I’m of the opinion that no one should truly 100% grow-up. I really think people ought to occasionally partake in youthful frivolities, like having candy for breakfast and jumping in mud puddles—and playing with toys and games. That keeps magic weaving its way through our lives, adding a spring to our steps and a sparkle to our eyes. Luckily, Best Buy has a huge selection of toys and games for everyone, so whether you’re one or 100 you can relive a bit of that childhood magic. What’s more, we’re running our annual toy contest! Read on and learn about the magical selection of toys at Best Buy, then enter the contest for a chance to win some for your family. Imagine the magic that your whole family will experience with a fantastic bundle of toys delivered to your home!
Sphero, Anki, and Oculus make learning magical
There is a huge range of STEM and robotics toys available these days, and the best part is, they’re so much fun to use that kids will enjoy learning.

Sphero creates toys like the BOLT robotic ball to teach kids coding through a block-based visual language. Using the Sphero Edu app, you can control the Bolt’s movement and speed, as well as the colour and brightness of the built-in LED lights. Light sensors, infrared sensors, and a magnetic compass provide it with data, so it can be programmed it to change direction if it meets an obstacle.
The Anki Cozmo and Vector robots are home assistants with personality. These diminutive robots are curious, interactive, and capable of learning. Designed with both an IQ and EQ, these robots are smart and endearing. They will become a part of your family as they help you out with weather reports and answering search queries, or play games like Quick Tap and Keep Away.
As a child, I used to dream of travelling to another universe. With virtual reality, that dream comes pretty darn close to true. Using 3D graphics and amazing optics, the Oculus Go headset can transport you to other dimensions. Oculus Go gives you access to over 1,000 virtual reality games, social apps, and 360-degree experiences. Always wanted to visit the moon or walk among dinosaurs? How about stepping into the pages of a comic? Or have you’ve always dreamed of fighting super villains. All of this is possible with the magic of Oculus virtual reality.
Zoom into adventure with ride on toys and race tracks

Maybe you were always a bit of thrill seeker, well, we have toys for that too. Best Buy has a huge selection of ride on cars that are sure to delight any little driver. Choose from authentic scale replicas of vehicles like Jeeps, BMWs, and Maseratis from brands like Best, Kool Karz, and Powerwheels. This sweet rides are each decked out with details like a horn, lights, and music. Most ride on toys are equipped with parental controls too, so you can rest easy as your child zooms about. And perhaps the best thing about ride on toys is they get your kids outside, away for tablets and TVs, enjoying the fresh air.
If you want to keep your racing indoors, Anki also makes the Overdrive, an intelligent battle racing system. Build your track and race solo, AI, or against friends as you control you car through the app. As you race you can unlock weapons and upgrades, and customize your car, plus the app is always being updated, so gameplay is always fresh. That’s the beauty of tech toys; the magic keeps evolving.
For the younger race car enthusiasts, there are Carrera GO!!! racing systems. Kids can race zoom around tracks with themes like Nintendo Mario Kart and Ferrari, both of which are prizes in this contest.
LEGO, Fingerlings, Dollhouses allow us to tap into our imaginations
LEGO, who doesn’t love it? You can recreate iconic scenes from your favourite films or build something truly one-of-a-kind that only you would dream up. Race in the Indy 500 with the LEGO Technic Rally car, casts spells in Hogwarts Great Hall, or explore a galaxy far far away in the Millenium Falcon. There are so many LEGO sets available I’ll leave it to you to find which LEGO set is the most magical to you.

Interactive toys, especially those that look like cuddly little creatures, bring the cartoon animal sidekick to life. (My personal favourites were Fizzgig from Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal and Pegasus from Disney’s Hercules). On of the hottest toys this year are the Fingerlings Hugs by WowWee. These lovable, interactive critters can say and do over 40 things, and have extra long arms for hugging and hanging around. Hatchimals too, offer children a chance to have their own animal companion. Children can hatch a mystery animal and nurture it as it learns and grows.
Just as children love caring for animals, so too do they love creating stories and imitating grown ups. Pretend play is an important element in a child’s development and toys like dollhouses and activity tables and playsets are wonderful ways for children to tap into their imaginations
Best Buy has the best selection of toys
As you can see from the above, Best Buy’s toy selection is impressive. Also impressive is Best Buy’s toy contest. Every year at this time we give away thousands of dollars worth of toys.

