent you from having more than what’s normal for you.

The Polysleep mattress uses memory hybrid foam, so when you roll around, the mattress will return to its normal state quickly. The foam also ensures zero motion transfer, so if you’re sleeping with your partner and you roll, he or she shouldn’t feel you roll. Polysleep says that the Polysleep mattress has medium firmness, but in comparison to other mattresses I’ve slept on, I feel like it’s on the softer side.

Spill-proof cover

Sleeping on Polysleep

The cover is very soft to the touch, and it has holes poked throughout the first of the four layers of foam. Those holes help regulate your temperature when you’re sleeping, and that’s because any heat that’s retained by the foam can dissipate.

The cover is also spill-proof, so if you’re drinking something on the bed and you spill, you have about 2 minutes to wipe it off before it sinks in. If you don’t get it before it sinks in, it’s no problem. The entire cover unzips and you can throw it in the washing machine.

Built-in frame

The Polysleep mattress is one of three Polysleep mattresses carried by Best Buy. It has a built-in foam support frame, integrated into the foam, that covers all four sides. That means you won’t sink when you roll toward the edge, and the support frame ensures there is uniform comfort on all sides.

100-night sleep trial

four wall construction

Polysleep offers you a 100-night sleep trial, and I think that’s really important. You can sleep on the Polysleep mattress for 100 nights and, if you decide it’s not for you, they will have it picked up for free and give you a full refund. The mattress also has a 10-year warranty.

Polysleep makes pillows and baby mattresses too

Polysleep baby mattress

I’ve been replacing my foam pillows every few months because I don’t like how flat they get after regular use. That’s not what happens with the Polysleep Pillow. It’s just as soft as the mattress, and it has four adjustable layers of premium foam, so the pillow won’t flatten as you sleep on it. There’s also a warranty on the pillows, which is pretty amazing.

The Polysleep baby mattress is coming soon to Best Buy. It’s made from healthy, organic materials and high-quality foam that’s CertiPUR-US certified. It’s firmer than the Polysleep mattress, and the open-cell foam will offer better support and comfort than memory foam. The foam also leads to better posture and provides better airflow to keep your baby warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm.

Should you buy a Polysleep mattress?

The Polysleep Mattress is cozy and comfortable, and I’m impressed at the lengths this Canadian company has gone to in order to be eco-friendly. I also like the 100-night guarantee if you don’t like the mattress once you bring it home, so there’s nothing to lose ordering it. It was so much easier having it sent to my door and just bringing the box in the house than it would be going into a store and trying to haul it home.

I love this mattress, and I think you will too. Take a look at Polysleep right now on Best Buy.
