Video gaming keeps growing. The major consoles have been out for a while now and game developers continue to bring out more action, stunning details, and incredible gameplay in the newest games this year. We expect some amazing announcements this June as we celebrate gaming with Play at Best Buy. Follow us as we cover the biggest announcements and preorders in the gaming industry. You can learn about all the gaming news in our articles and preorder many of the games soon after they are announced (or learn when preorders begin). And like every year in June, Play at Best Buy will include a huge gaming contest!
Innovation and nostalgia make gaming better every year
The gaming world is constantly adapting and building on its previous successes. Each new game is an iteration on the programming, animation, videography, and sound design that came before to bring an immersive blend of storytelling, interactive entertainment, and competition. This year we have already seen amazing games, including Star Wars: Jedi Survivor by Respawn and EA games. And Nintendo just released the highly anticipated: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Fans have been waiting for years to play this game and many are already calling it the game of the year.
Both of those titles bring a healthy dose of nostalgia with new game play features that stretch the limits of technology. We expect to see more of this trend in many of the gaming announcements over the rest of this year, especially from now to the end of June. Be on the lookout for several more reboots and sequels. Additionally, watch for potential future franchise games in the many indy titles vying for our attention.
Prizes are huge part of Play at Best Buy
The announcements started early this year with the PlayStation Showcase on May 24th. The buzz of gaming month is driven in a large part by gaming announcements, but also by the great deals that Best Buy will feature all month long. It’s just a great month to be a gamer! To top it off, Best Buy has the best gaming contest anywhere in Canada! Look at these amazing prize packages.

Which prize are you hoping to win? Read these details carefully for the best chance to win.
How to enter
Entering this contest will be fun and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below: tell us the name of a game you played in the past that you think should be redone soon. A valid entry must include all three of these parts: 1. what console you played it on; 2. what changes you suggest would make a new version exciting; and 3. on which console would you like to try this new version of the game.
- Social post: For two additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel sharing with your friends and followers that you are entering the Play at Best Buy blog contest. Let your friends know which prize package you are hoping to win and what new game you will play first if you do win; include the hashtag #PlayatBestBuyContest, so we can find your post, and include a picture from this contest page. Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
- Email a photo: If you visit any Best Buy store, take a picture with your smartphone of the gaming section in a store showing several of the games available that you love to play. Then in an email to bestbuyblog@bestbuycanada.ca with the subject line “Play at Best Buy Contest” tell us the location of the store (city, street) and attach the picture.
What you can win
At the end of the contest, we will randomly select six (6) winners from all eligible entries. These winners will be randomly assigned to the six prize packages shown above so each winner will get one of those six prize packages.
This contest runs from May 31st to June 30th.
Remember you can enter up to four times as mentioned above. Perhaps you’ve been trying to win a prize in a Best Buy Canada contest for many years and just have not been lucky. Hedge your bet by telling all of your friends and family that you really need their support for this amazing contest. They’ll likely be happy to enter this contest too. If they win, I’m sure they’ll share the prize with you.
Win a Play at Best Buy gaming prize
Good luck.
Wii sports resort needs to come to the switch with new sports, upgraded graphics and a more detailed island.
1. Street Fighter Alpha 3 remake or Alpha 4 on current gen (PS5, Xbox Series, PC)
2. Graphics like in Dragonball FighterZ and Guilty Gear -Strive-; classic World Tour mode from Alpha 3 with some tweaks
3. Would love to play this on PS5 and PC
I played ratchet and clank deadlock on the ps2 over and over. I feel like a remaster for the PS5 with the rift apart graphics would be so much fun. Could even bring some of the weapons over from different games.
RE5. Was a huge fan and played the hell out of this game back on the PS3. Would love to see more horror elements added to it like the RE2 and RE4 remakes and would definitely play this on PS5.
Would love to see an updated version of Def Jam: Fight for New York on PS2. Updated graphics, new storylines, but keep the fighting mechanics the same. Since it was on the PS2, probably for PS5
Tomba! should be remade.
I first played it on the original PlayStation, it one of the first games with 2.5D graphics. 4K textures and remastered audio, and commentary by the original developers would really make this new version exciting. This would make a perfect addition to the remastered games on PlayStation 5.
