$_32.JPGThere are a lot of great things about Dads. Not every dad can pick up a wrench and fix your carburetor, but they all seem to have the innate ability to fix a problem. Some dads can dry your tears when you need them, while others can shed a few themselves when the situation calls for it.

That’s the beauty of dads. They’re all different, and while one dad will be the guy who would rather hit the ski hill than the couch, another might find it more relaxing to watch golf on his big screen TV than actually play it.

My own dad is someone who is pretty dedicated to his favourite easy chair. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I’ve been trying to find ways to get him outside for fresh air and exercise. If that sounds like your dad too, you’ll be glad to know there are a lot of great ways to get him up and out.

Here are 10 Father’s Day gifts you can choose to get Dad up and out of the house more. I plan to use a few of these myself this year.

Parrot Bebop 2 quadcopter drone

When I was a kid my Dad was an RC fan. I remember the huge airplanes he’d bring home and how he’d fly them around an empty field while we watched. He really loved it, but over the years he let the hobby go.

Times have changed and so have RCs, and this is the perfect time of year to pick up a drone like the Parrot Bebop 2 quadcopter for my Dad. It would definitely get him outside, and he’d be impressed with the flying time, 60 km/hr speed, and 300 meter range of this drone.

Sportz Truck Tent

I seriously love the Sportz Truck tent so much, I’d have to get one for both my husband and my Dad.

It assembles right in the open-bed of your truck, and it’s the perfect tent for camping trips, road trips, and quick overnights with the grandkids. It sleeps 2, has 5.6 feet of headroom, and has a rain fly in case of down pours.

BioLite Camp Stove

If your dad is a camper, this will be his favourite camp stove. The BioLite Camp Stove boils water and cooks meals using biomass like twigs and sticks, but it doesn’t stop there. It has enough juice so Dad can also use it to recharge his phone or any other USB device he brings along.

GoPro HERO4 Silver Edition

Even if Dad already has a GoPro, he’s going to love the GoPro HERO4 Silver Edition. This camera stands up to any type of adventure Dad wants to go on and it captures stunning 4K video. Whether he’s going to run his first race or he likes to get outside and ride his bike, this is the perfect camera for every day fun.

If you really want to set Dad up, you can include the GOcase H4 starter kit. It’s got lens protectors, a silicon cover, and case for his GoPro.

Nikon COOLPIX Waterproof digital camera

If Dad isn’t a GoPro kind of guy, there’s still a great camera for him. Take the Nikon COOLPIX waterproof, shockproof, Wi-Fi camera with GPS as an example. It’s got a 16MP sensor and 5 x optical zoom, and with built-in Wi-Fi and NFC he can send his photos wirelessly to his phone for sharing his adventures online.

10417854.jpgZepp Golf 2 Swing Analyzer

My Dad may have enjoyed watching golf from the comfort of his couch, but he doesn’t mind getting out on the putting green once in awhile either. You can encourage your own Dad to head over to the golf course with the Zepp Golf 2 Swing analyzer.

It attaches to his golf glove and connects to his smartphone via Bluetooth. Once it’s connected, Dad can get real insight into his swing in 3D including club speed, tempo, backswing length, and hand speed. Because it gives him an instant update on how he’s doing, he can adjust his swing mid-game.

Fitbit Blaze

Why just buy Dad a watch that tells time when you can give him one that makes him want to head out for a walk or a run? The Fitbit Blaze is a great looking watch, but it’s also a fitness tracker with heart rate monitoring. All he has to do is connect the Blaze to your his smartphone and he can have data on all of his activities.

The full-colour OLED touchscreen is great to look at and easy to use, and he can receive all of his call notifications, texts, and calendar reminds on the screen too.

High Sierra Classic hydration pack

Maybe your Dad likes to hike for an hour or two, but feels he lacks to gear to go all day. Help your Dad take his hikes to the next level by gifting him the High Sierra Classic 2 hydration pack for Father’s Day. It holds 2 L of water and is hands-free so he can easily use it to hike or mountain bike. It also has extra compartments to hold everything he needs for a full day on the hill.

JBL Xtreme portable Bluetooth speaker

My husband loves being outside, and wherever he goes, we know he likes to bring his favourite music along with. Unfortunately his desire to listen to music has resulted in more than one smashed or wet iPhone because he’d drop it while it was streaming.

To avoid this he’s asked for an outdoor speaker, and the JBL Xtreme portable Bluetooth speaker fits the bill perfectly. You can connect up to 3 smartphones and stream music, and it has a splashproof design he can take it everywhere without worrying about it breaking or getting wet.

Swiftflyte Professional Horseshoe set

If your Dad isn’t an extreme type of guy but still likes a low key game in the backyard, the Swiftflyte Professional Horseshoe set is a great Father’s Day gift. It comes with chrome and brass-plated horseshoes, and it’s a fun game everyone can play with Dad.

If your goal is to get Dad outside more this year, these gifts will help you accomplish just that. Check out everything Bestbuy.ca has for Dad this Father’s Day.
