Spring is in full swing here on the West Coast and I’ve been loving my outdoor runs the last few weeks. My husband surprised me with a fitness tracker in the new year and I am now obsessed with tracking my daily activity. I love the freedom and stress release that running gives, and today I’m talking about the latest running tech that has made tracking your runs easy and convenient. I’m also checking out some of the newest tech in headphones because for me, music is what helps me power through those tough minutes when I feel like quitting.

Tracking your runs

There are many options on the market these days when it comes to tracking your runs and they will help you keep an eye on your progress as you improve as well. Fitbit has a variety of fitness trackers and smartwatches which allows you to choose the one that will suit your personal wants and needs.

Fitbit Versa wth Heart Rate

This Fitbit Versa Smartwatch with Heart Rate Monitor has all the bells and whistles. It counts calories burned, steps taken, and time active, as well as tracking your heart rate and sleeping patterns. Getting a good night’s sleep and enough sleep regularly is a key factor when it comes to staying healthy, and I love this feature of the Smartwatch. You can choose your own settings, or one of the 15 pre-loaded exercise modes and the heart rate monitor will ensure your heart rate is at the optimal level during your run. It also connects to your smartphone to use the GPS and will let you know of any notifications or incoming messages. As an alternative, check out the Fitbit Versa Lite. Both smartwatches have a four-day battery life and are 50m water-resistant but the Lite edition is missing the wi-fi capabilities, the ability to count floors climbed and on-board, music storage.

Samasung Galaxy ActiveAnother great tracker option is this Samsung Galaxy Watch Active with Heart Rate Monitor. It will help you achieve your daily fitness goals with real-time tracking for calories, distance, and over 40 exercises. You can monitor your sleep patterns and heart rate to ensure you’re getting enough rest and your heart rate is where you want it to be. Tracking your heart rate during a workout is great for when you want to focus on cardio or fat burn. It responds to your voice commands and syncs with your phone and Samsung SmartThings devices, so you can set alarms and answer texts. A great music playlist is a must to help push you through a workout and you can do this with the help of the Galaxy Watch Active app.

Fitbit Inspire HR On top of tracking your daily fitness, smartwatches can be a beautiful accessory like the Fitbit Inspire HR Fitness Tracker with Heart Rate Monitor or the Fitbit Inspire Fitness Tracker without the heart rate monitor. This watch is very slim and sleek in design which makes it more delicate on the wrist. It’s also available in lilac, sangria and white as well as black. These watches have up to a 5-day battery life and will track your steps, distance, sleep pattern, calories burned and daily activity. I use Fitbit myself and I love that it’s also water-resistant and syncs with my smartphone to give me notifications.

Polar M430 GPS watchRunners everywhere will want to check out this Polar M430 GPS Watch with Heart Rate Monitor. The integrated GPS tracks speed, distance, and route while the 6-LED technology accurately monitors your heart rate from your wrist. The rechargeable battery lasts for up to 8 hours if you’re using both the GPS and heart rate monitor and recharges with a USB in 45 minutes. It also features Polar Sleep Plus which senses the time, amount and quality of your sleep to help you ensure you’re making sleep a priority. You also have the option to download the Polar Flow App to help you plan your training for your next big run.