Going to go with Resident Evil 5. Played the hell out of that game back in the day.
1.) Played it on PS3
2.) Would like to see some horror elements incorporated into the game like the RE2 Remake since it was very action focused.
3.) Would like to play this on PS5
I played metal gear solid 2 sons of Liberty on my PS3 when the collection came out. I would love if they could remaster it on Xbox series x. Would be great if they could over haul the graphics and give it the same/similar treatment as MSG 5 or the remake of MGS3
1. Kingsfield on PS1
2. Would love to see this remade with modern visuals and see what FromSoftware could do with remaking a First-Person title. Mordernized and more exciting combat, updated level design. The works.
3. I would be happy if this was released on any modern platform. XSX, PS5, or PC.

@keung_isaac
The legend of Dragoon on the original PlayStation. Loved that game and it deserves a remake on the PS5. The graphics could use a huge boost but I’d air on the side of not changing the story like FF7 remake did.
I’ve posted on Twitter (https://twitter.com/SpectreRobin/status/1670801132879224835?s=20)!
Here’s a direct link to my Twitter as well: https://twitter.com/SpectreRobin
Little League Baseball (NES)
Would love to see this franchise remade with the same soul (tongue-in-cheek east-going baseball game) for all modern consoles. Additions: character creator, custom tournaments.
Bloodborne on PS4 was great but I know a upgrade/remaster on PS5, featuring 4k resolution and 60fps would go a long way!
Dino Crisis
PS1
Redone in similar fashion as Resident Evil 2/3/4 Remakes, all new graphics, over the shoulder gameplay, more intense atmosphere and more Dinos!
PlayStation, Xbox and PC
With the advancements in open world games, it would be the perfect time for the Infamous series to return. I loved playing those games on PS3; but on PS5? Infamous might be able to give the Spider-Man series a run for its money!
I would love to see a remake or remaster of Halo 3. I know it has been upscaled for MCC but having remastered graphics and CGI cutscenes would be excellent. I first played halo 3 on the Xbox 360, but I would love to see a full remaster like what was done for Halo 2 on the series x. Wishful thinking!
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
1. I played it first on PlayStation 2
2. A remaster should include modern controls and a third person mode!
3. PlayStation 5 first but could be enjoyed by everyone on Xbox and PC!
I loved playing Custom Robo on the GameCube. I’d love to see a new version of it, with improved graphics and customization options for appearance. Playing it on the Switch in first-person mode, using separated joycons could really be an immersive ecperience
The game that I would love a remake of, is the legendary JRPG Chrono Trigger!
1. I first played it as an emulator and then went on to play it on Mobile, Steam Deck, PC, etc (I have around 12 playthroughs!)
2. Modernizing a timeless classic is difficult especially when it’s from the SNES era, but games like FF7 Remake have been such a hit! The difference is, I would love it in a Ni No Kuni 1/2 style to retain Akira Toriyama’s original style when he created the character designs. This way you retain that nostalgic look and bring that visual fidelity to the modern age: imagine the Kingdom of Zeal in the visual styling of Ni No Kuni 2?
3. I would love to try this on any platform! The more the merrier so people have access. Personally, I would love a PC version of it.
Neversoft’s Spider-man on the PS1 deserves a full remake. Doesn’t even need to be changed that much, just make it HD and available. I’d buy it on everything but I think a game like that would be perfect for the switch
Would love for them to remake Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Originally played it on GameCube. Would love an option to play it couch co-op or even online with another player! RPGs are great on the Switch for portability so hopefully it gets a remaster one day.
Loved playing The legend of zelda- wind waker on the gamecube and recently went back and replayed it. Would love to see it remade for the nintendo switch!
SOCOM 2: Redeployment
1. PlayStation 2
2. Includes some new game modes like search and destroy
3. PlayStation 5 but would love to see Xbox version too with crossplay functionality.
Metal Gear Solid
1) PlayStation 1
2) remake the game with modern graphics and controls
3) PlayStation 5
1. Xenosaga trilogy on PS2
2. Better graphics, faster loading times
3. Would love to play this on PS5
I’d like to see a Toejam & Earl remake. Played it on Sega Genesis back in the day. I’d like to see updated beats, bigger worlds, more human threats, more secrets, more skills/upgrades. I’d definitely play it on Xbox S/X!
