There’s a modern twist to this turntable as it can stream to speakers via Bluetooth.
Modern amplifier
The featured WiiM amplifier is a very versatile product that will please many different users. It can accommodate a pair of passive speakers, as well as a powered subwoofer. The input options are line (RCA), optical (for various digital players) or HDMI Arc. No phono stage is available. The supplied remote control lets you control things from a distance. There are modern conveniences such as a USB out, Bluetooth connection and multiroom capabilities. The companion app, WiiM Home, lets you adjust subwoofer settings, apply equalization and even analyze your room for sound correction.
Powerful speakers and useful accessories
The Klipsch R-41M reference bookshelf speaker pair is rated at 50 W and will fill most rooms with a full, crisp sound. A single 25-foot speaker cable is included. To use it with both speakers you need to cut it to the desired length and assemble a second cable to plug in both units. The posts to which the cables connect to can accept bare wire, but you can also use the extra banana plugs supplied in the bundle.
A nice addition is the included Ultralink 30ml Vinyl Record Cleaning kit. You’ll be able to keep your vinyl collection and your turntable clean. This kit includes a record and a stylus brush, another brush for hard-to-reach areas and a 30ml bottle of cleaning solution.
Design and aesthetics
The Klipsch Complete Vinyl & WiiM Streaming bundle is a combination of different products that have different aesthetics. The bookshelf speakers are slightly understated, and it feels like they would fit into any sort of living room décor. The turntable is quite sober, featuring a dark body and no notable design elements. The WiiM amplifier on the other hand has a much more modern look, with its aluminum finish. For those that are sensitive to their equipment arrangement, this might look a bit mismatched, especially if you prefer a more vintage look.
Powerful control via WiiM Home App
Although the WiiM amplifier doesn’t have a lot of physical controls (there is one knob for volume and a play/pause button), the WiiM Home App allows in-depth control. Its great design makes it a breeze to use. With the help of the app, you’ll be able to connect your streaming services and play your favourite music through the amp and speakers. You’ll also be able to adjust the equalization to your liking and even sync audio across multiple devices if you have multiple WiiM devices.
One of the most useful features though is the room correction called Room Fit. This useful tool will compensate for imperfect environments and improve the perceived sound. The app will analyze the room’s acoustics by emitting a noise and captured through your phone’s microphone at your preferred position. Then, it will apply an inverse equalization curve to the frequencies that are exaggerated or attenuated to “correct” your music to your space. This is a great way of improving your experience without purchasing any additional equipment.
How does everything sound?
While not reaching audiophile levels, the Klipsch Complete Vinyl & WiiM Streaming bundle sounds quite good. The speakers are punchy and provide a much better sound quality than built-in television speakers. If you don’t have dedicated speakers, this bundle will be a nice upgrade. They are powerful and loud enough to supply plenty of kick to decent sized rooms.
While the listening experience is enjoyable, there is a slight muddiness when I compared to my monitors in my music studio setup. Applying Room Fit correction clears things up considerably and you can further tailor the sound to your liking by applying custom EQ. The speakers have decent low end, but if you enjoy bass heavy material, the dedicated subwoofer output is a good way of expanding the lower frequencies.