Definitely Lego! I remember asking for Lego every year so that my brother and I could build up our empire. It was also a way to stay quiet when Dad was sleeping after a set of night shifts. I remember very vividly that we got up at 4 a.m to exchange gifts rather then waiting until 3 in the afternoon. Rather than going back to bed after, my brother and I would stay up all day to build the Lego sets we had received.
The Power Wheels Jurassic Park Jeep Ride On Toy, for my two year old son. Since i was ten years old, i’ve been Obsessed with Jurassic Park. My son watches Dino Dana every day, love dinosaurs too. Would be amazing to see him driving around, looking for dinosaurs on his own.
My kids have been asking for a ride on power wheels vehicle. I bet the two of them would have a blast cruising in it down the sidewalk!
I always wanted the Barbie jeep when I was a kid but always forget to ask santa at Christmas time.
Definitely the Lego Architecture Series! They are so cool! I have been building lego sets for over 20 years and don’t plan on stopping. Haven’t started any in the Architecture Series and would love to start
My toy pick would be the Lego Hogwarts Great Hall from Best Buy. Never having had lego as a child, I enjoy helping my children put together and take apart their lego. Watching their creativity come alive brings the magic to me every time.
My daughter would love the 2 piece karaoke set, she loves to sing and she has been asking me for one forever lol she also would love pretty much any hatchimal
I’d love to get a Jolly Jumper for my 5 month old! I think that he would love hopping around (and that it would be funny to watch)!
Our daughter would love the KidKraft farm to table kitchen.
My daughter would love the KidKraft Farm to table play kitchen for her first birthday. We would love to share cooking as a family together.
My son would love the Sphero but its out of our price range!
Best Buy has so many great toys I didn’t know were available from them. Between my 4 and 6 year old boys they would both really love the vtech go go smart wheels race and play adventure track to drive around and explore. They already have a couple vtech vehicles and love them.
All of the toys look amazing, but as a family with five kids nine and under I think one of our favorite toys is LEGO. With no family support, we are constantly on the go with work, school, or kids’ activities. A lego kit built together gives our three older kids some undivided attention and time with Mom and Dad while the babies nap. Thank you for the chance to enter this wonderful contest!
my nieces (and i) love lego
One of my grandsons, the second of 6 kids, decided 2 days before Christmas last year that it would be wonderful to receive from Santa and of course, did not receive it. It would be wonderful to see his face if it somehow was under the tree this year
My twin grandchildren would love the Little Tykes Fun ZoneTumblin’ Tower Climber.
A robotic ball or vector robot would be a great gift for my grandchild. Will learn a lot while playing with this toy.
My friends kids would love to play with a KidKraft Charlotte Dollhouse to help with their moms very tight budget.
Power wheels jeep
A power wheels car would bring tears to my eyes as well as my nephews’ eyes this Christmas. Would truly be magical.
Power wheels jeep for my son
I would definitely have to pick a drone (the GoPro Parrot but I’m not picky). All the fun and nostalgia of a remote controlled car, but now they fly! Would be great for taking pictures of our cottage and lake too
My daughter loves tech! She loves anything from drawing animation on her iPad or seeing how my drone flies and even playing with her robot unicorn. But once she saw the Anki Vector on display… she was floored! She enjoyed how it interacted and it’s different moods. This is what my daughter would really LOVE for Christmas
I’d go for a Star Wars Lego box. When I was a kid, I built a TIE fighter and an X-Wing fighter out of generic sets, and I’d love to play with those again. Or even build them with my daughter, when she’s old enough!
I’m a single mom of 5 kids, so money is always tight around Christmas. My kids haven’t had a new video game system since the year the wii came out. They still play it often, which I love! In a day of kids addicted to personal screens, when they gather and play a game on the wii together, it melts my heart and brings them together. My oldest is wishing for a Nintendo Switch this year, and being the oldest he hardly gets anything all year round. And he would love some of his brothers to play along with him. So that is what we hope Santa can manage to bring to our house this year!
A robot when I was little my brothers and I were always trying to build robots we used boxes and silverware bowls pretty much any thing we could find we won second in a robot contest at school great memories thank best buy
Settlers of Catan Board Game would be a great choice for my 12 year old daughter. With her being our only child,we would play this game with her getting to spend quality time together playing this game would absolutely bring magic to our family! It’s a gift that keeps on giving!
All of the toys look amazing, but for us I think Lego is one of the best toys. As a family with five kids nine and under, and no family support, we are always on the go with work or kids activities. Working on a LEGO kit together gives my three older kids some undivided time and attention with mom and dad while the babies nap. Thank you for the chance to enter this contest!

My two toddlers love to play together. The ride on Maserati is perfect for them two, but it’s way out of our budget. Merry Christmas everyone!

Any LEGO toy would make a great gift.
If I put that Gyrocopters PRO 2.0 Hoverboard under the tree for my grandson I would be the best Nan ever.
We are definitely a Lego family!! My 9 year old son really likes the Friends and Jurassic World sets (as well as mini figure sets), my 12 year old loves the Ninjago Movie sets, and I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts sets!!!
