Just in time for everyone who’s looking to make some health and fitness related New Year’s resolutions, Best Buy is introducing a great line of products from Vega. I’ve been using Vega products for a few years now so I’m pretty excited to see them here.

Today I’m talking about the Vega Sport pre-workout energizer and Performance Protein powders. Both of these products will help you get the most out of your workouts and help reduce recovery time as well.

Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer

optimized-img_0088The Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer is a blend of 12 plant-based ingredients that will give you the boost you need to fuel your workout. I love that the green tea and yerba mate are natural energizers and help me increase my endurance and focus when I’m working out.

One of the reasons I love the Vega products is that they mix easily. You can mix them in a blender, but if you’re hitting up the gym after a work day they mix easily in a shaker cup too. To use the Pre-Workout Energizer simply mix one scoop, which is 18 g, with one cup of water. I simply fill my shaker cup of choice with one cup of water and 20 minutes before my workout I add the scoop of Energizer, shake and drink.

Vega Sport Performance Protein

optimized-img_0090This protein powder is specially designed for post workout refueling and recovery. The turmeric, tart cherry and probiotics combined with the BCAA’s and 30 grams of protein will give your body what it needs to fuel, repair and build your muscles post workout. Being gluten free, I really notice how happy my gut is from the probiotics and bromelain, and my muscles are less sore and recover much faster when I use this protein powder after my workout.

Vega is all plant based but you can easily mix it with your choice of liquid so if you prefer milk then go ahead. My favourite way to use my Vega proteins is mixing them with coconut milk and with the Performance Protein my favourite after workout shake is this Chocolate Coconut shake. I also love that the powders come in a variety of flavours so you can easily create your own shake of choice. I generally stick with the vanilla flavour because it can be incorporated into almost any flavour shake and it’s nice to mix up your shakes so you don’t get tired of having the same one every day.

Chocolate Coconut Post Workout Smoothie


  • 1 serving Vanilla Vega Sport Performance Protein
  • ¼ cup coconut flakes
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1½ cups unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 ounce of dark chocolate

Blend the first four ingredients in a blender until smooth. Add the dark chocolate and blend. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy.

I always find after a workout it takes me awhile to get hungry but it’s important to refuel your body and muscles quickly and the Vega Sport Performance Protein is the perfect way to do that. Here’s a video showing how to make it:
