One of the most personal technologies has to be the ereader, like those offered by Kobo. I realize that some of them can surf the web and view multimedia, but for me, they are made for reading books. They are perfectly designed for that one simple task. They are lightweight, with a display that is easy on the eyes in daylight, or at night, and they easily fit in one hand. Why do I love Kobo eReaders so much

Let me tell you a little story, a true story. Once upon a time I had a Kobo ereader, a gift from my children, and I used it all the time. I read a huge assortment of novels on my cherished Kobo: mysteries, historical fiction, classics, trashy pop fiction, non-fiction and more. My brain was filled with great characters and great stories. I took my Kobo everywhere: on cruises in the Caribbean, on flights to Europe, and even back and forth in my car daily so that at any moment I could take a few minutes’ break, just me and my Kobo.

Then tragedy struck: one evening while rushing to take groceries into the house to make dinner, I forgot my Kobo in the car. Wouldn’t you know it, a thief broke into my car and stole it. I was shattered! End of story. However, I still feel the loss. You never know how much you love something until it’s gone.

  2. I love how you can have tons of books, not break the bank on printed copies that take up lots of space, how paper like it is. So book lovers don’t have anything to lose.

  4. I love kobo e-readers because they are light weight and enable me to carry a small library of books with me.

  5. The best thing about Kobo is the ability to borrow library books. Other readers do not support that. There are also many discounted books to buy. I like the fact that as I am retired and downsizing that I can still have a large reading collection without large bookcases.

  19. My first ereader was a Kobo Paper White and I loved it but the wifi connection would no longer work. I love the Kobo app and the way you can sort your books. I love that you just have your books and not all the other apps that distract. I guess I just love Kobo! Lightweight and easy to use too!

  22. We had a Kobo reader which fails about 18 months after we bought.
    We called Kobo and they said there was no warranty for it.
    So you should know that Kobo Reader could work for as short as 18 months.
    Should think about it.

  27. I already have a kobo Clara HD, so if I win I would give the new one to my mother. I love that I can tap a word to get a definition or even search inside the book when a new character shows up but I’m sure he was talked about in the first few chapters… Genius!

  32. I love my Kobo! I can travel with as many books as I want all in the plam of my hand. I love that I can adjust fonts and the level of light (and it doesn’t keep my husband up like my old reading light did). In short it’s just probably the best thing that’s happened for reading since the printing press.

  34. I have had a kobo for several years and cannot say enough good things about kobos. I take it everywhere with me whether I am travelling, camping or waiting in a doctor’s waiting room. I love kobo.

  40. I’m an avid reader and I’ve been using an e-reader for my books since 2010! I used to pack 9 to 10 paperbacks my suitcase for my week-long vacations so the introduction of ebooks and e-readers made ne an early adopter. I’ve had a Kobo touch, a Mini and now an Aura HD (both the Mini and Aura are still in use). I love having hundreds of books at my fingertips and being able to carry them all with me wherever I go! In Canada epubs are the main format in use for public libraries and I have used many other sources for them, including of course, the Kobo store. The cost is well, well worth it for such convenience and compact storage!

  42. I love my Kobo ereader for many reasons. I love how simple it is to sync and pit new books in the library. I love how I can place articles to read later through the mypocket integration. I love how portable it is and how easy it makes reading, whether I have my headlamp or not. Travelling and camping is when my Kobo shines the brightest.

  43. I love Kobo e-readers because they can hold hundreds of e-books in this one little device and best of all the screen allows you to read easily in the sunshine.

  44. I purchased one of the original kobo’s that came with 100 free classics. It was fantastic. Lightweight, easy to read, and portable. About two years later it stopped working after installing the mandatory kobo updates. As it was a known problem at the time they sent me a refurbished replacement ereader, however I lost my 100 free classics.
    Shortly after that, at age 32, I was diagnosed with severe arthritis and had to quit working and was practically bedridden. My kobo was my saving grace as it helped me to pass the long days and got me through three out of my five surgeries. The replacement kobo stopped working after about two years, once again after installing kobo’s mandatory updates. This time, however, kobo would do nothing about it. After a few months without the kobo, I decided to give it another chance as it is such a wonderful device when it is working. I bought a new Kobo Aura 2 and it only lasted three months before it stopped working. I was so discouraged that I returned it back to the store and have missed it ever since. I would love to give them a chance to redeem themselves, but as I have not been physically able to work i cannot afford to buy a new ereader every three months let alone manage to get myself to the store.
