The world of Splatoon
Splatoon is a colourful third-person action shooter game that fans have been waiting for since it was first revealed during Nintendo’s E3 2014 Digital Event. The game is like nothing you have ever seen before from Nintendo. The gameplay is a mixture of fast-paced shooting, deep strategy, and over-the-top-action. Your goal: cover as much of the territory as possible with your ink-spewing weapons.

Making a mess has never been this much fun
In Splatoon, you play as “Inklings”, characters who can transform between human and squid form in a blink of the eye. Using your special ink gun, you can spray surfaces and walls with goopy ink—and then swim over the surface of ink and up the walls just as if it was water. Splatoon has multiple modes including a 4-on-4 online team match, and a full single-player mode that lets you explore the extraordinary world and characters of Splatoon. Using the Wii U GamePad, you can view the map of your surroundings, and instantly launch towards the location of your teammates.
Awesome online battles
Splatoon’s main online mode is called Turf War, and pits two teams of four against each other in head to head, action-filled battles. Your goal: you guessed it—cover as much of the world as you can with your team’s ink. As you do battle against your foes, your character progresses, powers up, and earns in-game money, allowing you to customize your Inkling with an astonishing variety of clothing. These customizations give your character advantages like swimming faster through ink, or decreasing the time needed to refill your ink arsenal.
Ranked Battle mode, another online multiplayer mode, keeps track of your online ranking in Splatoon. Splat Zones, a sub mode of Ranked Battle, has you trying to dominate a specific area of the map with your ink while keeping your enemies at bay. The more you play, the more opportunity you have to increase your ranking all the way up to A+.
A massive amount of weapons are available to purchase including rapid-fire ink guns, long-range ink rifles, and sub-weapons like ink sprinklers or bombs. In addition, you can fill your special gauge to let loose powerful special weapons for a limited time. Recently announced multi-player maps, Blackbelly Skatepark, Saltspray Rig, and Walleye Warehouse, will keep you entertained for hours.
Solo splatter
In single-player mode you get to explore the underground base of the Octarians, the game’s octopi adversaries. With one of a kind unique stages and items from multiplayer levels, your Inkling’s skills will truly be put to the test. Each of the single-player levels will teach your Inkling techniques that can be used for multiplayer modes. You will also discover many ingenious devices that are only found in the single-player mode.

More amiibo enabled games. Oh dear this is going to get expensive lol.
@oldschool Nintendo is on a roll with the amiibo. Many people including myself can’t help but collect them. Splatoon is sure to be one of the hottest games this summer. What are you most looking forward to in Splatoon?
@4scarrsI am very interested in seeing how nintendo handles the online multiplayer. The game itself reminds a little of deblob and has some aspects of super mario sunshine. It would be fun if nintendo adds some of their own characters into the mix like Brawl. It’s exciting to see a fun new franchise.
@oldschool Great observation! Yes this is a little bit like Super Mario Sunshine. Time will only tell if we will see additional characters, but I have a good feeling this will be a fantastic game. My whole family is excited to play this game. I can’t wait for Turf War, battling it out head to head against my opponents. The Splatoon series amiibo look fantastic! Nintendo has done a great job on this game, it’s sure to please everyone. I cant wait until May 29th, my pre-order is already secured. How about yours?
