Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  1. i take care of my mother who has alzeimers and this would make me feel much better having that when i am working. she could see who it is without opening the door and i could also see it from where i work.

  2. I am at home alone a lot, and do not enjoy answering unexpected doorbells. It would make me feel safer having the Video Doorbell 2 so I could see who is at the door first and decide if I will answer.

  3. The Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor camera would be great to have. I live in a Rural area with lots of animals around. When I let my dogs out at night, there is always the possibility a bear would be there, so it would be nice to see before hand.

  4. Crime in our area is on the rise. Safety us a huge concern. Would love to win to put mind a little at ease

  5. When I’m home alone I don’t like to answer the door. The Ring doorbell would help me know if answering the door is necessary or not.

  6. As someone who is partially deaf, a Ring doorbell would alert me on my phone or tablet when someone is at the door. I tend to never hear the doorbell or someone knocking.

  7. I would like to see that our house is secure and the Ring Alarm Starter Wireless Security Kit seems that it would be best for us.

  8. The Ring Spotlight Cam, because I feel concerned most about break ins. There have been a lot in our neighbourhood lately, and I actually accidentally saw someone trying to break into the house right across the street! So this would help me feel more safe.

  9. We’ve lived in an area that, in the past, has been a prime location for meth houses. Recently, there has been multiple boxes of old clothes being left against my garage door. Harmless at first glance but I got a nasty surprise as I was trying to clean up. There were used needles through amoungst the clothes! After disposing if everything properly, about a week later, another stack of boxes appeared up against my garage door. Their are many children who play in that back alley and I would like to keep my neighbourhood safe.

  10. Our vehicles have been broken into in the past and there are always people roaming around at night. I would love one of these systems to make us feel safer when we are home and when we are away.
Looks like an awesome product and they have excellent reviews.

  11. My most pressing security concern is being able to see who is at the door – without opening the door, particularly at night or when I am home alone with the kids. I think the product that could be of most use is a ring doorbell.

  12. I get nervous when someone is at the door at night when I am alone. This would make me feel so much safer as l would be able to see who was at the door.

  13. I’d like a series of spotlight cams around my large property. One at the driveway entrance, one at the home entrance and perhaps one at the garage.

  14. We have a problem with people stealing our packages left at the front door as well as people snooping around our garage that is on the other side of the house and we can’t see. I think we would benefit from a full Ring Home Security system.

  15. We could use a camera on the doorbell to monitor who is coming up to the house (or going past to the back). I really like the Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell 2 for that.

  16. Ring Alarm Wireless Security Kit would be so awesome becuase my biggest conern is my dog being home alone adn not so honest poeple trying to get in. i dont want my baby hurt at all

  18. We have lots of kids coming and going, so it would be good to be able to see who and when through the camera!

  19. I would like to be able to see what the maintenance men are doing when they come to do repairs when I am not home. I am sure they are perfectly honest, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

  20. My most pressing security concern is the traffic through my dark, unfenced backyard. I need the Ring Floodlight Cam!

  21. So many rural B&E lately. I installed the ring flood cam at Neighbours place. Works very well.
It’s time for me to get one as well

  22. I would love to have the Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell 2 to see who is at the door while in the basement. I can then use the wifi locking system to unlock the door for friends and family who are visiting.

  23. i am home by myself most of the time as my hubby works away, i am always hearing noises in the back yard, so something that can keep a watch, a flood light would be nice

  24. I had to move to the West end of the city after being separated and believing my husband I had to move because he asked for a divorce, I know not very knowledgeable about the law, it took me a long time and having problems with mobile issues due to 3 degenerative discs and I go pretty slow and the crime in this area is pretty bad. I am not used to this type of area. Two attempted break-in’s and I am renting the top floor. I am scared to death living here and with no camera’s because my landlord cannot afford them winning this would be the best thing in the world for me. I don’t want to override anyone else but this area is all I can afford. I am not on Welfare just trying to get by. Whatever is I won something would be amazing to make me feel safe here.

  25. Concern is what is happening with the kids in the yard.
Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera – 2 Pack.

  26. The video doorbell is an a great system for families to see who is at the door, especially when young children are involved. It gives you an extra security level that keeps you safe in your home.

  27. We’ve had a break in where I suspect it was from someone who posed as a canvasser for charities, I think a door bell cam would help us monitor and take quick action when we are away.

  28. I would like to see who is at the door before having my presence known . This way I can decide if I want to answer or not.

  29. My biggest security concern is if we are away for an extended period. The Ring Floodlight Cam seems like it would give us some peace of mind.

  30. Work odd hours in older area, has been alot of break in as of lately spot light cameras could be placed around yard ? maybe help deter from being next victim.

  31. Most concerned about break-ins via a side door that is hidden by shrubbery – the Ring Floodlight Cam would be a great deterrent.
