Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! What makes Ring really smart
My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.
Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.
Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!
What are your smart home concerns
Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.
So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

We are on a corner lot so my concern is about getting packages dropped at our front door, they can easily be stolen as someone is passing by.

My greatest security concern is strangers that come to our front door while I am out and my teenage girls are home, so having a video doorbell would really put my mind at ease!
Yard security is my biggest concern. The Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera would address this concern.
We have a larger property, with my husbands shop away from the house, he’s a mechanic so he has 1000s of dollars worth of tools that let him run his small shop. We have had way to many run-ins in our neighbourhood, and surrounding area with break-ins & theft. Our little cul-de-sac community have come together to keep an eye out to try and keep us safe! But a camera security system would make me feel so much safer as a stay at home mom! And whenever we leave for the weekend!

Break ins and theft are high in my area. I have two little kids and am concerned for my safety. We have neighbourhood watch implemented just for this reason. This security system will help ease my mind. I will be sure to let the neighbourhood watch members know about this product.
The Ring Floodlight cam would be great for the side of my house or backyard. My backyard faces an open field and our fence is low. The night vision would be great to view the field especially with the 140 degree angle. The Ring Floodlight is compatible with my Android and my husband’s iPhone. I’d like to help keep vandalism down in our neighbourhood.
We’ve had a number of thefts in our neighbourhood in the past few years, and a few months ago, we actually had our license plate stolen off our truck and replaced with our neighbours plate! The police were never able to track down our plate, so I really wish we had had the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p camera to be able to catch the culprits! At the very least, this could help prevent future crimes.

I order lots of products online and I have heard and seen videos of packages going missing. The ring doorbell would solve this issue and potentially help identify and catch wrong doers….

The camera is something we would like as it seems the photo is of excellent quality. T he system we have now is grainy and black and white only. We’ve had a theft and couldn’t identify the person.
