Best Buy has toys that create memories today for nostalgia tomorrow. Because toys are more than just playthings; they are sources of endless fun for all ages, and for adults they are bridges to the past. From the moment we grasp our first teddy bear as a child to the many times we nostalgically look back at our favourite childhood playthings, toys are integral to life. Explore some of the newest toys at Best Buy today, that will build memories to last a lifetime, then enter to win one of twelve fantastic toy bundles.

Toys create memories: the foundation of who we are

From the moment we’re born, toys become a part of our world. They are companions, teachers, and sources of comfort. As children, we assign personalities to our toys, embark on imaginary adventures with them, and even confide our deepest secrets to our plush friends.

For me, the stories I created while playing with cars and figurines established a love of storytelling and a love of writing. Remember the toy car that sparked your interest in automobiles? Or the doll that was your inseparable friend during those long summer days? These toys are not just objects; they are the building blocks of our childhood memories. They remind us of simpler times, filled with wonder, curiosity, and unbridled joy. The memories they created helped shape what we can do, what we know about the world—helped shape the adults we have become.

Toy nostalgia is a bridge to bygone days

There is one great scene in the second Tim Allan Santa Clause movie where a boring staff Christmas party is transformed into a fantastic, memorable night for all (in the film and in the theatre watching the film) thanks to a sackful of nostalgic toys like Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. There is no denying that toys can transport us back to our childhood, evoking a flood of emotions and memories. The scent of an old teddy bear, the familiar tune of a musical toy, or the worn-out pages of a childhood book can stir feelings of nostalgia. You’ll need to draw on some of those memories as you enter this contest.

The new toys that we are giving away in this contest will do for our children what toys did for us. They’ll help them learn about things, help them learn to socialize, etc. Many years from now, the toys you find at Best Buy today will evoke moments of nostalgia for our children. Here are the brands that provided toys for this year’s holiday toy contest. Learn about them, and click on the brand to see some of the best toys and games that 2023 has to offer.

  1. The power rangers sword brings back memories, my parents bought me the blaster , the morpher and the coins for my bday , I was sick and we couldn’t really afford much at the time but they put aside to make me happy.

  2. My friends and I had hours of fun playing the Monopoly Family Board Game. We played so long that we actually ran out of money and had to make up our own to keep the game going, Boardwalk and Park Place were the two gems on the board. I guess we were budding tycoons.

  3. First is legit not the worst for sure; I would have to say Hasbro. Why? because scrabble reminds me of a specific configuration I saw as a little girl in the start of ghost ship, turning the blocks, read spell out a word, a weird shape, kind of a shock. I usually still to this day do little word teases, and brain libs learning stacked a girl in her 20’s alone time, who doesn’t like that.

  4. The Atari PlayStation reminds me of the game my mom bought my younger brothers for Christmas. My brother and I would rush home from high school, set the game up, play and put it back in the box before the other 2 came home from school so it remained a surprise for them.

  5. The new toy is the 3D Doodler which reminds me of classics like etch a sketch and the even more primitive magnetic hair guy toy. It’s very cool to see how far toys have come

  6. Hasbro’s Game of Life reminds me of my first time playing Game of Life when I was six years old. I was younger than what the game recommended to play, but I wanted to try any way. And to everyone’s surprise, I had a stroke of luck and won the game, which is my first memory of ever winning a board game ever.

  7. Toy Shock Barbie Large Kitchen Set with Accessories reminds me of playing house with my friends. We used to have awesome tea parties with Barbie and Ken as our guests.

  8. I remember playing Battleship with my brother as kids. Any time one of us would sink a boat, we would always say ‘you sunk my battleship!!’ just the way the commercials would say it

  9. Twister brings back memories of playing it with my siblings and my mom and dad joining in one night. We laughed until it hurt!

  10. The Barbie Beauty playset reminds me of the Barbie Styling Head which my friends and I had a lot of fun playing with.

  11. I have great memories playing Hasbro Twister Party Game when I was younger so much fun especially if my parents played too. Played it as well with my son and his friends and now the tradition continues and we’ll get my granddaughter and grandson to play too

  12. The stomp rockets sound awesome. We used to try to make rockets using water bottles and it never went as well as we would have hoped!

  13. I like the Stomp Rocket Ultra Rockets since they remind me of a LEGO 897 SPACE ROCKET LAUNCHER that I put together many years ago. The difference is that my LEGO didn’t launch like these cool Stomp Rockets.

  14. Our family and friends always had fun on board game night playing Hasbro’s Clue Board Game and Monopoly. I still enjoy playing these games after many years.

  15. I would like the 3doodler. For my grand daughters. It would be a wonderful gift they can share and have hours of fun with. They would be thrilled.

  16. Hasbro Twister Party Game was a fun game to play with friends. It helped to have agility and good luck with the spinner.

  17. The Droyd Romper Ride-On Toy Electric Bike reminds me of my Big Wheels trike I had when I was a kid. It was great fun!

  18. The game Risk by Hasbro! It reminds me of my childhood because we would spend hours playing it in our backyard during the summer.

  19. The LeapFrog PAW Patrol: To the Rescue! Video Game reminds me of the gameboy that I used to share with my brother and playing tetris against each other, I loved the different ways of manipulating the shapes to make a row.

  20. I remember waking up on Christmas morning to find a kitchen playset under the tree and I was overwhelmed with joy. The Toy Shock Barbie Large Kitchen Set with Accessories is an awesome set and will make someone as happy as I was on that day.

  21. The Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Series – Mutt & Junkyard Action Figure brings back fond memories. As child, I started playing with plastic army men and then I graduated to G.I Joe. The G.I Joe with the accessories kept me busy for hours.

  22. I loved the Game of Life. We played that endlessly. It was a lot of fun.
The new game Hasbro Ultimate Catch Phrase looks like a lot of fun too.

  23. The Hasbro Make It Real Juicy Couture Love Letters Bracelets bring back memories of the bracelet kits my younger sister and I used to spend hours creating with in the ’90s. Everyone, including Mom, Dad, and even the dog, got one! Lol.

  24. The new toy is Marvel Spider-Man Web Warriors Chutes & Ladders Game. It reminds me of Snakes & Ladders I played as a kid with my cousins . We had a good time laughing.

  25. The Droyd Romper Ride-On Electric Bike reminds me of the Big Wheel, it had a yellow seat and big black tires and a pull handle to stop. I rode it until the tires wore off literally as the were hollow and got huge holes in them. I was on that thing from morning till night and in winter I made my parents bring it in for me to ride in basement.

  26. Hungry Hippos was one of my favorite games growing up. I was quick to eat up as many marbles as possible.

  27. I loved the game Payday when I was a kid- used to make me happy to travel along the game board and do a job and get paid- lol. I don’t think it is made anymore- but Life is sort of similar.

  28. Any Hasbro board game. We now collect them and have many of the old ones including one of the more original Monopolies.

  29. Leapfrog was my own personal tutor when I came home from school. I learned how to read and I only had 1 book which had the united states map on it, so I actually learned the 50 states before I learned canadian provinces and territories.
