Hey Nintendo fans! I know many of us are getting super excited about the upcoming launch of Splatoon, the new third-person shooter game featuring action-packed ink wars, but did you know that Nintendo is also preparing a special Wii U Splatoon Deluxe console just for the occasion?
On May 29, you can get your hands on this great new Wii U Deluxe bundle (seen there to the right), here’s what it includes:
- Wii U Deluxe Black Console (32GB)
- Wii U GamePad
- Free download of the game Splatoon
- Nintendo Land game pre-installed
- GamePad Stylus
- Sensor Bar
- Wii U GamePad Stand & Cradle
- Wii U Console Stand
- Cable accessories
That’s everything you need to jump headfirst into the incredibly fun Wii U gaming experience and get playing! The highlight of this bundle of course is the inclusion of Splatoon, a game Jon recently described as having “awesome online battles” and a single-player mode featuring “one of a kind unique stages.” I’m just as excited as he is to get my hands on this game, and for that reason, May 29 can’t come soon enough.
In a moment I’ll get into exactly why I think Splatoon is so awesome, but first consider this: since its launch on November 18, 2012, the Wii U has amassed what I would consider to be the best software line-up of any current-generation gaming console. Take a look at just some of the incredible games already released for this system:
Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
And that’s just a partial, curated list of the hits. Nintendo continues to prove, year-after-year, why it’s one of the best game makers in the world, and Splatoon is just one more example to add to the burgeoning list of incredible software experiences found only on Wii U.
In the last year, Nintendo has released quite a few game trailers of Splatoon showing off its fun, unique gameplay. You can watch some of these trailers on YouTube here and here. If you’ve got half an hour to spare though, I highly recommend you watch the below Nintendo Treehouse: Live with Splatoon video, where three members from the Treehouse walk you through the various modes of Splatoon in-depth. This is a brand new franchise for Nintendo, and this video gives you a great idea of what to expect (and how much fun you’ll soon be having!) Take a look here:
Looks so entertaining, right! Right out of the box you’ve got Turf War, a 4-vs-4 online battle mode where the objective is to cover more surface area with ink than your rival team. There’s also a full single-player mode called Octo Valley that pits you against the evil Octarian army who has captured the Inkling’s sacred Great Zapfish (the source of their power). Finally, there’s Battle Dojo, a local head to head competition to see who can pop the most balloons with your ink splatter guns.
There’s so much to look forward to in Splatoon, and I definitely encourage you to read our recent article on the game to learn more.
If you’ve yet to pick up a Wii U console, the special Wii U Splatoon Deluxe console is the perfect entry point. This is a gaming console the whole family can enjoy, and as I mentioned above, there are so many great games already available. Why wait, pre-order your Wii U Splatoon Deluxe console today!
