All gamers are welcome

What kind of gamer are you? It’s been said that variety is the spice of life and there are many kinds of PC gamer. Some people stick exclusively to simple PC games that work on any machine; others prefer highly demanding PC games they play on custom built water-cooled machines with the fastest Intel processor available. A recent study concluded that there are six distinct types of PC gamers:

  1. Alpha: Highly enthusiastic, cross-platform, social, influential, and competitive gamer; high knowledge of PC components especially as it affects gaming.
  2. Purist: PC-centric, preferring stationary, immersive gaming; likely to customize PC hardware.
  3. Enthusiast: passionate about the latest gaming trend, loves PC Gaming but also mobile/smartphone gaming; moderate hardware knowledge
  4. Pragmatist: hobbyist preferring stationary/solitary gaming; knowledgeable about hardware but pragmatic about which computer works for their needs
  5. On-the-go: gaming on the go is most important; satisfied with easy to use PC products
  6. Casual: gaming is a quick escape and usually a stationary activity; not very knowledgeable about PC hardware

Think about where you fit into this framework, and what kind of games you most like to play.

    Alienware Aurora Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080)

my pc is dying and with this covid-19 i am stuck waiting a few extra months to replace my setup as i am out of work and funds will be use for supplies and bills.

  2. Am an Enthusiast. My dream laptop is
    ASUS Zephyrus S Thin 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2060)

  3. Purist: HP Omen Obelisk Gaming PC (Intel Core i9-9900K/512GB SSD/2TB HDD/32GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080Ti) – Eng

  4. im a casual gamer, i’d be a on-the go but i dont have the right pc
    ASUS Zephyrus S Thin 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2060)

  5. I would be an on-the-go gamer cause I love playing Minecraft on mobile.

I would love the ASUS Zephyrus S.

  6. I’m definitely one of the “On the go” gamers, with a side of “Casual” gamer in the mix. I have an Asus Strix GL753VE for almost three years now and it has been good to me. Built a dock into my desk so when I am home it can cradle there, into my comfy gamer station. I work out of town plus do a lot of travelling though, so it needs to be ready to pack up and go. It’s nice to have a powerful enough machine to be a blast, but not break the bank.

I’ve been looking at getting a newer Asus, as they have been easily as reliable as the many Lenovo I have also had. (Most of them I have purchased from Best Buy) The ROG series has been a favourite of mine since they develop and engineer features that most laptop users don’t get compared to custom desktops.

The (Model Number: G731GW-DB74 Web Code: 13620828) Has been on my watch list for some time. More than enough power to be competitive for a long time and a price that is manageable to most people.

  7. Purist here, built alot of desktops during my time, tinker with laptop hardware still.

    ASUS ROG Strix III G 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GTX 1660Ti

would by right up my alley

  8. Hi, I would definitely say that I’m pragmatist.

I am knowledgeable in computer specs just enough to know what best fits my needs. I am that type of person that would have a beefed out Desktop for stuff like gaming, and has a mediocre laptop that’s suitable to do general work anywhere XD. Gaming on the go just never appealed to me when you could have more immersive and comfortable sessions at a dedicated station compared to a mobile one.

My dream machine is Alienware Aurora Gaming PC – White (Intel Core i7 9700/1TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2080). It’s pretty beefed out and it looks super cool . Always been a fan of Dell/Alienware products.

  9. I am most certainly a casual gamer. I got started by jumping into the gaming action when my husband would leave his spot to get a snack or something. ;p

Given that I don’t know much about the hardware side of thing, I believe the ASUS Zephyrus S Thin Gaming Laptop would suit my needs perfectly especially as a casual gamer.

  10. Casual

    ASUS ROG 17.3″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070/Win 10)

  11. I’m definitely a enthusiast gamer.
I like the portability of a laptop so I’d go with the Asus Zephyrus S Thin 15.6″ Gaming Laptop.

  12. I’m an Alpha gamer play on PS4 and PC I like to win and having the right hardware makes that easier. I am looking into buying an Oculus but don’t have the PC for it yet so a dream PC for that would be the Acer Gaming PC (Intel Ci7-9700K/1TB HDD/256GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2080). As far as gaming laptops I like the Acer Zephyrus.

