Clear Drop

You can never have too many small appliances. Even when there’s limited counter space in the kitchen, there’s always justification for grabbing a new air fryer, food processor (that was my investment for this year!) stand mixer, cocktail maker, or some other innovative product. At CES 2023, there are plenty on display, from new models in existing categories to some exciting new products that prove we have only just scratched the surface in terms of what small appliances can do.

Here are highlights of some of the most exciting small appliances on display at the show.

CookingPal Pronto 8-in-1 Pressure Cooker

CookingPal Pronto

Cooking Pal’s new Pronto 8-in-1 pressure cooker, which I covered earlier in a dedicated article, is a 6-quart multicooker that can pressure cook food, saute, slow cook, steam, ferment, sanitize, keep warm, and even weigh using the integrated scale. It even works with an optional air fryer attachment, similarly to the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid, which can air fry, roast, bake, and grill. What makes this a stand-out product, however, is that it connects to Cooking Pal’s Smart Kitchen Hub platform to provide digital assistance in creating healthier, tastier meals. It can work with other CookingPal Smart Kitchen Hub compatible devices, like the Multo 15-in-1 intelligent food processor. Access hundreds of recipes, too, along with a step-by-step guide for cooking them. Equipped with a 4.3-inch colour screen, jog dial, and two buttons, you can also control it using the CookingPal app.

LG Artcool Gallery Air Conditioner

You might not be thinking of air conditioning right now as we deal with the frigid Canadian winter. But soon enough, it’ll be summer again and you’ll be seeking out ways to keep cool and refreshed at home. The LG Artcool Gallery air conditioner has a 27-inch screen and can display personalized content to match the season. Use the LG ThinQ app to further personalize and remotely control the experience.

LG PuriCare Aero Furniture

LG PuriCare Aero furniture

We love technology that can do double, even triple duty, and the LG PuriCare Aero Furniture checks this box. It’s not only an air purifier but also a table, and a flat wireless charging surface. Turn it on from the easy-to-access control on the underside of the tabletop (or use the ThinQ app) and enjoy purified air plus mood lighting. Plop a TV remote, book, photo frame, or other item atop the table, making it a perfect side table. If you place a Qi-enabled smartphone, true wireless earbuds, or other wireless charging-enabled product down on the surface, it will also wirelessly charge. With lots of colours and designs to choose from (and special edition ones coming soon), these purifiers are bound to be a hit.

Roborock S8 Series Robot Vacuums

Roborock

Roborock is introducing several new products at CES 2023, including the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, Roborock S8+, and Roborock S8 which will be making up the flagship line. The S8 Pro Ultra comes with the new RockDock that allows for automatic mop washing, dust emptying, refilling, and self-cleaning. It also has a new warm air-drying feature to help prevent the growth of mold and odours on both the mop pad and the dock.

All models in the new S8 series feature Roborock’s strongest suction ever at 6,000Pa and come with a new dual rubber roller brush that the company says offers improved dirt pick-up while also resisting hair tangles. This makes them especially ideal for pet owners. The brush on the S8 Pro Ultra model automatically lifts up to 6mm when running in the mop-only mode and when the vacuum returns to the dock to prevent any cross-contamination. With the liftable brush, it’s also easy to mop up spills without damaging the vacuum.

The vacuums also feature the new VibraRise 2.0 Mopping System, whereby the mop automatically lifts when cleaning on carpets. When cleaning floors, it scrubs using sonic mopping technology at a frequency of 3,000 times per minute.

Additionally, the vacuums include the Reactive 3D Obstacle Avoidance System to identify various objects on its path and maneuver around them.

The robot vacuums are set to be available in the U.S. in April 2023.

Roborock Dyad Pro Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum

Also from Roborock is the Dyad Pro cordless wet/dry vacuum, which offers powerful 17,000Pa suction and can vacuum and wet mop at once, reaching as close as 1mm4 to the wall. It intelligent adapts cleaning power, water flow, and how much cleaning solution is dispensed, while it can also run an automatic clean cycle for its rollers using a bi-directional motion when docked. This is followed up by automatic self-drying to prevent odours and bacteria from building up. Set for availability in January 2023, Canadian release details are to come.

Clear Drop Soft Plastic Compactor and Clear Drop Organics Collector

Clear Drop

Southlake, TX-based Clear Drop is launching two new home pre-recycling small appliances at CES 2023: the Soft Plastic Compactor and Organics Collector.

