A few years ago Google rocked my world by releasing the first version of Google Chromecast. I loved it! It turned any television into a smart TV, instantly … and for an amazingly low price. Since then, the whole chromecast ecosystem has become more extensive and useful. I use my original chromecast every day and I can’t wait to try the newest version, now with a great Google TV interface. Read on to learn more and to find out how to enter for a chance to win one.

Chromecast changed TV watching forever

Casting from my phone to my TV still feels magical. I’ve been doing it for several years using a Google Chromecast and it amazes me how easy, effortless, and predictable casting is. Few technologies promise so much from such a tiny device and deliver beyond expectation consistently as well as a Chromecast.

And the Chromecast experience keeps getting better. At first there were only a few things we could cast: Netflix was the most important! Then Prime became available and other apps. This summer I casted NHL games from the CBC sports app. The video and audio were fantastic.

Google improved on perfection with the new Chomecast with Google TV

I rarely use superlatives for the obvious reason that few things are “always” or “never” a certain way. For example, some people say it’s always raining in Vancouver … no, it’s not! However, I can say I am always happy with my Chromecast. I rely on it for almost all of my TV viewing. It’s technology at its best because it does what I expect it to do, every time.

That’s why I can’t wait to try the new Chromecast with Google TV. This new version has a remote that you can talk to via Google Assistant integration. The remote adds more funcationality to Chromecast since you won’t have to use your phone at all if don’t want to. Also new is an interface on the television that simplifies the process of finding series you are watching or new shows you want to watch.   2. I was so happy to get rid of my hdmi cable when I first got my chromecast. It made streaming so much easier. Now with a remote and all services in one place, it will really be easy.

  10. The remote. Nothing but the remote. I previously had a chromecast and switched to Firestick TV simply because it was such a pain to always have to pull my phone out to use it. The Firestick’s lack of Google services has always been another pain to deal with. Having a chromecast with remote is just the perfect reason to get the Firestick TV.

  26. What I love about Chromecast is it’s ease of use. Before, I would need to teach every single family member on how to use the remote with the gazillion buttons in it. Everytime they pressed something wrong, everything goes haywire. No more game night, no more TV dramas, and no more late night shows — unless I am there, or unless they call me and ask me to go there.

    Ever since we had chromecast, we made sure to have one in every TV — whatever TV it is, even the already smart ones, we just replace them.

    Now that Ive moved out of my parents house, I dont have a chromecast and miss it very much. I hope I win and get one from you guys!!!

  37. I bought the first gen Chromecast when it came out. I now have 2nd gen units which I love using. The photos show is especially enjoyable. I am very excited to see how the new Chromecast would work with my Plex DVR as I currently use a Roku. Unfortunately Chromecasts without a remote cannot skip ads in Plex nor FF or reverse content without buffering. I am very curious to see if the new Chromecast would work like the Roku with my Plex DVR considering it appears to have a much more polished interface.

  39. Google Chromecast takes the casting experience to another level. It’s sleek. Blends into my Google ecosystem so well. Never bought a Smart TV as Chromecast makes my TV smarter. Would love to try the new Chromecast.

  40. I really like the ease of use with chromecast it works with any phone. It can blend in google home system. I would love to cast YouTube, Netflix and Disney+ with it.

  41. The fact that I don’t need to have my phone on me in order to use it is a big plus. Having it’s own dedicated user interface to navigate apps such as Netflix or YouTube is more convenient than opening the apps on your phone then casting them to your Chromecast device.

    I can’t wait to stream Netflix in 4k, as well as play Stadia

  45. Legit the first thing I would do is probably cost some YouTube and then some Prime video and then Netflix and probably cast my Google photos Chromecast just makes life a million times easier

  47. The ability to stream YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, miror content from a phone or tablet, and play games on Stadia all in 4K. I would use it for gaming and content consumption with my friends and family.

  50. I’ve been a Chromecast fan since the start. I love how easy it is to use and cast from almost any app or page.
    I’m sure the first thing we stream when we get it is either Netflix or YouTube, but honestly I want to see the experience using the music apps Spotify, Tidal and especially Bandcamp.