  13. Enthusiast for sure. I have every kind of gaming console/device except for a PC. I want this. Badly.

  14. I’m pragmatic and love hardware. I travel around a lot so my dream machine would be Asus zephyrus gx501.

  15. Hi my name is Rory and I am a purist. I got a laptop in grade 8 to get me through highschool. It was just a regular laptop. The specs of were less than adequate for gaming but for 5 years I played 3000 hours of Dayz. On the lowest settings (also editing configs to go even lower) I achieved zero to maybe 30fps maximum. I met lots of people and I enjoyed myself even though the game looked like play-doh. I also logged 1500 hours in CSGO with 20-40fps (yes I know, a potato can run CSGO) and got to rank Master Guardian Elite. There were other games I played lots with barely playable conditions but I never lost my love for gaming. I am going to be going to college next year for programming and a laptop with good specs would help me alot as well. The Zephyrus S thin laptop would be ideal for someone like me because I could game at home, and it would be light and portable to bring to class.

Thank you so much to anyone who reads my short little gaming history
    -Rory M.

    • Alpha. I love having the best and newest there is. I now have a son and I’m hoping that he’ll be like me too. I love building computers.

  16. I am probably closest to a pragmatist. Though pragmatist, since the contest is asking for the laptop of my dreams … I’ll have to go with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Ultra Slim 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/1TB SSD/RTX 2080). Wouldn’t that be something.

  17. I’d fall into the purist category. I enjoy complex pc gaming, but mostly into rpgs and open world stories.

I’d love that Asus Zephyrus laptop… so sexy!

  18. I’m a casual gamer. The ASUS Zephyrus S Thin 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2060 would be a cool machine for me.

    • Definitely an alpha

Been building computers for over 22 years back in the days of Pentium 2’s. The Zephyrus looks like a decent rig for its size. Packs quite a bit into such a small form factor.

    • I am definitely a pragmatist. But I need to be on the go as well. ASUS ROG Zephyrus S Ultra Slim 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/1TB SSD/RTX 2080) would be my ideal gaming setup.

  19. Used to be an Alpha, but more a Purist these days. Dream machine?

    MXG Platinum Gaming Computer (Intel Core i7-9700k/ 500GB SSD + 4TB HDD/ 32GB RAM/ Nvidia RTX 2080/ Win 10 Pro)

  20. I’m definitely an alpha. I live tinkering with my computer to get the best results.

My current dream machine from Bestbuy.ca is the Acer Predator Orion 3000 Gaming PC (Ci7-9700/2TB HDD/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070). It’s more than powerful enough to handle all the most demanding games and it can handle my video-editing and other hobbies.

  21. Enthusiast, and my preferred gaming method is a desktop but I’d like to have a laptop for when I travel!

    My choice would be:

    ASUS Zephyrus S Thin 15.6″ Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2060)

  22. I am an alpha gamer and I dream of having the ASUS Zephyrus S 15.6″ Intel i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/NVIDIA RTX 2060. I already have a top of the line spec PC and I need an upgrade to my current laptop

  23. I am an alpha gamer, I will really love to win the Alienware m15 15.6″ Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/GTX 1660 Ti) I will really love it, please pick me cause I love best buy.

  24. More of an enthusiast, I build my own desktop pcs, but I always was on a restricted budget, so I’ve never built a real gaming machine… The Alienware m15 seems to be a nicely bundled package for me…

  25. On The Go is me, was a purist but family and work have forced a reality and switch of gaming. More a 4x type as well as the turn based RPG. Alienware m15 is actually what I have been looking at but it’s not in this year’s budget. Soon though

  26. I’d say im a Purist.

The HP Omen Obelisk Gaming PC would definitely be nice to have, not to mention a big upgrade.

  27. Purist since early 90’s
Dream laptop: Alienware Area51 gaming laptop or new Alienware Aurora gaming PC

  28. I am a pragmatist, I love gaming and know quite a bit about the hardware on computers because IT support it is my field of work. That said The Zephyrus is truly a beast of a PC and would respond to both my gaming and workstation needs for photo and video editing.

  29. I am an alpha player, and I have a great knowledge on computer specs. And will appreciate it if I win.
    My name is francis nnadiekwe

  30. Purist. My dream laptop would be the Alienware m17 17.3″ Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i7-9750H/512GB SSD/16GB RAM/RTX 2070). While they may not be the best bang for the buck, I like the new aesthetic of the Alienware laptops and I always wanted an Alienware when I was a kid, so a touch of nostalgia as well.

  31. Hi I’m definitely an Enthusiast since I play pretty much any game I can with my friends to have fun.

My dream machine is the ASUS Zephyrus S thin 15.6”. It would happily bring my FPS over 30.

  32. Casual gamer on desktop, slowly upgrading my pc. Would really like to get VR ready at some point. I like racing, flying and fps games and also vintage arcade and console games