The Clear Drop SPC (Soft Plastic Compactor) is a a patent-pending small appliance that can compact and seal soft plastics, including plastic bags, baggies, wrappers, and packaging, using the melting properties of the plastic itself. Once done, the “brick” of compacted soft plastic that is produced can be added to the recycling bin (where allowed by region) or dropped off at a recycling facility. It can then be disassembled by the grinding equipment at the facility and used in the regular plastic recycling process.

Also being introduced at CES 2023 is the Clear Drop Organics Collector (OC), which uses a patent-pending automatic process to compact and seal organics without releasing harmful substances. It can store organics for up to seven days without releasing foul odours. It uses very low power and removes 50% of humidity in stored organics.

EnviroKlenz EK Purify Air Purifier

Enviroklenz

Air purifiers have been selling like hotcakes, and along with the most popular and well-known brands are lesser-known ones as well, like Bonita Springs, FL-based EnviroKlenz. The company’s newest model is the EK Purify, a circular air purifier that can clean the air in an up to 1,000 square foot space. The unit combines patented EnviroKlenz technology with HEPA filtration to create the HEPAKlenz filter, which helps neutralize and remove small particulates, chemicals, viruses, and odours from the air. The spherical shape, says the company, helps to ensure maximized filtration throughout the entire room, from all angles. It offers four fan speeds with a noise level of 55dB on the highest setting. It also has customizable LED lights with four different colour shades and intensity to add ambiance to the space as well. When the filter needs replacing, a filter replacement indicator will light up red. Additionally, the unit ships with a remote that can be used for turning it on and off and controlling the lights or fan speed. The EnviroKlenz EK Purify air purifier will sell in the U.S. for US$649 once it’s officially available in Spring 2023.

Typhur Sous Vide Station And InstaProbe

Typhur sous vide

Typhur is showcasing some innovative small home appliances that are designed to bring the “home chef” experience to your kitchen. Two of the most notable ones is the Typhur Sous Vide Station, a smart sous vide machine that works with cooking classes and recipes from chefs around the world. This includes guidance from Michelin Star Chefs, all of which can be accessed right from the machine.

Meanwhile, the Typhur InstaProbe is a fast and accurate food thermometer. It uses a patented DCTi (Direct Contact Thermal Integration) process that allows for direct thermal conduction between the sensor and the target object, like a roast, turkey, pork loin, or other proteins. It can provide an accurate reading in .75 seconds, allowing you to confirm immediately if the cook is to the correct doneness or you need to let it cook a bit longer.

RCA FC104 Wi-Fi-Enabled Food Composter

RCA food composter

A theme this year is on helping the environment, and the RCA FC104 food composter is both convenient and high-tech. With a 3L tank, it can dry, grind, sterilize, and deodorize food waste, working in one of three modes: quick, standard, and fermentation. It runs quietly and automatically shuts off once the cover is open. Compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control, it is Wi-Fi connected so you can view progress remotely.

LG CordZero A9 Kompressor Steam Power Mop

LG is showcasing its first cordless stick vacuum cleaner that offers steam mopping as well. The CordZero A9 Kompressor comes with a tower docking station that stores, recharges, and automatically empties it. The Steam Power Mop nozzle is detachable: add it when you want wet and steam mopping, then remove for dry vacuuming. The mop pads maintain a temperature of about 60°C to effectively remove stains from hard flooring and tiles. The nozzle has dual sensors that prevent overheating along with an advanced automatic water supply system that keeps the pads wet throughout the mopping process. As a vacuum, meanwhile, it features Axial Turbo Cycline technology to remove dust and debris from floors and other surfaces via powerful suction.

The All-in-One Tower charging dock that comes with the vacuum has a replaceable dust bag and automatic dustbin-emptying system along with a display that shows real-time status updates. It can also store accessories and offers three alert notification melodies.

GE Profile Smart Mixer with Auto Sense

GE Profile smart mixer

The ultra-smart GE Profile stand mixer, which I covered earlier, is arguably the smartest, most innovative small appliance on the show floor. It includes features like a built-in smart scale to weigh ingredients as you add them, a timer with auto shut-off so you can multitask while getting the right mix time, and a unique system for attaching accessories. It also works with the SmartHQ app that offers more than a dozen guided recipes with step-by-step instructions. New recipes and features will continue to be added through over-the-air updates.
