The list of legendary DSLR cameras includes the 5D Mark IV, D750 and now the new Sony a7 III, a full-frame, mirrorless camera that’s the latest in the renowned Sony alpha lineup.
The Sony a7 III is designed to take on the best, starting with a 24.2MP image sensor. It shoots up to 10fps silently or with a mechanical shutter. 5-axis in-body image stabilization, 15-stop dynamic range, and 693 phase-detection AF points ensure every shot is perfect. And it shoots 4K HDR video.
This camera is also packed with the latest power-user features. These include a long-lasting Z battery with up to 710 shots per charge, Wi-Fi connectivity, dual media slots, a moisture and dust-resistant magnesium alloy body, high contrast OLED view finder, both USB-C and Micro USB, and a 3-inch tiltable LCD screen with touch control.
AN INCREDIBLE HYBRID AUTOFOCUS SYSTEM
The Sony a7III features a proprietary 4D FOCUS hybrid AF system that is unrivalled in competing full frame cameras. Combining advanced autofocus technology first introduced in the Sony alpha 9, and optimizing it for use in the new a7 III, results in a revolutionary mirrorless camera.
4D FOCUS means the Sony a7 III is able to track 693 phase-detection AF points, covering 93% of the image area. Once the a7 mark 3 locks in on a rapidly-moving subject like an animal or an athlete in action, you can count on it staying locked on for perfectly focused action shots. Sony’s acclaimed Eye AF eye tracking technology is also incorporated to ensure your portrait subjects always stay in focus, even in low light.
In addition, the a 7 III’s 5-axis in-body SteadyShot image stabilization eliminates five different types of commonly encountered camera shake, whether shooting stills or video.
SHOOT UP TO 10 FPS WITH SILENT OR MECHANICAL SHUTTER
Capture the entire moment perfectly, with the Sony a7 III. Whether you choose to go with a mechanical shutter like a DSLR, or to shoot silently, you can capture 24.2MP images at up to 10 fps with continuous auto focus and auto exposure. That’s up to 177 standard JPEG images or 40 uncompressed RAW images in a single burst. In addition, the a7 mark3 can shoot continuously at up to 8 fps in live-view mode, with the viewfinder or LCD display showing every step of the action with minimal lag.
The new Sony a7 III also bests the DSLR competition with professional quality, 4K HDR video. By using 2.4 times oversampling, the camera is able to produce 4K HDR video with exceptional detail and depth. It can also record Full HD video at 120 fps and 100 Mbps for incredible slow motion footage.
24.2MP EXMOR R CMOS IMAGE SENSOR, FRONT-END LSI AND BIONZ X PROCESSING
At the heart of the Sony a7 III is the new 24.2MP, back-illuminated, 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor. It’s paired with a front-end LSI to effectively double the readout speed of the image sensor. In addition, Sony’s advanced BIONZ X image processing engine delivers processing speed improved by 1.8 times compared to the previous generation a7 camera.
This represents a huge leap in image processing power that pays off with outstanding overall performance at all settings and in all shooting conditions. That includes the ability for the camera to shoot at faster speeds than ever, with an impressive ISO range of 100 to 51200 with 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivity settings. Noise reduction technology works in the background to ensure you can shoot even at high ISO settings with impressive results, free of noise or image deterioration.
