Remote controlled planes and helicopters have been around for many years but they never caused the frenzy that we have seen with drones. They have invaded our psyche and become a part of our culture. This is the year that drones have emerged as a cultural phenomenon. I am currently reading Dickens’ Bleak House, an amazing story that includes many references to 19th century culture. For example, on page 344 Dickens includes in his descriptions of the Smallweed family, a family that is basically born adult, presumably skipping childhood and childish things, numerous childish games and toys that were popular in his day:

“… her twin brother couldn’t wind up a top for his life. He knows no more of Jack the Giant Killer or of Sinbad the Sailor than he knows of the people in the stars. He could as soon play at leap-frog or at cricket as change into a cricket or a frog himself.”

  2. The DJI 4 4K has so many great features- aside from obstacle avoidance (because I’m not he best pilot 🙂 ) but having the built in wifi and the 4K UHD is just too much awesome for 1 drone – that would definitely be my biggest prize under the tree!

  10. Love the DJI phantom 4 4k , first the 4k feature and love the fact that it can avoid obsatcles and it has the built in wifi , would be perfect as a christmas gift for my fiance which has been asking for a drone since they first came out.

  12. My favorite feature of the these 3 DJI drones is their ability to send live video stream to mobile.
    It is one thing to record and see later, but a whole new experience to be able to see yourself , that too in 2K and 4k and actually everything from up there. Its fascinating.

  14. My favourite would be the DJI Phanthom 4 4k not only it takes a good videos even pictures too! A friend of mine have this so i know It has a good quality on it. Wish i could have it. Even though I don’t win I wish everyone luck! Have a Merry Merry Christmas guys!✌️

  15. Love the fact that the new mavic is foldable and compact! Much easier for transporting. 4K video with obstacle avoidance and still very quick 🙂

  19. DJI phantom 3 standard sounds like it’d be a great drone to have. I really like that you can stream the video on to your phone and that the battery lasts for 25 minutes.

  23. I think my favorite drone is the DJI phantom 4 that can gain a speed up to 72 miles an hour and the 4K 120 fps. The phantom 4 is my all time favourite drone of all time

  24. I can tell you the avoidance sensing system of the DJI Phantom 4 4K is needed. My son bought a cheaper drone and long story short, I ended up in my neighbour’s tree to get it down.

    Did I mention I don’t like heights or ladders?

  26. both the mavi and phantom 4 are quite similar as to feature, but the built wifi on the phantom 4 is a great addition! though id love to win either of the 3, awesome for aeriel shots for videos

  37. The DJI Phantom 4 4K is my favourite. Ever since I got my 4K TV and computer screen I’ve been all about 4K video. It’s so crispy!

  38. I would pick the DJI Phantom 4 4K simply for its obstacle avoidance sensing system as I’m a little afraid of my flying skills. What the hell practice makes perfect right?

  39. Love the Mavic Pro. It’s folding and lightweight feature is definitely great to have, especially when it’s pretty much the Phantom 4 in a smaller body!

  50. I’d have to pick the DJI MAVIC Foldable Quadcopter Drone with 4K UHD Camera & Controller. I like the easy to fly feature combined with the 4K video and pictures.
