How does adding a monitor change how your work and play

What would you do with more screen real estate? My wife and I were discussing this yesterday as I was making notes for this article. As a teacher tasked with doing online instruction for the first time in her life, she had no trouble seeing the benefits of three monitors. She’d put Zoom on one, for her video interaction during her classes, put her Google Forms assignments and quizzes on another screen, and use the 3rd screen for Microsoft Teams or email depending on which class she had at the time. Rather than flipping from one application to another on the single screen she currently uses, she would have them all right in front making her work so much easier.

Dave correctly points out that we are chronic multi-taskers (as my wife’s situation above supports) and having extra real estate helps a lot!   2. I’m a video editor so this would be a dream setup, one screen for preview, another for media files and another for the multi-layered timeline…so much more efficient and pleasant to work with, just perfect!!!

  3. I’m thinking something streaming on one screen, ie CNN, Hot Ones, Marble1, etc, music on the second, and browsing in the center. And of course some wiiiiiiidescreen gaming.

  16. Being an amateur photographer, it would be really nice to have the real estate to put photos side by side full size to compare. Trying to look at two or three photos by shrinking them just doesn’t give a full comparison.

  34. Having multiple monitors would be such an extreme upgrade as my old NEC monitor is better suited as a boat anchor. Just increasing the screen size to 27″ for one screen would be great, but 3 x 27″ would be a dream come true. I could surf the ‘net, interact with friends on social media platforms and work on my photo and music collections all at one time — a multi taskers’ dream come true.

  37. A great combo of instructional youtube, making notes in a file and sharing my thoughts using email.

  39. I will use it to do my design stuff on 1st, Browsing on 2nd as constant search is needed to get ideas and references, Music on the last one to keep me motivated to work more and concentrate fully.

  50. For gaming I would use all monitors to play my favourite game franchise, Dragon age. While I’m working I’d use one for 3D modelling, one for reference pics/ photoehop and one for youtube videos!
