Remote controlled planes and helicopters have been around for many years but they never caused the frenzy that we have seen with drones. They have invaded our psyche and become a part of our culture. This is the year that drones have emerged as a cultural phenomenon. I am currently reading Dickens’ Bleak House, an amazing story that includes many references to 19th century culture. For example, on page 344 Dickens includes in his descriptions of the Smallweed family, a family that is basically born adult, presumably skipping childhood and childish things, numerous childish games and toys that were popular in his day:

“… her twin brother couldn’t wind up a top for his life. He knows no more of Jack the Giant Killer or of Sinbad the Sailor than he knows of the people in the stars. He could as soon play at leap-frog or at cricket as change into a cricket or a frog himself.”

  6. Wow, amazing features, but my favorite feature of the drones listed is the 25 minutes of flight time per charge available on the DJI Phantom3.

  17. I really like the DJI Mavic since it allows me to throw it into a back pack and carry it along with other gear because it’s so lightweight with the ability to fold up. Very helpful! The obstacle avoidance helps out alot because I would go out with the drone alone to record so it does not need an operator. Also I hear there is a VR headset that is optional, I would love to have full control and vision while operating the drone myself.

    All in all I think the DJI Mavic is the best drone created yet!

  22. I have never owned a Drone but from what I have seen they all sound amazing and I would love to get some pictures/video’s of our cabin from the air. I think I would like to get the Phantom 4 4K, it sounds amazing

  26. I LOVE that one can stream video to one’s phone with the drone! My kids (and I…can’t lie) would love to use this at the cottage to capture footage of areas that we normally can’t get to by foot. Amazing!

  34. My favorite feature is the ability to fold of the DJI MAVICI drone.
    This really comes in handy for those with smaller cars.

  36. The obstacle avoidance sensing system would be a plus for sure. Don’t want to be hitting birds or overhead wires.

  41. The flight time , No- Fly zone feature and the auto pilot of the DJI Phantom 3 makes this a wonderful machine. The intelligent camera makes this a great Drone camera with a wide range of applications. Professionals- Such as real estate agents, Events, Athletes, Photographers, Automotive dealers… practically limitless application.
