camera fan.jpgDecember is here and it’s time to start planning the perfect Christmas – no pressure at all! Well you can reduce the stress levels by getting at least one present out of the way early. If you’re lucky enough to have a camera fanatic in your life, this is an easy one to knock out of the park because camera fanatics love new gear and here at Best Buy, we’ve got you covered.

Today I’m going to pick out a few items that I personally would be very happy to find in my stocking on December 25th.

First off I want to talk about the Eye-Fi Mobi SDHC memory cards. Available in 8 gigabyte and 16 gigabyte capacities, these brilliant cards are capable of adding wi-fi transfer capability to your camera so that you can pull images to your smart device and share them in an instant. Before you run off to make a purchase however, you need to think about compatibility. For example, some DSLRs only work with compact flash cards. So please take note of the card type that’s in the camera already.

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic camera is super cool. It harkens back to the classic days of polaroid when we had that magical experience of taking a photograph and instantly seeing it print and develop. And yes you get that gorgeous lo-fi quality from Instax which basically makes everything look cooler.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the Sony RX100 M3 earlier this year, and it made quite the impression. This is pound-for-pound one of the best cameras out there. It backs a huge amount of technology and fantastic image quality into a tiny and unassuming package. If your camera fanatic likes to tote a big heavy DSLR around, this pocket rocket just might revolutionize their life.

Most cameras come with a strap these days, but often they’re not the best. They’re usually designed to hang your camera around your neck, which a lot of photographers don’t like to do. A really cool alternative is the BlackRapid Metro Sling, which goes over the shoulder and across the body to allow the camera to hang at the hip, within easy reach. I also like the look of this OP/TECH Grip Strap, which means you don’t need a neck or a shoulder strap to secure your camera.

Camera bags are another great gift idea. The Vanguard Vojo DSLR shoulder bag has a really nice, classic look to it. It has lots of pockets and compartments and even comes with an attached rain cover – a necessity if your camera fanatic happens to reside out here on the Rain Coast! Another option I’ve always fancied is a Pelican case. Pelican cases are rugged and durable, and also waterproof, perfect for keeping expensive camera equipment safe. The foam interior on this Pelican 1450 is customizable, so you can adjust it to accept any make or model of camera.

That’s a pretty sweet lineup of gift ideas right there – I am really looking forward to Christmas!
