Segway is launching its latest scooter with the E3, a more entry-level model that is now available for pre-order exclusively through Best Buy Canada. It retains the portability and lightweight design consistent with scooters in this range, though also durable enough to keep on rolling for longer stretches.
It’s not super light at 36 pounds, but its sturdy frame can handle just about anyone who wants to ride on it (up to 264 pounds). The aerospace-grade magnesium alloy frame is lighter than other metals would be in the same form factor. It also folds to make it easier to carry wherever necessary.
What to expect from the Segway E3

The Segway E3 comes with a certain degree of power. It can speed up to 25 km/h and is powerful enough to climb uphill (to a point) to keep you moving. An 800W peak power and dual elastomer suspension system help keep it a smoother ride, while IPX5 water resistance provides some protection from rain. Note there is no dust protection, so not as ideal for sandy or muddy conditions.
There are self-healing 10-inch tubeless tires to reduce the risk of a flat, plus a front drum brake and rear electronic braking system that delivers more effective stopping power. You also get enhanced turn indicators, ambient lighting, and a 4W front headlight for better visibility in low-light conditions.
The 276 Wh battery can go up to 45 km before it needs to recharge. There’s a 3-inch display for real-time ride data, plus Apple Find My compatibility for easy tracking through your iPhone or Apple device. It only comes in the one colour scheme, which is black and silver with red trim.
Coming soon to Best Buy
Segway positions the E3 as an ideal scooter for beginners or those seeking something a little more portable, suggesting it’s a good “last-mile” solution for commuters who need to carry it on public transit, up stairs, or into elevators. There are e-scooter laws in Canada that may vary by locality, regulating where you can ride and wearing protective gear. The E3 is subject to those.
The official release is set for July 18 but you can pre-order yours now at a special reduced price exclusively either at BestBuy.ca or in person at a Best Buy store. As of July 18, it will start selling at its full retail price.