I would love to pay the new spiderman on PS5! The game has such great reviews
The first game I loved so much that I played it all the way through more than once was Knights of the Old Republic on the original Xbox. I’d love to see an updated openworld version for the Xbox series X with amazing graphics a la the more recent Assassin’s Creed games. And I’d love to win the Xbox bundle to update my console to the Series X!
I loved playing Goldeneye 007 on our N64 (Nintendo) as a kid.
Would love to see it brought back on the Xbox with updated graphics, otherwise, keep it old school how we loved it.
1. Mario Galaxy 2 on Wii
2. Would love to see new levels, and even better resolution
3. Switch
Dino crisis 2 on the psone.
I would love to see a remake on the ps5
Ff7 ps1
Redone with AI enhanced textures, and videos
Play it again on ps5.
Many good game suggestions already posted. The one game that I loved was Skies of Arcadia. On the Dreamcast system. System and games are difficult to get and I no longer have the game. Would love to play and have my kids play it.
I recently played Beyond Good and Evil on my gaming laptop and I want it be remade and playable on PS5. Features such as good camera movement could certainly help the game gain some new fans.
Bomberman Tournament for the Gameboy Advance. It was a neat little RPG, would love to see a modern take on this for the Nintendo Switch
Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 was great. Bringing it to Xbox Series X would be great with more powerful graphics and framerate could make this a super immersive remake and introduce the new gamers to an old classic.
The Medal of Honor on the PS1 was great
I would like to see a modern newer update in the Gradius series of sidescrolling shoot-em-ups for:
1) release on the Xbox Series X console
2) this newer update would offer parallax views and would switch in views between a horizontal shooter and behind the ship view.
3) I would play this on the Xbox Series X console if it got released.
Wii Sports on the Wii. Should be completely revamped in a way that revolutionizes interactive gaming much like this did in it’s time. I would play this on any console, but maybe most on the new XBox that I’m going to win 😛
Played Mario Kart on the Nintendo switch was fun, but would love to play this on a PS5, and see brighter colours, graphics to bring out the best in the characters
I think The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on GameCube is due for a remake/re-release on either the Nintendo Switch (or whatever Nintendo console comes next). The game had such a cool, spooky vibe and I think a graphical overhaul would be amazing for it.

One game that should be redone is SimCopter. I played the game on PC. The changes I would suggest to make a new version exciting, are fixing the huge number of bugs in the game, making the helicopter easier to fly and land, and better graphics. I would like to try a new version of the game on PlayStation or PC.

How about the Worms series of games. 2D turn based artillery games they could turn into first/third person battle royale. I would play it on PC but it could be done on any system.
Hi I used to play dragon age series of games I think they are overdue for a re release of that game series I would play it on Xbox series x
I recently playe Halo infinite on the xbox Series X. Great game! But if I am being honest I think they should get a re-do and release it again with more campaign content and improved graphics on unreal engine 5. Looking at the current version they its clear it could have used a bit more TLC and better game engine. And if they did do this, I would want to play it on the same powerhouse console- the xbox series X!
MVP Baseball 2005 on PlayStation 2. Best baseball game, Would like to see better graphics on PlayStation 5.
I loved playing twisted metal on PlayStation! I loved that game ! No changes necessary! Maybe more cool abilities
I played Mario Kart 8 on Nintendo Switch and would love to see new courses but also new team challenges. I would love to play this on a PS5
The Medal of Honor on the PS1 was super. It could be better with large maps, a map builder/editor would be a great addition. This would ad replay value. IT would be great on the Xbox Series X, PS5 and Windows PC.
I used to play Ridge Racer on the PSP. I’d like higher-res graphics that you’d expect on newer consoles plus better AI for the robot cars. I’d try a new version on a modern portable like a Steam Deck.
I used to play pokemon Emerald everyday. Can’t wait for Nintendo to finally decide to put pokemon on their switch emulators. New graphics upgrades would be amazing on the switch too.
Need for speed underground 2 on ps2 was the best game ever, with todays graphics and refresh rate, on ps5 it would be the best game to come out in the decade.
