DJI drones are versatile for photography and really fun to fly. Their newest model, the DJI Mavic Air 2, can film in 4K at 60 frames per second! That is seriously amazing. It can reach amazing heights, speeds, and distances, so it’s much more than a toy. However, when used responsibly it elevates your senses—you’ll feel like you’re a bird in the sky! Read more about the newest drone in the DJI family, then enter for a chance to win the demo model that we had reviewed on the blog.

What can you do with a drone

A drone is more than just a flying camera. It does fly; and it has a camera. But fly a drone and suddenly you realize this is a very unique experience. First there is the feeling of lift-off—you’ll never forget that surge of excitement. Remember you are in control, elevating, tilting, drifting to the left and right. There is a learning curve, but it’s not steep; quickly you adjust your perspective to react appropriately to capture the bird’s eye view of your surroundings. If you are able to use it near your home, you’ll will gain a new appreciation for the world around you. For me, rising about ten metres above my house allowed me to capture a view of several gulf islands including Saltspring and Pender.

DJI packs their drones with amazing features

With the new DJI Mavic Air 2, you will be able to do so much more than you might think from the moment you turn it on. It is so easy to use. We sent the prize for this contest to Shelly to test it out and she was amazed that she instantly was able to capture smooth, professional looking videos, right out of the box. Watch her video to see some of the images of her farm taken with the drone.

Shelly shows what’s included with the drone, how to assemble the drone, and offers some tips on how to fly it. She also speaks to many of the unique features that enable you to do some really interesting things with simple menu selections. I love the Helix Quickshot function!

The Mavic Air 2 has many features to help you get the most from flying it. It can even help you find safe flying areas near your home. This is very important; you will want to be sure about what areas near you allow drones and if there are maximum height restrictions too. You should read Shelly’s article for a more in-depth descripton of some of the key features that she tested. Be sure to return to this page to learn what you need to do to enter our contest.

  2. I’ve always wanted to get a powerful drone for my son, but with the unique features of the DJI Mavic Air 2 Quadcopter Drone, I can’t tell a lie – I will definitely be using this drone too. Its 5,000-metre elevation and 10km transmission distance, coupled with its auto take-off and auto landing (for easier operation) are what I find most interesting about the drone.

  3. The best feature of this drone is the object avoidance systems. You can do complex maneuvers and focus on video composition without worry of crashing. Amazing drone and I hope to own one one day.

  4. I’m most eager to try the active tracking feature. Especially because it has omnidirectional obstacle sensing, meaning you can get cool shots in places that typical tracking features wouldn’t allow for!

  5. I would definitely want to use all the tracking modes while travelling with my family to distant locations! Never tried the photo mode on a drone before but by watching Shelley use it I think it will be something we would want to experiment with during a sunset or two. The Magic 2 being so feature rich and yet incredibly small and lightweight just blows me away. What a cool machine!

  6. The feature I’m most eager to try is the 4K camera so I can explore the woods surrounding my home.

  7. I would like to test the range 10km is pretty far and easier then hiking through the bush or around a lake

  8. Definitely look forward to the auto follow. The GPS return to home and looks so easy to fly! The gimbal and the resolution

  9. I would love to be able to fly in and observe the diverse animal life that exists in my area and recording it watch again and again. Nothing beats being able to capture the fauna in real time for perservation

  10. This drone would be useful for my clients viewing a property in these times of isolation and pandemic. It would be great for taking photos and videos in all the different options and modes. Love it!

  11. If only I had one of these drones years ago. I would use it to check my roof to see If the roof has any problems like missing tiles. Love the feature that allow for Auto-take off, auto-land, and automatic return to home point on low battery.
I know it will give me the photos and videos already. A new toy for sure!

  12. LOVE TO TRY THIS DRONE TO check on my property from the air and not have to climb a ladder and put myself or someone in danger. The feature to help with this the ability to take photos and videos and Scene Recognition that will know what I am looking for and at.
