Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  2. The next door pets are always ruining my flower garden in the front. However, it is very hard to proof without any evidence. Would love to have a doorbell camera to see who is coming and going. I would love to have the product…Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell 2. Thanks.

  3. We could really use this camera/light because we cannot see who is at the front door until we open it. Getting older and this would give us both a peace of mind.

  5. I need a wireless solution for my garage or faced with a wire cutting across my lawn. The Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera would be a great solution.

  14. i have a parent who has alzeimers. this product would be great so when i’m at work i could keep an eye on her and also know who is at the door before entering it. this would be a life saver. it is hard work to take care of a sick parent.

  15. probably the front enterance and the ring door bell would be the best cause I can see who is there, what packages are being delivered and everything that happens in front of our home

  16. My most pressing concern is our vehicle is parked behind our condo, we live in a house with only a front door so I cannot keep an eye on our vehicle. This would provide a piece of mind. As well, I am often home alone as my partners work requires he travel. It would be nice to know who is at the door. Thanks Best Buy.

  17. A Ring video doorbell would be really handy to figure out who’s at the door, before opening it. Much better than a peephole.

  18. My most pressing security issue is that we live in a bad neighborhood and I would benefit from security technology sooo much!

  19. We have been having an issue with car break-ins in our neighbourhood so I would love to have the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera. It would be great to deter the thieves and also get video of them in the act.

  20. Lots of break ins in our neighborhood, we already had our windows smashed and fence broken in a couple of failed attempts.. It would be helpful to catch the blind spots that our current Cameras have. It’s a rather large area to cover after all

  21. I’d like to see who is at the door or around my property when I’m not there. I have had a restraining order in the past and would like to be sure that person doesn’t come around my new home.

  22. I’ll be honest Martin, I am not really worried about people breaking into my house, there are a lot of us here and the house is never really empty, plus we have a nice big scary dog (he’s a baby though). I am worried about vandalism to my cars, and people stealing my many many Bestbuy purchases from my doorstep! That is my concern.

That said, the Spotlight wireless outdoor camera is what I would need:

  23. Our most pressing problem is not being able to see who comes to the door, when we’re working in the basement. I think this could be solved with a Ring WiFi 720p Video Doorbell.

  24. Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell Pro would be great, I’d be able to see who is at the door before I answer it (or not answer it)

  25. It would be great to be able to see who is at the front door late at night without opening the door first.

  26. We have friends who have a Ring Video door bell installed. They love it ! As a retired police officer, security and safety are important these days and this technology provides both.

  27. My home is next to a wooded area and my driveway is in complete darkness at night. We’ve had several instances of people parking near our house at night and drinking in their cars. Some mornings there are empty beer cans found along my lawn. The Ring Outdoor Spotlight Cam sounds like it’d be a great way to monitor my driveway.

  28. My most pressing security issue would be not knowing who is at the door, and amazon packages going missing. The video doorbell would definitely combat this!

  29. We would definitely benefit from having a camera with a light. We have had some incidents involving the unsavoury characters that roam our neighbourhood. This would be a blessing.

  30. We are installing a whole new front entry in our house. We are seniors and security is a concern. We have an old doorbell, but we can’t actually see who is on the other side of the door. A Ring Doorbell would be perfect for us

  31. My mom who is 91 still lives in her. Setting up the grand prize for her would be awesome. I would have greater peace knowing that she is safe. Video doorbell would be super sweet.
