How easy is to use an Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer?

The Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer series are known for their ease of set up and for providing an inexpensive, easy to use way to shoot professional looking videos with just your smartphone. You know the problem we all have with phone videos: they are jittery, lose focus of the subject, etc. Capturing steady always-on-point videos by holding a phone in your hand is not easy. Mount the phone in an Osmo and suddenly a whole world of videography opens up. The gimble and software can keep the subject in the center of the field of view no matter if your hand is shaking or bouncing around. Imagine you are filming a lightning storm from a moving car on a bumpy road; with your smartphone in an Osmo Mobile the image is perfectly stable. It really does all the work; you just hold it in your hand and decide what to shoot.

I am writing this article before the Osmo Mobile 4 launches, so I don’t know what incredible features it will have. I did send one to reviewers for an in-depth article about it; but, the reviews aren’t ready yet (I’ll add a link here as soon as the review goes live). You, however, are reading this contest article just after the launch. So, the first thing you need to do is to go to the product page that also just went live and read about the features of the new Osmo Mobile 4, then come back here and enter the contest.

  2. The magnetic quick mount and active track are great features. Would still like to see a way to charge phone while on the gimble as phone battery life has been my challenge with phone based stabilizers.

  5. I would love to try the magnetic mount, DynamicZoom and even seeing if its true that the battery lasts so long! That would be amazing!

  9. I really like that it lasts up to 15 hours on a single charge. That means I can take it with me and on that theme, I like that it is foldable and portable and fits in a travel pouch so it would fit in my purse or backpack. It would be so neat for videos. What a great invention.

  14. I would enjoy or like to try:
    The Magnetic Mode
    The Dynamic ZOOM
    The Gesture Controls and the DJl Mimo App.
    the above would give me quick access in setting up my phone to mount, zoom use gestures to take a photo or record, etc and then the Mimo App would allow me to quickly tell the/a story by making a movie etc.

  19. The magnetic clip-on is what sets OM4 apart for me. I can use my phone normally and snap right onto the gimbal when I want to shoot video.

    Rebalancing every time you need to take the phone off the gimbal is a real hassle in practice, and makes me not bother using gimbals as much as I wanted to. The magnet is a simple (even obvious) redesign but is actually the game changer here.

    Another feature is the Dolly-zoom feature as part of the OM4 app. That makes some cinematic shots possible that were not easy to pull off before.

  21. I would like to try the dynamic zoom for dolly shots. And I would really be interested in using the Cloneme Pano feature since I’m planning a series of Back to the Future parody videos.
    Looks like some good new features!

  24. I’d like to try how easy it is to use the magnetic quick mount. The DynamicZoom looks fantastic too.

  25. I tried the last model once, and it was really amazing, but getting it balanced was hard. I’m looking forward to the new mount in hopes it makes that process easier. Also looking forward to leaving how to make custom scenes.

  30. The feature Active track to film myself and the east of use of Magnetic Mount to switch between devices quickly.

  31. the magnetic mount seems incredibly handy and ActiveTrack 3.0 is another thing that makes the mobile 4 such a good device
