5 tips to create a home cinema

During most of the year, I enjoy getting outside as much as I can. However, as the days get shorter and rain holds steady in the forecast (at least in British Columbia), one of my favourite ways to relax and unwind is to watch a movie or TV show. I recently got a small projector, helping me create a cinema experience in my home and have been loving it. If you’re also looking to create a home cinema, here are a few things to consider to enhance your experience.

1. Get a modern TV or projector

Your TV is the centrepiece of your home cinema. Chances are you already own one. But if you’re looking to upgrade your home theatre by adding an awesome sound bar to your setup, why not get an awesome TV too for stunning resolution that matches the outstanding sound quality you’ll get out of the Bose sound bar? You can find the latest 4K, 8K, OLED, and Mini-LED TVs at Best Buy, as well as state-of-the-art projectors if you’re looking for that really “big screen” experience.

2. Upgrade your sound quality

You might have noticed that the sound coming out of your TV’s built-in speakers isn’t great. Once you experience the crystal clear, surround sound provided by a sound bar or home theatre system, you won’t be able to go back. Whether you’re watching a movie or a documentary, sound has the power to immerse you in the story. Learn more about how to create the best in-home audio experience as explained by the Best Buy Blog’s TV & home theatre editor Shelly Wutke.

3. Add a media streamer

If you don’t own a Smart TV, you can still easily stream your favourite content from Netflix, YouTube, and more by getting a media streamer. They seamlessly plug into your TV so you can stream content from the Internet on your TV and enjoy thousands of movies and TV shows. Google, Amazon, Roku, and Apple each offer different devices, including some with voice control.

4. Mount your TV

Something else to consider when designing your home theatre is getting a TV mount so you can position your TV for the best views. There are different types of TV mounts including Full Motion, Tilting, and Fixed mounts. Whether you simply want to be able to tilt your TV or would like to be able to adjust it at a custom angle, there’s a TV mount for you depending on how much flexibility you need.

5. Play with lighting

Finally, smart lighting can help you set the right ambiance for your movie nights. With smart light bulbs, you can control and change the brightness and colour using your phone. Some smart lamps even take it a step further and can be programmed to match the hue of what you’re watching on TV in real-time for an immersive experience.

  2. I am excited about the Proprietary TrueSpace spatial processing intelligently analyses signals other than Dolby Atmos and upmixes them for a rich, 7-channel sound!

  3. I love love love the Bose the sound t is the best i have heard and the look is very charming . does satisfy all my needs

  4. I like this feature as I want to put it in my garage/man cave and it has high ceilings – Dolby Atmos gives your sound an extra dimension of height for a room-filling audio

  5. Like everyone else Dolby Atmos is the feature I’m most excited for, with Google assistant in second place.

  6. SimpleSync makes it easy to connect your soundbar to compatible audio components like bass modules, surround speakers, or headphones. This easy connection concept is awesome

  7. This will sound awesome with the Six full-range transducers, including two custom-engineered upfiring dipole speakers, a centre tweeter, and speaker arrays connected to the Bose PhaseGuide technology deliver an incredible and immersive sound experience.

  8. I love this feature — Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, and Spotify Connect offer multiple ways to connect wirelessly so you can stream your favourite channels and playlists — because it means one less thing we need, can use one speaker in the living room for all entertainment purposes
