Razer Blade. Two words guaranteed to grab the attention of anyone who takes PC gaming seriously. The gaming laptop series made waves in 2013, landing on a slew of “best of” lists. The 2014 edition manages to be even more over the top, earning titles like “world’s thinnest gaming laptop” while offering performance that has to be seen to be believed. You’ll soon find the all-new Razer Blade gaming laptops at Best Buy (you’ll be able to pre-order them this week), including the impossibly thin and light 14-inch model with its 5.76 million pixels —the world’s highest resolution 14-inch notebook display.

Razer = PC Gaming

Gamers know Razer as the manufacturer of some of the most sought after PC (and console) gaming accessories. Best Buy carries dozens of these elite peripherals, including the infamous Black Widow mechanical gaming keyboard and Orca gaming headphones.

Razer has also built a reputation for designing some of the most wicked, high performance gaming rigs on the planet and the Razer Blade is considered by many to be the pinnacle of gaming laptops.

Want proof? Check out the details on the 2014 edition Razer Blade 14-inch gaming laptop.

QHD+ Display

Despite being just 14-inches, Razer stuffs a QHD+ display in this gaming laptop. That’s 5.76 million pixels (or 262 pixels-per-inch) —unheard of resolution in a PC of this size.

Razer says the IGZO IPS display is even better than last year’s version in other ways too, including a 250% improvement in contrast ratio, higher brightness and faster response. This display is also a 10-point multi-touch model, so you can take full advantage of Windows 8’s touch interface.

Gaming Power to Spare

Read our overview of gaming laptops and you’ll see that with these machines, it’s all about speed. The 14-inch Razer Blade checks all the boxes and then some. Among its specs, you’ll find:

  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M GPU with 3GB of fast, GDDR5 VRAM
  • intel Quad-core i7 (Haswell CPU)
  • 8 GB DDR3 RAM
  • Minimum 128 GB SSD

In other words, in everything from pushing pixels to crunching numbers and loading games, this gaming laptop is built for speed.

Razer says this machine is capable of 40 fps (on shared settings) playing Batman: Arkham Origins, double the performance of the 2013 edition of the Razer Blade.

Somehow, Thin and Light

Even though it packs formidable technology under the hood —including that ultra high resolution display, graphics card, powerful CPU, SSD and a 70Whr battery— the 14-inch Razer Blade still lives up to its name. It’s just 1.8 cm thick and weighs only 2.04 kg.

That makes it a truly portable gaming rig.

Seeing is Believing

All the specs in the world won’t have the same impact as actually seeing the Razer Blade in action. So look for the full line of Razer Blade gaming laptops —including the incredible 14-inch version— at Best Buy stores soon. In the meantime, there are plenty of other compelling gaming laptops to choose from and don’t forget to have a look at Razer’s gaming peripherals for the ultimate in gaming-optimized performance.
