Disney Infinity 3.0 follows in the footsteps of last year’s Infinity 2.0, introducing a new wing of the Disney family into the mix: Star Wars. This year, Luke, Leia and friends enter the Toy Box with new adventures, new items and a Disney Infinity-ized look.
The Star Wars Disney Infinity universe will be broken off into 3 different play sets as follows:
- Twilight of the Republic: In this playset, you play in an original storyline based on the Episodes I-III characters. You will be play as characters like Yoda, Anakin Skywalker and even Ahsoka Tano (who was introduced in the Clone Wars) to swing lightsabers in battles against Darth Maul. This playset will also be included with the Disney Infinity 3.0 Playset.
- Rise Against the Empire: This playset is based on the original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) and features Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia traveling and visiting planets like Hoth and Endor. You’ll even have the chance to fly the Millennium Falcon! Expect more information about this playset (and whom it comes with) in the coming months.
- A third playset will be out in the winter and is based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The playset’s name and included characters have not been confirmed yet.
You won’t be held to episodic-driven character play here either. Disney Interactive has confirmed that all of the Star Wars characters can be played on any of the playsets.
The addition of Star Wars to the series shouldn’t be too surprising, really. As one of the biggest acquisitions in Disney (and entertainment history,) it was only a matter of time before the Star Wars universe landed in the toy box.
If you crave more than Star Wars from the Disney Sci-Fi universe, there’s another big movie adaptation coming to play in Disney Infinity 3.0 too. Unfortunately, all of you Flight of the Navigator fans will have to wait, but Tron fans won’t! Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy will be playable characters and collectible figures, and you’ll be able to pick them both up right at release. Here’s a peek at what they’ll look like.
You’ll also see more Disney and Marvel additions to the Toy Box, and a new playset based on the upcoming Pixar Film Inside Out. All of you collectors should be pleased to know that you can finally add Mickey and Minnie Mouse to your collections and expand your Frozen and Disney Heroine collections with Olaf and Mulan, respectively.
Finally, be sure to keep your Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 characters closeby. The All New 3D Toy-Box will feature multiplayer games to let you bring your Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters together in perfect harmony at last.
The Disney Infinity 3.0 starter set is confirmed itself and will come with the Twilight of the Republic play set along with Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.
