Mother’s Day is almost here again. It’s a brand new season, warm days are finally arriving, and as a mom of four, I’m the guest of honour on this special day. Every year my kids give me two gifts; something bought and something made, and I love seeing how creative they are with their Mother’s Day gifts. If you’re looking for something for the mom in your life too, here are a few mom-suggested gifts you can choose from.
Best tech gifts for Mother’s Day
If the mom in your life is a tech fan, there are so many great gifts you can choose for her.
Gift her with a smartwatch
A smartwatch will track her fitness activity and with some models, her heart rate. Take the latest Fitbit for example; it has a few all-new features that make it a must-have for any mom who loves to track her runs, walks, or just wants to know what her overall health level is. With a Fitbit on her wrist she can track her SpO2, calories burned, sleep, skin temperature, and use the on-wrist EDA sensor to track her Stress Management Score.
Some models have built-in GPS and voice assistance via Google Assitant and Alexa. I’ve tried many different models of Fitbit and found the brand to be one of the easiest to wear and most useful smartwatches available right now.
Smart displays help her with her day
A smart display is one of the best gifts I can think of for any mom. You can set it up anywhere in your home and it works as a crystal clear display, speaker, and voice assistant, all in one.
There are quite a few different smart displays to choose as Mother’s Day gifts. For ease of use, you may want to choose one that is compatible with her smartphone. I have an iPhone and I brought home the first generation of the Google Nest Hub. I cannot tell you how much I have loved having it in my kitchen. The second generation of Google Nest Hub has been upgraded to 1024 x 600 resolution on the 7″ screen, and you can watch everything from YouTube to Netflix and Disney+ on it. The speaker has been enhanced for deeper bass and crisp, clear audio, and it’s a central control hub for all of your smart home devices.
I use my smart display to monitor my Nest cams from the kitchen, and I love having it read out the steps to recipes as I cook. It offers a great way to keep your family schedule on track as everyone can log in and add to the Google calendar. If the mom in your life has trouble sleeping, the new Sleep Sensing will give her insight into her evenings. It will track when she goes to bed, how long she’s slept, and when she wakes up. There’s also a Sunrise alarm to slowly brighten the display and help her wake up in the morning.
Kitchen gifts for Mother’s Day
I love receiving small appliances and other cool kitchen gadgets for gifts. They always help me improve my cooking game in the kitchen, and I have a lot of fun using them to cook with the kids.
Air Fryers are the most popular small appliance
The air fryer is still one of the most popular small appliances available. Having an air fryer means you can cook pub-style ‘fried’ food at home but you don’t have to add oil. Everything is served up crispy and delicious. You just have to try making a batch of french fries in an air fryer and you’ll be hooked on cooking with one. I tested out the Insignia Air Fryer Oven in the fall and I loved how it made family-sized dishes and could roast an entire chicken. I tried out quite a few recipes and everything turned out perfectly.
A stand mixer is a great Mother’s Day gift
I received a stand mixer on Mother’s Day a few years ago and it was one of my favourite gifts ever. I use it for making bread dough, mixing cookie dough, and whipping whip cream. It is the easiest way to make any type of batter or dough, and brands like KitchenAid always have such great colours to complement your kitchen. I love the pinks and greens, but I’m also a huge fan of the navy KitchenAid Stand Mixer.
If she already has a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, one of the coolest kitchen gifts you can buy are stand mixer attachments. You can choose the KitchenAid Grinder, Pasta Roller and Cutter, Prep Slicer and Shredder, and many more.
Gifts to complete her style
Jewelry isn’t something we ever seem to choose for ourselves, so it’s extra special when you receive it as a gift. A great choice in necklaces right now is a pendant necklace. You can find them with St.Christopher pendants, gemstones, dog tags, charms, and so much more. I have one pendant necklace I like to wear and I add to it when I see something that catches my eye. You could give her a necklace as a Mother’s Day gift and she can add charms and pendants to hers too.
Gifts for self-care
Self-care is more important than ever. If anyone needs to have a bit of relaxing downtime, it’s the mom in your life. With these gifts, she can get a little R&R.
Stretching eases stress
Yoga does tone your body, but I find it’s one of the best ways to relax. Stretching eases sore muscles and reduces stress and tension, and it’s a great way to wind down after a busy day.
Help her get a good night’s rest
Even if she has a nightly routine and tries to get as much sleep as possible, it can be hard for a mom to get a good night’s rest. There are many different types of sleep aids you can gift for Mother’s Day that can help her get better rest.
Is her mattress older and uncomfortable? You can gift her a new mattress with new bedding. Does she feel anxious when trying to sleep? A weighted blanket can help ease anxiety. If her bedroom is located in a place where outside noise prevents her from getting a good night’s rest, a white noise machine can help block sound.
Set the tone with the scent from diffusers
As a mom, self-care can mean shutting the door to the outside world, closing your eyes, and just relaxing for 10 minutes. An aroma diffuser can help with relaxation by misting the room with relaxing scents. Some aromatherapy diffusers play white noise and have coloured lights she can turn on to complete the experience.
Massage chairs give her a spot to relax
A massage chair looks a lot like other chairs you place in your living room, but this chair plugs into the wall and provides a relaxing massage from head to toe. You can find massage chairs with variable programs Mom can run every day, and it will be her go-to chair to help you relax after a busy day.
Gifts for moms who like gardening
If the mom in your life has a green thumb or just loves plants, there are a lot of different gardening gifts you can choose. If she likes to grow fruits and vegetables you can choose an indoor smart garden. There are also small greenhouses for outside or wood planters she can use to plant flowers or vegetables.
Moms who love to relax with coffee or tea
Having a cup of tea or coffee in the late afternoon is a great way for mom to de-stress. Choose an espresso maker as a Mother’s Day gift if she enjoys lattes, or if she enjoys tea, a pretty kettle is a great Mother’s day choice.
Mother’s day gifts for new moms
If you know a new mom and it’s her first Mother’s day, you can make her day even more special by choosing a special gift for her.
Baby monitors help new moms sleep
One of the hardest parts of a baby’s first year is trying to set a sleep schedule. With a video baby monitor, you can check in on your baby without having to go into the room. Some of the latest baby monitors also monitor breathing and have Wi-Fi built in so you can use them with an app.
Baby travel systems make transporting a breeze
Getting out of the house can be hard when you have a newborn, and one of the biggest challenges for new moms is when the baby is asleep but you still need to take them somewhere. With a baby travel system, you never have to disturb your baby’s sleep. You can keep your baby in his or her car seat, take the car seat in and out of the car, and click it into a stroller so you can go for a walk.
Feeding systems make feeding babies easy
With all of the different food choices you can give your baby, it can be hard to decide which is the best option. If you know a new mom who’s just moving to solids or has switched to formula, you can gift her with a food prep kit to make her own baby food or a formula dispensing machine.
Add a chair to the nursery
A new mom will spend hours sitting and feeding her baby. You can make her a lot more comfortable by adding a comfortable recliner to the nursery. Another great addition to a home with a new baby is a massage chair. A 10 or 20-minute massage session every day will ease the aches and pain she’ll have from holding and rocking her baby.
She’ll get style points for her diaper bag
As a new mom, I loved having a stylish diaper bag. It gave me a place to store everything for my baby, but it also looked great when I carried it around. You can give the gift of a new diaper bag with style, and she’ll love carrying it around too.
