Best Buy Canada celebrates 25 years of partnership with BGC Canada with new technology grants

When Best Buy Canada first opened its doors in Canada, we made a commitment to invest in young people and make a difference in communities across the country. One of the ways this commitment comes to life is through our partnership with BGC Canada (Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada). Twenty-five years later, that commitment is still going strong.

Since partnering with BGC Canada, Best Buy Canada has helped thousands of children and youth access opportunities that have shaped their futures. Whether through scholarships, technology grants, anti-racism micro-grants, in-kind donations, or support for national initiatives and events, our partnership has focused on one simple idea: when young people have the right support, they can achieve incredible things.

Investing in young people at a pivotal moment

For many young people, post-secondary education can feel out of reach. That’s why the Best Buy Canada Grade 10 Scholarship Program was created.

More than 460 BGC youth have received scholarships that helped ease financial barriers and support their educational journeys. Today, many recipients continue to give back to their communities and inspire the next generation.

Giving Clubs the tools to prepare youth for tomorrow

Technology has become essential to learning and future success, yet many young people still don’t have access to the tools they need to build digital skills.

Through technology grants, Best Buy Canada and BGC Canada have helped Clubs across the country create welcoming spaces where youth can explore coding, robotics, digital media, graphic design, music production, photography, artificial intelligence, and more.

Celebrating 25 years with new technology grants

To mark this milestone partnership, Best Buy Canada and BGC Canada are investing further by awarding four $25,000 technology grants to help Clubs build innovative technology spaces for youth.

BGC Fort McMurray (AB)

The Limitless Youth Tech Hub will provide equitable access to coding, robotics, gaming, artificial intelligence, digital media, and creative technology. Located in the Club’s new facility, the space will help youth build future-ready skills while encouraging creativity, innovation, and leadership.

BGC Yorkton (SK)

Through the Youth Digital Futures Initiative, young people will gain greater access to technology, digital skills training, mentorship, and hands-on learning. The project will also introduce a structured esports program that builds teamwork, leadership, and positive peer connections while preparing youth for future education and careers.

BGC Charlesbourg (QC)

The new digital lab will replace outdated computers with modern technology that supports digital creation, 3D modelling, and gaming. By creating an engaging technology space, the Club hopes to reduce barriers for youth who may not otherwise have access to these tools while welcoming young people whose interests lie in digital creativity.

BGC Sarnia-Lambton (ON)

The Future Innovators STEM & Technology Lab will expand existing STEM programming by giving youth access to coding, robotics, digital design, media creation, and other hands-on learning experiences. The space will help participants build confidence, creativity, collaboration, and the skills needed for tomorrow’s workforce.

In May 2026, Best Buy Canada was recognized with the BGC Canada Community Impact Award, honouring our enduring commitment and collaborative efforts to help create meaningful opportunities for young people.

Looking ahead

As technology continues to evolve and new opportunities emerge, one thing remains constant: when organizations come together to invest in young people, the impact lasts a lifetime.

Through partnerships like this, Best Buy Canada continues to support across the country by helping create meaningful opportunities for people to learn, grow, and succeed through technology.
