Growing up it was not always an easy task to buy the right gift for my dad. I never knew what to get him, so it usually ended up being some awful tie or cologne. I remember once, after getting hm some cheap after shave, he asked me if he smelled bad, because all we ever got him was “man perfume.” I tried harder after that. As I’ve gotten older and now have a family of my own, I’m finding it is not quite the same, because I’m a bit of a geek and fan of technology, so it’s easy to find something I’ll enjoy either at a comic book store or in the computer section at Best Buy. Every guy loves technology. So, if you’ve been struggling to find something for that man in your life, let me give you tips on buying computer-related gifts for him.

A monitor makes a great gift

Chances are your guy could really use a monitor upgrade. Even if they mainly use a laptop, they can still plug into a nice big screen to enhance work efficiency, or to enjoy games or movies on that bigger, more responsive and immersive screen. If your guy is a gamer, I’d suggest picking him up a real gaming monitor that has super fast response time and sharp vivid colours. It’ll make fragging friends and foes a literal blast! An ultrawide monitor is ideal for work, allowing you to have multiple applications and documents open on your screen simultaneously. No more clicking back and forth between windows. For the movie-watching guy, go for a 4K monitor or a nice curved monitor so he can really get sucked into the action.

Every guy needs a good computer headset

You can’t go wrong with a gift of a new headset. They can be useful in a variety of situations. If your guy works in a particularly noisy office, then some noise cancelling headphones are really going to be appreciated. He’ll be able to block out the chatter and focus on the task at hand, all while enjoying their favourite tunes. Avoiding unwanted sounds goes both ways, so your gamer guy absolutely needs a good gaming headset, so they can immerse themselves in the game and hear every footstep, and also so you and the rest of the family don’t have to hear every gunshot, explosion or NPC speech.

Webcams are great guy gifts

Not every guy has a webcam with their PC setup, but it is definitely something everyone can use. From video-chatting to friends and family with something like Skype, to making YouTube videos or streaming a gaming session on Twitch, it’s a sure bet your guy will get lots of use out of a good webcam.

A gaming mouse says you know your guy

For all the things your guy normally does on a computer, from surfing the web to working and watching movies, a normal mouse is pretty sufficient. But, if your dude is a gamer, then they absolutely need a gaming mouse. Why? Well, a high-end gaming mouse is going to be much more responsive than a normal mouse, and it is going to be way more customizable. It will have extra buttons, so your gamer guy can switch weapons, access inventories or activate special attacks more easily. Plus, they usually have cool lights.

Get your guy a mouse pad

Another easy computer-related gift for guys is a mouse pad. It is a simple and inexpensive gift that is always needed and useful. You can choose from a wide range of colours, themes or characters for the mouse pad, customizing it perfectly for your guy’s tastes. Show your guy that you know them well enough to give them a personalized place to rest their mouse hand. If you really care, you’d also get a mousepad that has some sort of wrist rest or support cusioning to reduce repetitive strain.

Those are just a few easy options for buying computer-related gifts for your guy. For more ideas, make sure you check out all the computer accessories available online at Best Buy.

  1. One day I want to pick up a stream deck like the one by elgato. When I eventually do that I’ll also want to get a good headset so I can try to talk about the enjoyment I am having with a game while I am playing it.
