Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  1. Our driveway is very dark so the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera would be very useful for us at night by lighting my way inside.

  2. Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell Pro would be great, I’d be able to see who is at the door before I answer it (or not answer it)

  3. Ring Floodlight Cam would be perfect for seeing who is coming and for when I get home at night it would light my way.

  4. Having a ring flood light would not only make my driveway brighter and protected but also let the theives know that I’m monitoring all the montions around my home with door bell cams

  5. always leave my car out front , like to check out the surroundings before heading out make sure there hasnt been damage or a break in

  6. Being able to monitor the doors of the house would certainly help in knowing who’s coming by. So the Ring Spotlight Wireless outdoor camera for me.

  7. The video doorbell… Just the idea some random people ringing the doorbell and not knowing who they are.. Also, with this doorbell, I don’t need to worry about stolen packages anymore.

  8. I have got 2 kids that like to leave back/front door open, I think the ring products provide the knowing (viewing sensors/camera) and being able to see what is left open and the cameras our perfect if you don’t want to answer the door. Also, with integration with IFTTT and openhab/HASS, product works very well around.

  9. We are often away from home & the RING 2 Video Doorbell will give us peace of mind when we are not there.the ability to see whos there provides a huge sense of comfort.

  10. My kids are at home before and after school so having home security and me being able to see what is happening is reassuring. Nice to know when they are home safely. Also helps if someone comes to the door they can also see and not answer it if it’s a stranger.

  11. My biggest concern is that my neighbours are far apart and I don’t like answering the door when I’m home alone. The video doorbell would make me feel much safer!

  12. No window facing the front of the house. We never really know whats going on out front. The Ring floodlight cam will give us eyes around the property.

  13. The Ring Floodlight Cam – Black would be great so that anyone approaching out front porch would be in the light!

  14. Ring Home Security because I can monitor my house any time of the day, whether I am at work, out or on vacation.

  15. Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera would make me feel so much safer. We have no extra security here and since I’m often on my own at home this would be ideal for me.

  16. The most pressing concern is the windows and doors. I have a young family with a 2 and a 5 year old. We have an apartment on the ground floor of a great neighborhood but terrible building. The “Ring Alarm Wireless Security Kit” would be great. Being able to monitor the kids windows and the main door at all times would be amazing piece of mind.

  17. We are often away from home & the RING 2 Video Doorbell will give us peace of mind when we are not there. Giving us the ability to see who has come & gone, getting instant notification on our i-Phones is a Big Plus, along with the ability to interact/converse with anyone that arrives at the door gives us security & comfort (What a great piece of technology, with easy to install instruction) . Cloud Storage is a great way to save & retrieve the video.

  18. I like the idea of the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera – 2 Pack for our Security issues thank you

  19. We live in a Condo Townhouse on an end unit on a path and several times stuff has been taken from our front yard or the doorbell has been rung in the middle of the night so I think the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera – 2 Pack would be a great idea please and thank you

  20. We live in a neighborhood where car hopping is a thing, We’ve had things stolen from our yard before as well. I’d love to have the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera.

  21. Figuring out who’s at the door is always a big concern for us. Too many unwelcomed visitors stopping by these days. A Ring Video Doorbell would help out a lot. A video doorbell would not only improve our security, but it would also let us ignore annoying sales people.

  22. The cams are what my home really needs. We already have a motion triggered flood light but we aren’t able to SEE what’s going on all around our property. My wife doesn’t like to answer the door, without first knowing who it is. The video doorbell would solve that problem.

  23. I got a carport and have people snooping around many times .. a camera in the back of the house would give a piece of mind.

  24. We hardly get anyone at the door and we are always home. I think the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera – 2 Pack would be a better fit for us. We need to be able to tell when someone has been around our vehicles and in the backyard.

  25. My biggest concern is not seeing who is behind the door before opening it. This video doorbell will solve this problem by showing clearly who is knocking.

  26. I feel very insecure having to look through the door hole and find it very intimidating to try to see who’s on the other side, so the ring spotlight wireless camera would be a great help for me.

  27. The Ring Spotlight Wired Outdoor 1080p IP Camera – Black. I hate it when somebody rings the bell just to get to another apartment. It wouldn’t have to ring back the door since I know who they are.

  28. Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell Pro.
I live in an apartment and miss knocks all the time and I don’t trust PeepHoles.
This Video doorbell would be perfect for deliveries and whatnot.

  29. I would love the RIng front of the house camera to monitor any packages getting dropped off, cant ever be too safe!

  30. Ring, doesn’t get better than that for a Home Security System.
I have no security system as yet and I am about to retire so this would definitely fit the bill.
Once again, Thank You Best Buy for the chance to win.

  31. Out here in the boonies you never know who or what is creeping around. This prize is much better than yelling “Who goes there?”, especially since it would take awhile for the police to come.

  32. The cams are what my home really needs. We already have a motion triggered flood light but we aren’t able to SEE what’s going on all around our property.

  33. Figuring out who’s at the door is always a big concern for us. Too many unwelcomed visitors stopping by these days. A Ring Video Doorbell would help out a lot.
