Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 features

The Instax Mini 12 instant camera features two easy-to-use modes. Twist the lens to turn the camera on. Twist again to enter close-up mode (perfect for taking selfies). This camera features a front-facing selfie mirror, automatic flash control, automatic exposure adjustment, and mini-sized 85 mm x 54 mm (2.4″ x 1.8″) instant prints.

Instant cameras are all about capturing the moment as it happens, which is why it’s so important that the process is seamless. Fujifilm works hard to ensure that each new Instax Mini coming out is better than the last.

In the past, we’ve seen improvements to the Instax line with features like new grip shapes and different lighting settings. The 12 goes beyond that to adjust a fundamental part of the Instax Mini: The Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 features parallax correction for close-up mode. Now, when you twist the camera to close-up mode, what you see through the viewfinder is exactly what you’ll capture through the lens.

When you’re taking candid analog photos, precision can be vital in creating the perfect image—especially when it comes to close-ups. For users who take their instant photography seriously, parallax correction in the camera’s viewfinder is a game-changer.

What colours does the Instax Mini 12 come in?

The Mini 12 comes in five shades: Pastel Blue, Mint Green, Blossom Pink, Lilac Purple and Clay White. These are different colourways than the Mini 11 was available in, but Fujifilm fans may recognize one of them: Clay White is also available in the brand’s Instax Mini Link 2 smartphone printer, reviewed here on the Best Buy Blog.

Instax Mini 12 instant camera specs

The Mini 12 can print 2.4″ x 1.8″ with five-second high-speed printing and automatic film ejection. Each photo takes about 90 seconds to develop depending on ambient temperature. On the back side of the camera, you’ll see the device’s film pack confirmation window, shot counter, and real image viewfinder (with parallax correction for close-up mode).

This camera lists an automatic ISO of 800 (Lv 5.0 to 14.5) and an electronic shutter of 1/2 sec to 1/250 sec. It uses slow synchro in low light conditions and has a built-in flash (automatic light adjustment) with a 7 second recycle time. Its effective flash range is 0.3 metres to 2.2 metres.

To save battery life, this device auto powers off after five minutes.

They’re perfect for tucking into your wallet, adding to a scrapbook, or stringing up along your dorm room wall.

To save your Instax photos in one digital location, Fuijifilm has recently added a new feature to their Instax app. Download their app to scan your physical Instax Mini 12 prints using your smartphone, upload them to the cloud, and turn them into sharable, digital snaps that you can edit from your phone.

  1. There is something special about a photograph on paper rather than on screen. Most of the images on our phones never get looked at again but a paper photograph on a wall, or in an album on a shelf will be looked at for years to come.

    • Yes, exactly!! Prints and instant prints still feel so special, even when we have smartphones on us at all times.
