I’ve owned quite a few toaster ovens. I’ve liked them, but due to the fact they only have one function, I’ve always ended up going back to a smaller toaster. When I was sent the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven to review and I tried out the AirFryer for the first time, I was completely hooked. This is more than a toaster oven; this is a compact second oven, and trust me when I say this is one small appliance that’s staying on my counter forever.
The Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven is an AirFryer, toaster, roaster, oven, and dehydrator, all in one. It is the single most versatile appliance I own, and when I proofed and baked a loaf of bread in it, I think I blew a few minds around here. Here’s a look at my experience with the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven.

Testing the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven
I found out pretty quickly that the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven makes great toast and bagels, but that’s not what I wanted to test out. From everything I read about it, I knew this compact appliance will work as a second oven, so my main goal was to bake bread in it.
Baking bread in the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven
I’ve been a heavy-duty bread and bun baker for over two years now, and it’s become something I do at least every other day. I started baking bread in an effort to replicate my grandma’s recipe, and it turned into a sort of hobby.
To test out the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven I used my standard bread/bun recipe. I usually take half the dough and make a loaf of bread and the other half for buns. I went through the process of making the dough and letting it rise for the set amount of time, then took the dough dedicated for bread, popped it in a standard size loaf pan, and put it in the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven to proof.
Having a proofing option on a toaster oven is amazing. My house is in the shade and my kitchen can be chilly, so getting buns to rise has always been a challenge. The Cuisinart AirFryer has more than enough room for my loaf pan, and I could watch the bread dough rise through the large viewing window. You can adjust the settings, but the preset for proofing is 90 degrees for 45 minutes.
That was more than enough time for my loaf to rise, and when the timer beeped I was ready to bake my loaf of bread. I took my loaf out, turned the toaster oven to 350 degrees just like I would in my large oven, and let it warm up for a minute. I tapped to turn on the high fan speed too.
My standard baking time is 30 minutes for bread, and I always rotate the pan halfway through. Baking in the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven is a bit different, but I was so impressed with how it turned out. Around the 9 minute mark, I could tell the bread was browning all over, but given the convection fan inside I didn’t rotate it. The hot air meant it was baking evenly without turning.
At the 21 minute mark I knew the loaf of bread was done, so it was finished 9 minutes earlier than my own oven. You can usually tell if you knock on the top of the loaf and it sounds hollow. I brushed it with butter, let it sit inside the warm toaster oven for another minute, and pulled it out. It was literally a perfect loaf of bread, and I couldn’t believe I baked it in a toaster oven.
Testing out the AirFryer on the Cuisinart Toaster Oven
I can’t even begin to detail the different dishes I’ve made with the AirFryer option on this toaster oven. We started with french fries for poutine, moved onto chicken strips, and even used the air fryer for farmer’s sausage and chicken breasts. It cooks fast, reaches high heat very quickly, and makes everything perfectly crispy.
There is a quick reference guide on the bottom of the appliance so you have an idea of how long to air fry different foods. There are also presets on the Air Fry menu. My recommendation is to tweak the temperature a bit when you’re first trying it out. I put in some fries at 400 degrees and it was a bit too hot for the number of fries I added. When I tried again I cut the temp to 375 degrees and reduced the cooking time by 5 minutes. The fries always come out perfectly now.
I also whipped up a batch of Sopapilla on Cinco de Mayo. A Mexican doughnut, you usually use oil to pan-fry thin strips of dough so they puff up. Rather than use oil, I used the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven. They puffed up perfectly, were golden brown, and everyone loved them.
Other functions on the Cuisinart AirFryer
The Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven is the already the most versatile appliance I own, and I haven’t even scratched the surface of what it can do. You can make a crispy crust pizza in it, and it will help with everything from proofing your pizza dough to air frying your finished pizza. You can even switch to broil when you want to brown the cheese.
You can also make a full roast chicken in it, and that comes in handy because it cooks faster, the skin is crispy and delicious, and it frees up your own oven for other dishes. I haven’t tried dehydrating yet, but when my fruit trees start producing this summer, you can bet I’ll be dehydrating all sorts of fruit.
Should you choose the Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven?
The Cuisinart AirFryer Toaster Oven is now my go-to appliance. It cooks quickly, evenly, and it cooks everything. I will be using it for bread and buns, crispy snacks, and anything and everything I would fry. Because it uses no oil, everything I make in the air fryer is healthier. The fact that it also makes our morning toast and bagels is just a bonus.
