An Oculus Quest 2 is real entertainment like you’ve never experienced before. Whether it’s watching a movie, playing a game, or exploring a new travel destination, you will not believe how close you get to being part of the action. This is definitely one of the hottest entertainment/gaming devices of the year, and we are very happy to be able to offer two as prizes in this contest.
Oculus Quest 2 is virtual reality with no strings attached
Finally VR has become what we all thought it was to begin with. You see, VR promised to allow us to feel like we are in a different place or time. Some do this better than others, and some, like the original Oculus, have been quite amazing. However, it’s hard to totally immerse yourself in a game or movie when an attached cable keeps tugging you back to the real world. That’s one of the immediate advantages of the Oculus Quest 2: with no tether, no attached cable, you quickly lose yourself—the virtual environment essentially becomes the real world for you!
We sent the prizes that we are giving away in this contest to our writers for an honest review. Read what Dave said about the new Oculus Quest 2 and you’ll understand why this is a big step forward for virtual reality.

I love sport games like Walkaround Mini Golf, and Eleven table tennis, and these are just so much fun! It’s easy to get very immersed and forget you’re still in your living room. I’m not a big gamer, but with COVID and a long cold winter ahead, I wanted something new the family could use for entertainment. What could be improved? 1. It’s not really like owning a game console. You can’t link multiple accounts to a single headset, so it’s not great to share a single headset within a family. If someone starts playing a long game, it’s basically theirs until they finish, then you’d have to somehow erase their progress before someone else could play it (hopefully that’s possible). Also, since it can be a bit cumbersome to resize the head straps for the next player, and possibly insert the eyeglasses spacer, it doesn’t lend itself well to games where you and your family members take turns. As a result, there really aren’t any games setup to work that way. Multiplayer games are meant for multiple players who each have their own headset to play simultaneously. You can’t easily, for example, all take turns playing bowling together. 2. The standard head strap can get a bit uncomfortable after a while, and it’s not really easy to readjust between family members. If you are planning on sharing the Quest 2 between family members, invest in one of the elite head straps Oculus offers. 3. It was really hard to figure out how to load my own 360 videos and images onto the Quest 2. I eventually figured out they have to be copied to the Oculus/Screenshots and Oculus/Videoshots folders on the Quest 2, then use the Oculus TV app to view them. What options should you buy? 1. Using the Oculus Link with the Quest 2 to view Rift content works really well. Being able to run Google Earth VR is, to me, worth the price of the Oculus Link cable. 2. Invest in one of the Elite straps. You will want more comfort and they make it easier for a family to share a single Quest 2. If you’re uncertain of trying VR, this is a great headset to start with! I really enjoy it and look forward to many more experiences in it.
